My Dahua camera is suddenly stuck in b&w... (And what settings do you use in day for ALPR?)

Aha, good idea. Somehow I missed that setting before. I just set day to "color", hoping for the best. Do most people set night to "b&w"?

Question about ignoring a car/plate in OpenALPR

I had the same issue, and oddly setting a mask in OpenALPR didn't fix it, it would still catch that plate. I have the same camera as yours, and what fixed it for me was "privacy masking", which puts a little black square over the area. It's a bit buried: Camera -> Video -> Overlay -> Privacy...

My Dahua camera is suddenly stuck in b&w... (And what settings do you use in day for ALPR?)

I'm using the scheduler in Conditions -> Profile Management -> Schedule. It's switching between the Day and Night profile, if I'm understanding that tab correctly. Then using the slider I'm setting Day to the time of first light, and "night" to the time of last light (eventually I'll use a...

Recommended computer for ALPR with 2 cameras?

Wow, that's amazing, that service has found every plate I've fed to it so far (and for anyone else, there's a typo in the domain, I think it's findbyplate.com). They have an API for automated lookups, but it's surprisingly expensive at two cents a lookup...

Recommended computer for ALPR with 2 cameras?

As far as the NVIDIA cards, is there some way to tell if the card's GPU is being utilized? I have another thinkpad (a different model T530) that has two GPU's (I think), an Intel and an Nvidia, so i'm curious to see which it's using. I'm using the paid version of OpenALPR in Ubuntu. I guess I...

My Dahua camera is suddenly stuck in b&w... (And what settings do you use in day for ALPR?)

Argh, happened again this morning, stuck in black and white. I'm not sure what exactly fixed it but I think it was when I went to Conditions -> Style and re-selected "Standard". It was already selected, just needed to reselect it. Has anyone else had this problem?

Recommended computer for ALPR with 2 cameras?

Thanks for the fantastic tips. I just zoomed in a bit (see attached), do you think I'd be better off zooming even more? One factor is that I've been stubbornly trying to make this camera an "overview" cam as well as doing ALPR duty. I have a feeling I should give up on that and focus only on...

My Dahua camera is suddenly stuck in b&w... (And what settings do you use in day for ALPR?)

Well shoot, rebooting the camera fixed the b&w issue. I'm hoping that's rare... Has anyone else experienced this? I guess I could set the camera to auto reboot. Still curious what settings people are using for daytime. And oops I forgot to mention I'm using a Dahua IPC-HFW5231E-Z12E, latest...

My Dahua camera is suddenly stuck in b&w... (And what settings do you use in day for ALPR?)

I was setting up nighttime schedules yesterday, which greatly helped my ALPR at night. But now my daytime image is stuck in b&w and I can't figure out why. I don't imagine anyone has any ideas? Attached are my settings and a sample of the b&w image. And for daytime ALPR, can I get away with an...

Recommended computer for ALPR with 2 cameras?

I'm setting up an ALPR system using a Dahua IPC-HFW5231E-Z12E's and OpenALPR. Eventually I'll be using two cameras. I'm using an older Thinkpad, the T530, with only 8 megs of RAM, running Ubuntu. Under powered I know. I have the camera set at 15 fps. Attached is my view of the license plate...

Has anyone tried the IPC-HFW7442H-Z? (Does on-camera ALPR) (or general advice about on-camera ALPR)

I've been using the HFW5241E-Z12E to do ALPR with OpenALPR (using Watchman), but I'm using it in a commercial environment so it costs $50/month per camera, and I have two cameras. That adds up. The IPC-HFW7442H-Z does ALPR on camera and costs about $450 from Andy. I'm wondering if anyone has...

    Review-Dahua IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E AI Varifocal Bullet

A shame that the 1980s font (as you nicely put it) on the OSD isn't updated on this model. It looks so heinous I have a Python script doing the OSD timestamps for my uploads. What is Dahua thinking?

Is the IPC-HFW5231E-Z12E still the way to go?

I have a single IPC-HFW5231E-Z12E working through OpenALPR, it works pretty well. Some issues with nighttime vision, which I gather is a known issue (I'm hoping I can make a script to correct it's nighttime exposure levels). I'm not on site with the camera so haven't been able to experiment...

    Question about IPC-HFW5231E-Z12E

Definitely a firmware issue, at least as far as rendering the webpage goes, since the webpage is stored in the firmware. But this makes me wonder if it's possible to write some HTML that would easily embed the camera live feed, both for these newer cameras that natively support it already, and...

Live video from a IPC-HFW5231E-Z12E works in Chrome!

I'm a long time user of multiple Dahua SD49225T-HN cameras, through various firmwares, and by now I'm used to having to jump through hoops to get the live video feed to work in the web interface. Digging up that old version of Internet Explorer, trying various sketchy plugins for Chrome and...

    Question about IPC-HFW5231E-Z12E

I'm helping some friends get LPR working at their campground, and picked up an IPC-HFW5231E-Z12E. I'm not seeing any LPR built into the camera itself though. Is this expected? Or am I just missing it? I was expecting something like this: Or this...

Why don't TinyCam be on iOS

Can you give a specific example of something that Tiny Cam Pro does that you think wouldn't be possible in an App Store approved iOS app?

Why don't TinyCam be on iOS

Nonsense. There's lots of apps in the App Store that work just fine with my Dahua camera for example, controlling all aspects of it. The problem is they're low quality apps, not that the functionality is missing or impossible. A camera viewer is just a movie player that sends requests via what...

Why don't TinyCam be on iOS

I agree! I used to use Live Cams Pro on an iPad, which was pretty good, though still not as good as Tiny Cams Pro. That's now gone from the App Store for some reason. Would be awesome to have something as good as Tiny Cam Pro on iOS. And if anyone knows of a good iOS alternative, please post!

Best simple lightweight iPad camera viewer?

I used to use Live Cams Pro for iPad, but apparently that's no longer in the App Store, at least not here in the US. I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a nice simple camera viewer for iPad? Ideally something as similar as possible to Tiny Cams Pro (Android) but for iOS. I'm...

EasyPTZ: a new simple camera viewer for Windows

Sorry about that, I really need to fix that. In the meantime the workaround is to run it as admin. You can right click and choose properties and set it to run as admin if you want to run as admin every time. Or maybe you can just run it as admin when you want to edit the config.

EasyPTZ: a new simple camera viewer for Windows

Whoops! I just uploaded a fix for that. Let me know what you find with the cache. An easy way to test it would be to click File -> Settings and make some change, to a camera name for example, and see if it works.

EasyPTZ: a new simple camera viewer for Windows

Hmm that's a weird one. Could you try the version I just uploaded (v0.901)? Also I added the ability to make a button adjust the iris of the camera. Set the button action to "iris+" or "iris-". I'll be adding more dedicated buttons for these things soon, but that's a start. gizmoware.net/easyptz
