URGENT!!! There will be new DMSS 2.0 and new cloud account mode & new cloud video streaming

New version works on my iPhone 12 Pro, but on my wife’s 13 Pro Max it just instantly crashes (both 18.3.1). Uninstalled / reinstalled, and same thing.

DMSS Latest Update - Fooked again

Latest update added some features, including “favorites” and a three line button in the upper right of the Home Screen that I forget what it said was for… but for me, it’s only useful for immediately crashing the app.

If you’re not having issues with the native stream I doubt it’s a hardware Ethernet issue.

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

Dahua RTSP streams have almost always been problematic for me, and I usually get glitches (green flashing blotches on my common playback devices). With that said, I’ve actually been having pretty good luck with the 425 at max bitrate. But I’m also feeding it through a NVR.

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

There’s definitely some bugs. I’d set up IVS with intrusion, but was never getting alerts. I’d get AI human / vehicle motion alerts when on a non-IVS view, but otherwise radio silence. However, after its weekly scheduled reboot last night… all of a sudden the IVS alerts are flooding in today.

The 425 seems to track vehicles. Maybe the 216 doesn’t.

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

What IVS type are you using? I set up auto tracking as a lark last night, using just “Intrusion” mode, and it definitely does both people and cars. And quite successfully. However I was expecting to get alarms when this happens from “Intrusion” mode, however I’m not getting anything. SMD alarms...

Windows security / antivirus doesn’t like the plug-in, be sure to manually approve the file or it’ll just keep deleting / blocking it.

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

I put it on earlier this week. Seems to be working at the moment. Alas I had no time with the original firmware to know what might not be working. SMD is functional but that’s about all I’m using.

Just to bump this because I’d like it too. Odd that Dahua rebranded apps have it…

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

And this is where I have confusion: I assumed the NVR needs to configure and be aware of what the camera’s doing for things like AI, schedules, alerts, push messages and so forth to function properly. And if these things were configured solely in the camera, that would be like a local (SD-card...

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

Guess I’ve got it about as good as I can get it. Daytime is a LOT better with the sharpness turned waaay down. However, I’m noting that the NVR16CH-16P-2AI does not seem to be correctly detecting this camera’s AI functions. It keeps telling me to set a preset, but none are shown. I know it’s...

2023 EmpireTech AI NVR Video Guide

Yeah, I’ve been a Dahua user for probably 15 years and I’m only now trying to get a NVR going with AI camera detection/notification, and I’m honestly completely lost. Hopefully this will help. Did that manual get posted?

Dahua SmartPSS Crashing in Windows 10

    Review-SD4A425DB-HNY 1/2.8" CMOS 4MP 25x Starlight Auto-tracking MiniPTZ

So I’ve been trying to get this PTZ camera going… really not impressed with the image quality versus my 5442’s, but it is what it is. Latest firmware. I’ve been finding VBR encoding utterly useless - even with image quality set to 6, it keeps dropping the bitrate to insanely low levels in h264...

Is a Dahua NVR actually 1U or 2U in a rack?

Heh, that caught my eye too, but you have a VERY neat and tidy setup there. And Unifi FTW! At least, for everything but cameras. I got my rack last week decommissioned from a business, and it came with a bunch of shelves and PDUs installed… and apparently some genius years ago installed a 1U...

Is a Dahua NVR actually 1U or 2U in a rack?

lol, so true. I just unboxed mine to measure. Without the feet - so only the housing - it’s 1.85” thick. I mean… how CLOSE to being able to stick ears on this thing are they? Just shave off 0.15” and we’re good! With feet, it measures 2.06”, which is less than the 2.2” spec, but still more...

Is a Dahua NVR actually 1U or 2U in a rack?

Well, they should at least stop using industry standard terms inappropriately! But Ethernet, POE, HDMI, USB, RTSP, ONVIF, h265, ftp, https, the list goes on… there’s a lot of standards-based stuff being used in these NVRs. And the PFH101 shows they are at least passively aware of racking standards.

Is a Dahua NVR actually 1U or 2U in a rack?

Definitely looks like it’s 2”. A 1U device can be only 1.75” absolute max, assuming it had ears that could be mounted directly on the sides. (See Unifi switches that are 1.7”). With a shelf requirement, it would have to be thinner, like maybe 1.60”. Dahua should really look at engineering...

Is a Dahua NVR actually 1U or 2U in a rack?

Will do! Moved to a new place and it’s my first time doing a proper organized rack. For the last umpteen years I’ve just had various piles of switches and servers, lol.

Is a Dahua NVR actually 1U or 2U in a rack?

Well, yeah. Which is why I’m finding it confusing that it’s referred to specifically as a 1U NVR, but then the specs for the model I have (still in box) says it’s 2.2” high. There is also an official rackmount adapter sold for it (but expensive), so it’s not like “1U” could be assumed to refer...

Is a Dahua NVR actually 1U or 2U in a rack?

In planning out my network rack, I was checking the size of the shelf I needed to buy... and now I'm confused as to the official specs. It's called a 1U NVR, but 1U is 1.75" high. The official specs say it's 2.2" high. So does it actually end up taking 2U of vertical space sitting on a shelf in...

    Lorex 4K Doorbell

Good news! The configuration options seem to come up fine in SmartPSS. I was able to bump the UHD encoding bitrate from the default of 2048 to 6144, and change audio from whatever crap codec it was using to AAC, but I can’t seem to change audio bitrate. Can’t remove the Lorex watermark. Does...

    Lorex 4K Doorbell

Hmm. Haven’t tried SmartPSS (will do that later) but I got it working with DMSS (iOS) on port 35000. It logs in, lets me see the streams (correct aspect ratio, sound, seems like it might allow talking too), view all motion recordings (seemingly a heck of a lot more than the Lorex app gives me)...

    Lorex 4K Doorbell

I just installed my Lorex 4K doorbell yesterday if anyone has any questions. Previously I had (at a different house) a Ring Pro. Lens/sensor quality seems quite good, but I do wish the bit rate was higher. No adjustments that I can see. Very little lens distortion. would like more than 15...

    How are Dahua doorbells?

Have to say I’m quite intrigued by the forthcoming Lorex 4K doorbell. Unless the video quality is garbage, it seems to have everything I’m looking for including chime integration, local video storage, no fees, etc. The ReoLink also looks quite good, only I have a real soft spot for mechanical...

    How are Dahua doorbells?

Ugh. So the Dahua 2K’s video is horrible (and seems to be the only model available). Frankly the Unifi’s video is also completely unacceptable for the high price. And the otherwise excellent Reolink won’t activate a local doorbell chime. Thinking I’m just going to install the old but still NIB...
