Determining 4K vs 5MP and camera brand

I think Hikvision would probably be as popular as Dahua here if there was a vendor that made buying the bulk of their line lineup at OEM prices as easy as Andy does with Dahua. Both Andy the ipcamtalk.com store have a few OEM Hik models, but the last time I checked there was only one OEM Hik...

    Model Numbers

Like @bigredfish mentioned, Dahua uses different model numbers on their website based on the Location you've chosen. Most folks here use the model numbers (at least the four digits, i.e. '5242') found on "International" location because that location usually has Dahua's complete lineup. If you...

    Good Quality Cameras

If you want to try adjusting settings, below is a link to a great post (if you haven't already seen it before): Common issues with camera image | IP Cam Talk If you're looking for new cameras that do better in low light, check out Dahua/Hik models that use the 4MP 1/1.8" image sensor...

NVR/IPCam Package That Supports Remote Viewing over LAN (With no Internet access)

Part of it might be the wording. IMO, "remote viewing" usually refers to the process you use when you're not at home and want to connect back in (across the Internet) to view your cameras/recordings. If you're home and want to connect to your NVR across your LAN, ... that process is called a...

2.8mm or 4mm at these positions?

The reference to IPVM Camera Calculator V3 might be helpful. Should let you pull up a Google Maps image of your house, position a camera around the exterior and see sample images. There's a little digital pin (person icon) you can move around and see how the image quality changes. It will...

I can not see the HikVision Camera after installing the plugin on Microsoft Edge

If we could waltz into Best Buy/Walmart/Target and pick up a "Silicon Valley" camera that used the latest image sensor technology and didn't require a recurring subscription service to use, most of us wouldn't be here! :) But here we are... IMO, Dahua/Hik serve the "professional surveillance"...

Anyone used a "Hot Spot" for monitoring at location without wired internet?

I've seen some threads over the years where folks were having problems with wireless carriers using a different type of NAT that made remotely connecting back into the systems more difficult, but not sure if that's something that's changed over time.

Please explain MP for ultra low Lux situations

Oh cool, that YouTube video in your link is from @wopi82, a forum member here who's contributed some great info like the link below: Common issues with camera image | IP Cam Talk The camera in that video is an older Full Color model that uses a 2MP 1/2.8" image sensor with a f1.0 lens. I saw a...

IPC-B5442T-ASE or IPC-HFW5442T-ASE-NI what one is better?

For me it 100% depends on how much visible light there is to work with (since the NI model doesn't come with any built-in ability to add light to the area, if needed <for better image quality>).

Why are Model Numbers Different between Dahua’s Website and Amazon

To make it even more fun, if Dahua US happened to carry an international model you were interested in, they’d give it a different model number than the Dahua international model number. :banghead: Andy sells OEM Dahua equipment under his own brands (like Loryta). This gives him the ability to...

Why are Model Numbers Different between Dahua’s Website and Amazon

That’s an odd statement to read after coming from threads where Andy (or “the Chinese seller here”, as you refer to him) has been working with Dahua firmware engineers and forum members here to get a better auto-IR feature into the 5442 firmware. There seems to be a regular cadence where forum...

Review - OEM IPC-B5442E-ZE 4MP AI Varifocal Bullet Camera With Starlight+

Surveillance System has long supported basic ONVIF functions with Dahua cameras (like recording, changing settings, and basic motion detection). There have been a lot of recent posts about Surveillance Station getting an upgrade and now supporting Dahua's IVS features (better motion detection...

First Dahua camera. Very nice. 2.8mm fisheye was a bit unexpected though.

Andy used to be able to get Dahua-branded equipment when requested. Not sure how his prices for that would compare to your China suppliers though. The IVS feature in the 5442s should have a "vehicle" and "person" filters you can tick that should reduce false alerts for wildlife/insects. But...

First Dahua camera. Very nice. 2.8mm fisheye was a bit unexpected though.

I'd guess 99% of the forum members here are home enthusiasts who don't want to pay extra for the logo so Andy's OEM prices + support is what most folks here go for. If you're an installer, I'm assuming you can go to your distributor and buy the Dahua version of this camera?

First Dahua camera. Very nice. 2.8mm fisheye was a bit unexpected though.

In the US, Dahua doesn't sell this model (or many of the better ultra-low light models). For the models that we can get in the US, it's usually less expensive to buy the OEM model from Andy (@EMPIRETECHANDY) than it is to buy the Dahua model. The only difference noted between Andy's OEM models...

Synology NAS NVR vs. a Standalone NVR

My only gripe with the support is that it took three years for them to add IVS support for Dahua cameras. Folks from here (my included) had been contacting Synology for that since at least 2017. Better late than never though. :)

Which Dahua and Where to buy

For Dahua, this usually works. Hopefully the app you're using that with can handle the authentication part. RTSP:/xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0&unicast=true&proto=Onvif Also, any app/tool that can use ONVIF to query the camera (with credentials) should be able to pull...

Which Dahua and Where to buy

You've probably already discovered this (but for anyone else reading the thread that isn't familiar with this), in addition to your router being able to assign a DHCP address, the device (i.e. a new IP camera) has to be set configured to use DHCP. Out of the box, Dahua/Hik are not configured to...

Synology NAS NVR vs. a Standalone NVR

It's really easy to do in BI. The equiv of Synology's "Action Rules" are called "Alerts". BI's "Web request or MQTT" action is similar to Synology's "Execute URL command" action. This is one way to integrate with IFTTT's Webhooks (or skip the Internet and connect directly to your home...

    Dahua T5442TM-AS quick review

The one ending in E supports ePoE. The Z models are varifocal, you can use the cameras web interface to zoom the lens to focal points between 2.7-12mm. The non-Z models are fixed lens, so you choose the lens size at purchase (2.8, 3.6, 6mm) and it is what it is. The HXX part of the model...

    Review: Dahua HFW5442T-ASE 4MP Starlight+

It supports regular 'grid' motion detection per normal, nothing special there. Most folks find the IVS feature more useful for detecting motion with fewer false alerts. What's new on this camera is that IVS intrusion zones have "filters" that can be set to only trigger if the object is...

    Typical Dahua cameras failures?

    IP Camera recommendations

That's a great camera but I think a lot of the price of the 7000 series are because of the extra "smarts" (check out the Face Detection and ANPR <LPR> details) vs the extra input/outputs. He may not be able to as easily get the 5442H-ZE... IVS (Perimeter Protection) Tripwire, intrusion...

Synology NAS NVR vs. a Standalone NVR

When it comes to literally just the IVS feature, everything there (including the "human" and "vehicle" AI Object Filters) work for me with Blue Iris. Some Dahua cameras have additional Event capabilities (like Face Detection, People Counting, Heat Map, etc), but I don't have much experience...

    UNIFI Cams...?

My home network is based on their networking gear but I stayed away from their camera system because it was too "walled in" for me (which feels weird to say as I am a heavy macOS/iOS user). To me the biggest cons where that their very slick looking VMS software only works with their cameras...

    Loryta Brand on Amazon Shop

@cepler, it you can wait a few days, it looks like Andy can ship up the international version of the 5442 for $40 cheaper than B&H, or the new varifocal version of the 5442 for the same price that B&H is selling the fixed-lens model for...

    Line-Crossing (Tripwire) vs. Motion Detection?

If you play the IVS recording back in SmartPSS with the option enabled that shows the boxes around the detected object/rules, I was curious if the camera is losing track of the people (i.e. object box goes away) as they are walking. In any event, are you also recording continuously so you can...

    Line-Crossing (Tripwire) vs. Motion Detection?

Unless things have changed over the last few months, there aren't any ultra-low-light cameras with PIR. Before you ditch your current camera system, see if you can rustle up an old PC and play around with the Blue Iris demo for a week or two. While it supports letting the cameras do motion...

Anyone tried these? Dahua have a 6mp STARVIS Turret with the same sensitivity as the 4mp

IMO the current best affordable low-light cameras (like the 5442 models) use the bigger 1/1.8” image sensor and have a 0.002 lux rating (1/3s). 0.03 lux is a big step back from that?
