This is another one of my favorites cameras from the new IPCT camera line. It's a Night Eye style camera with amazing night vision / infrared. This little bullet packs a mean 8MP / 4K resolution and is available here.

Would love to see some comparison shots of this against the Dahua 1831 8mp Starlight bullet...

and why the heck is the model numbering so reminiscent of Dahua's,
when we all know these are Hik OEM'd? Are you TRYING to confuse people?...

The model numbers were assigned to us by our sales rep. Next batch of different cameras will be different.

Hi, what exactly does "Night eye \ darkfighter" refer to? Is it a special sensor, (like the Sony Starvis\Starlight sensor), and if so, is there a chip model number one could research? Or is it firmware\software specific to Hikvision\your cameras providing some type of adjustment to allow for better night viewing?

Also, is this something that applies only when the camera is in color mode to give the best night color image without IR. (as I think is the case with the Sony sensors?) or also when in B&W with IR?

This in a variable focal would be very slick, would probably buy right now...
Any plans for any PTZ?

It's much more than that. In layman terms it's greatly improved night vision. I'll post more technical info soon (on the road right now).

I would like to in the future, yes. The plan is to sell everything we have right now and buy more, including new models ASAP!
 
Got mine this aft. super-fast shipping. BUT, it appears to be D.O.A. I have it on the test bench connected to my laptop via a known-good 10/100 switch (nothing else on the network.) Powered by 12V 2amp power supply that works fine for other cams. No signs of life. No link light on switch port. Can't ping 192.168.1.64 from laptop @ 192.168.1.128. No visible IR. Not seen in SADP. Opened the little hatch and hit the reset button while powering up, just in case, but no change. I apparently got a bad one. I know this stuff happens, but disappointed. Do I take it up with Amazon, Andy, or you? Please advise. Thanx.

edit: Will test with PoE when I can, but even if that works, will need to have this addressed...

That's crazy, we bench tested every unit. I will gladly take care of it for you either way. Please try with another power supply and POE. I bet / hope it's something with the power supply.

Make sure you are using 12V 2A or else it won't work! The power supplies you have laying around most likely are not 12V 2A.

hey Mike, PoE is OK, so I will continue testing/evaluating, but none of my 12V power supplies work on this thing. please PM to work this out offline...

as the unit I got does work with PoE, I put it up next to my Dahua 1831E for now...

forced color at night vs B&W with IR...

Odd that this 4mm lens (?) has a wider field of view than the 3.6mm Dahua.

The focal length is not the only determining factor of fov.

How are the specs wrong? Field of View is determined by focal length and sensor size. The two cameras you are comparing do not have similar sensors. There are some great interactive calculators out there to use for this...

The specs aren't wrong. This is the spec sheet from Hikvision. 1/2" Progressive Scan CMOS sensor + 4mm lens.
