Any comparisons between 2431 and 5442 (or 1/1.8 Colorvu)

To get an idea of how a cam is likely to perform in low light, look for its minimum illumination lux rating on the spec sheet. The lower the number, the better it should perform. The 2431TM-AS-S2 has a min illumination spec of 0.008 lux. The 5442TM-AS-LED is 0.002 lux. Big difference, IMO...

Edit: Updated with pic. Which is better here. Dahua 5442 or Hikvision 2347

The ColorVu from Hikvision is very similar to the 5442TM-AS-LED from Dahua. The ColorVu has a lens with a bigger aperture but IMO its similar in the sense that in dark scenes like you have, both cameras will turn on their built-in LED lights. So if you want a camera with a built-in floodlight...

    New low light camera

Yes, but it's close to splitting hairs at this point, IMO. You can roughly estimate a camera's low-light performance by using its minimum illumination lux spec (where lower is better): 0.190 lux = your existing camera 0.002 lux = Dahua's 5442 models As you can see there, the 5442 is a huge...

Yeah, in hindsight I could have picked a less sensational video to illustrate which part of the country the Democratic Party was made of during the era they were doing the things mentioned in the other video.

New member researching my first POE IP camera system

If you're going to be doing any night time recording, you might want to check the Dahua/Hik cameras that use the 4MP 1/1.8" image sensor. Bang for buck, they're about the best in terms of low-light performance. That image sensor isn't available in consumer brands like Amcrest/Lorex/etc yet...

    The Looney Left

I kind of think the same thing can probably be said about the "Inconvenient Truth about the Democratic Party" video. For example: I think most folks would be surprised to learn that everything above is true until they also also learn that the Democratic Party of those times primarily...

A better title would have been "How The Two Parties Switched in the mid-1900s..." Edit: my only interest in the video was the explanation of how the base of the Democratic and Republican parties have changed.

    Dahua ip bullet cameras

Yes. Some of their cameras/NVRs support ePoE, which expands that range out to 800m. https://us.dahuasecurity.com/product-technologies/epoe-technology/ Many of the ePoE models can be used over coax (with adapters), if you ever run into a client with an older coax system that wants to start...

    Review-OEM 4mp AI Cam IPC-T5442TM-AS Starlight+

It's the same image sensor as the one with IR. If you mount either model in a location that gets enough ambient light at night, both models will stay in color without using their built-in IR/LED lights. If there isn't enough ambient light at night, the LED model flips on those two bright-ass...

    Dahua ip bullet cameras

Dahua lists the maximum power draw and it's usually a good bit higher than what most folks see when the camera is operating normally. The 2MP 1/2.8" image sensor in the 4231 you mentioned is good in low light, but Dahua has newer, better models that are close in price. Check out the 5442...

New member, trying to sort this out.

Dahua is mostly like that too... Their model is to sell their cameras to businesses like above who then design, install and support the product for the end-user. Cutting out the middle man and doing it yourself is a great way to save money IMO. I think Dahua is currently a better value than...

Has anyone ordered from "Dahua Franchise Store" on Aliexpress? Why are prices generally cheaper ?

If you could post a link, it'd be easier to tell. There are multiple series of 2MP Starlight models ... Ultra, Pro, Lite, etc. The Ultra models use a bigger 2MP 1/1.8" image sensor that cost more. Varifocal models also cost more. Is the vendor shipping via quick DHL or another method that...

NVR vs BlueIris. Which NVR for Dahua cams or build NVR? Power consumption?

I haven't seen a post where someone has specifically tested a setup exactly like yours (i3 8100) with a killawatt. My BI PC is plugged into an APC UPS that shows it using around 50-55 watts. It uses an old processor (i7 from back in 2012) and BI is doing motion detection for twelve cameras...

    Illumination for color starlight?

If you haven't seen this thread about tuning images, it's prob worth a bookmark: Common issues with camera image | IP Cam Talk My suggestion would be to reduce the 3D noise reduction as much as possible, increase the shutter speed, test and see how things look. The catch for the faster shutter...

Turret wall mounting for HikVision, can it be done with outdoor units?

No, just keep in mind that the Ethernet cable coming off the back of the camera is pretty thick (because it’s inside of a water resistant connector), so you’re going to have to drill a bigger hole in the wall to accommodate it than if you used a junction box.

    Review IPC-T5442TM-AS-LED (Full Color, Starlight+)

Actually, stumbling across this post, it looks like the command below can toggle on/off the LED lights without having to flip between camera profiles. http://192.168.1.108/cgi-bin/configManager.cgi?action=setConfig&Lighting[0][X].Mode=Y X is the profile that your camera is running in at the...

    Review IPC-T5442TM-AS-LED (Full Color, Starlight+)

Correct. Dahua has a separate line of "Active Deterrence" camera models that can do that, but none use the 4MP 1/1.8" image sensor that the 5442 models use. Most IP cameras let you control at least some of the settings through an HTTP API. I thought there was an HTTP command to turn on/off...

    Review IPC-T5442TM-AS-LED (Full Color, Starlight+)

Both cameras use the same image sensor/lens. You can get color out of both ... if there's enough ambient white light at night, both cameras stay in color mode just the same (without having to use their built-in lights). When the ambient white light level goes low enough at night, the two...

Trying to decide between cameras for house

I haven't seen pricing posted for it yet. Hopefully soon. If you need a varifocal turret ASAP, Dahua has newer 2MP models. They use the same 2MP 1/2.8" image sensor as the 5231, but they have better low-light image performance...

    Review-OEM 4mp AI Cam IPC-T5442TM-AS Starlight+

I'm excited for this test! The Hik has a bigger f1.0 aperture (compared the 5442's f1.6), so it looks like the Hik should have an advantage... I'm curious to see how that plays out in a "same location" test.

Review of the Hikvision OEM model IPC-T2347G-LU 'ColorVu' IP CCTV camera.

The problem I've run into with putting tripwires close to the edge like that is sometimes the camera needs a little bit of time to detect the movement/classify it as motion. If the object has already crossed the line by the time the camera figures out that it's motion, the event may not fire.

If you go to Dahua's website (www.dahuasecurity.com), set the Location to "International", then search for "HFW5442", it should show you all of the 5442 bullet models. If you search for just "5442", it should show you all of the 5442 models (domes, bullets, turrets).

Review of the Hikvision OEM model IPC-T2347G-LU 'ColorVu' IP CCTV camera.

The Dahua 5442 models have options in IVS to filter on People and/or Vehicles. Blue Iris doesn't have any built-in AI at the moment. It can natively integrate with Sentry (a 3rd-party subscription service). Below are two other methods that folks have used to add AI to their BI solution. Both...

If you don't need a varifocal turret immediately, the 5442 models have the same great min. illumination spec as this camera (0.002 lux) but are 4MP. There's a 5442 varifocal turret model coming out in the next few weeks, IIRC. Review-OEM 4mp AI Cam IPC-T5442TM-AS Starlight+
