    Testing POE Switch

So I have a POE switch and waiting for my camera, is there a way to check if my switch actually works? Meaning can I connect my switch to my BI server and somehow ping or test a port on the switch , I am just little eager to test before my camera arrives :).

Test rig question - Camera hanging from ceiling

I have never done this before so i might be asking a dumb question. I am trying to mimic a close set up like how i would actually mount this camera. I will be using a junction box , the way you described wouldn't the camera be vertical vs horizontal ( when mounted using junction box)?

Test rig question - Camera hanging from ceiling

After reading and some recommendations from pro looks like it is a good idea to set up a test rig before pulling the cables. Like how others have mentioned, I will get a 5 gallon bucket with some rocks , dumbells and may be water softener pellets to hold the bucket. I plan to get a 6 foot 2...

    Review-OEM Loryta IPC-T5442T-ZE Varifocal 4mp camera (Dahua)

Hello...has anyone had issues or noticed any features missing when using and configuring IPC-T5442T-ZE through BI via a server VS a Dahua NVR. I am planning to build a system using IPC-T5442T-ZE but instead of using NVR I am more inclined to use a server with BI. Wanted to get some feedback if...

    NVR vs Dedicated server

Before posting this question I did some search on here to see what others have to say. Looks like using computer instead of NVR along with BI is the way to go. Are there any features I would lose if I do not go with NVR? My reason to with computer is I can tweak settings, mix and match...

Thanks. Yeah I want something to be able to see about 40 - 50 feet away from the camera since that is the distance between camera and swing/playset etc. I was hoping to just have one camera in the back yard. I think PTZ feature is really cool. Is there a PTZ camera that comes to your mind to...

All point noted. I plan to get one NVR5208-8P-4KS2E for the NVR and 1 IPC-T5442T-ZE and will test it out. Andy mentioned these are Dahua OEM's? Does anyone sell actual Dahua brand one's? Do you know if the NVR comes with any software or BI is the way to go for mobile and desktop?

Thanks. In the front I might be able to have camera on the beam of garage door that is about 7 - 8 feet. But the ones in the back and alley it will be around 12 - 15 feet right under the roof, i guess i can have it pull down but then there will be bit of wire visible. Are those good locations?
