EasyPTZ: a new simple camera viewer for Windows

K, it's back to 15 buttons again in version .891, freshly uploaded: gizmoware.net/easyptz (It only shows those 15 buttons if the window is wider than 1000 pixels fyi).

EasyPTZ: a new simple camera viewer for Windows

    > is it possible to extend the numbers of cameras up to 20 (or user defined)? Done! And sorry for the late response, for some reason the forum wasn't emailing me about new posts. I just posted a new version: - ability to have up to 30 cameras - much faster startup time - fullscreen video...

Advice for simple cellular internet connected camera?

We'd still need a hotspot for something like that though. Since his needs are so simple I'm hoping there might be some all-in-one gizmo with internet connectivity that does this. Agreed on the sensor approach and I mentioned it but he said there's a few things that would be helpful just to get...

Advice for simple cellular internet connected camera?

I'm helping a friend set up a system to monitor a pump at a remote oyster farm. He needs to see a live view of the camera on demand, or possibly simply see an image that was uploaded once every 15 minutes or so. He's minimally tech savvy. There's no internet on site, but there is good cellular...

Any tips to waterproof wires when pole mounting?

    > Can you describe how you plan to mount the camera to the pole? Currently I'm mounting the camera to a vertical steel pole using large pipe clamps.

Any tips to waterproof wires when pole mounting?

    > some folks are having a lot of trouble with the SD49225T-HN model camera. Luckily not me! I've got two, both rock solid for about 4 months now.

Any tips to waterproof wires when pole mounting?

    > I always recommend the PFA-122 box for this type of camera. Very interesting. With a pole mount, do you mount the camera to the box, and then the box to the pole?

Any tips to waterproof wires when pole mounting?

Great idea but I don't think the wires from the camera are long enough. The ethernet cable, which is the longest, sticks about about 4 inches from the camera if I remember correctly.

Any tips to waterproof wires when pole mounting?

I'm mounting a Dahua Starlight camera (this style) to a pole, which means I can't tick the wires into the chamber I'd get if I was wall mounting it. I'm also not crimping my ethernet cable, so I can't use the ethernet cable protector that comes with it, since it won't slip over the jack. I was...

EasyPTZ: a new simple camera viewer for Windows

You're very welcome. I'm really liking being able to click/touch to pan the camera, which should be working well now. Very handy on a Surface. Coming soon if all goes well is pinch to zoom in/out (as a camera control, not a digital zoom).

EasyPTZ: a new simple camera viewer for Windows

Yup, already possible. I'm planning to change the basic structure of the GUI so I haven't built a GUI for making configurations yet, but see the camera_force_url parameter here: EasyPTZ - Dahua Camera Controller for Windows For example, if you wanted to add a camera (or any media source) with...

Possible to change duration of each stop of a Tour?

Ha that would be funny. I've heard good things about them, but come to think of it have never seen a user generated demo so maybe all those accounts are based on fabricated demos. Seems very doable with a transmitting gps (phone app) that can set presets in the camera. Thinking aloud: go to a...

Possible to change duration of each stop of a Tour?

Too bad, if the API had a way to query the camera's coordinates and tell the camera to go to specific coordinates, I was thinking it would be possible to make a tracking system like this: SOLOSHOT® Robot Cameraman‎ I guess it would still be possible using presets as calibration points.

Possible to change duration of each stop of a Tour?

I thought so too but then discovered that the patterns and "patrols" (I think that's the name, where the camera sweeps back and forth between two points) do the same thing as a tour except with with no pauses whatsoever. And repeat that action forever.

Possible to change duration of each stop of a Tour?

Thanks. I was hoping there's some functionality in the dahua API that I missed that allows for querying the camera's current position (in degrees XYZ or whatever) and storing it outside the camera's internal presets. It does however make it easy to store presets at any position, with the only...

Possible to change duration of each stop of a Tour?

Great. I tried it but it was definitely overkill for my non security oriented use (to be expected since it's for security), and it kept pegging my CPU at 100% . I love the lightweight simplicity of TinyCam Pro for Android and wanted to make something similar for non mobile. Out of curiosity...

Possible to change duration of each stop of a Tour?

Agreed about the firmware update. In its current form the tour feature isn't very useful. I can't imagine wanting a tour where it stays at each stop for 15 seconds. On a sidenote I made a little Windows program to control my Dahua camera, it has the ability to define tours of any duration...

EasyPTZ: a new simple camera viewer for Windows

Interesting and thanks for the clue, I'll do some testing with h265 encoding. My cameras are all set to h264 so it's possible I need to make some adjustments for that. If you want to test, one easy thing that I bet will fix it: comment out the vlc_path line in the config file file and install...
