    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

I realise that but for some reason this one was set to 192.168.0.42. Andy helped me with the questions I had regarding the NVR and firewall and had to connect my NVR PoE switch to my regular switch so that I could access it. All changed and it seems to be running now.

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

OK, turns out that this whitebox version doesn't have a button and I need to short 2 points on the camera. That said, I've made some progress and can now at least get the NVR to detect it. But, camera, as suspected is on the wrong subnet and I can't seem to change it either via the NVR or...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Lights came on in the switch, IR lights don't come on in the dark. I skyped with Andy last night we tried a few things like disconnecting all my other cameras and making sure nothing was on 192.168.1.108. The NVR was at first but I moved that to a different IP. The Dahua config tool doesn't pick...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

I got my IPC-HDW5431R-Z of Andy yesterday. Damn fast shipping I must add, Ordered Friday and had it Monday in Australia. Anyway, not off to a good start as I can't seem to find the camera on the network, the IR lights aren't coming on either and I've tried a couple of PoE switches that work fine...

    NVR5216-16P-4KS2 firmware

Could someone please tell me what the latest firmware is on the NVR5216-16P-4KS2? I cannot find the firmware download page. Mine currently says: System Version:3.210.0002.2, Build Date: 2016-07-21

Actually, that's the only camera that is set to 5FPS, the others are set to 20, not 25.

    Guide to video settings?

Is there a best practice guide on what the optimal settings are for recording etc..? At the moment I have got everything maxed out, 25FPS, Constant bitrate set to high etc... but can't help thinking that it's probably a little over the top?

Best way to sync a Dahua nvr to external NAS?

I have a Dahua 16port NVR on the way and I wanted to hear about how people are keeping their footage in sync with a secondary data source in case the nvr is compromised? Looking for a realtime sync solution.

IPC-HDBW4421E suffering from ir sensor reflection

You may have missed the bit about me and a dislike of heights [emoji3] It was my fault for getting these cameras. Mostly due to inexperience and lack of awareness of this forum compounded with the 11.11 20% off sale AliExpress had last year, I rushed into making the wrong decision. I'm trying...

Not impressed with Dahua NVR software

That's how my snapshot emails are configured on my Dahua cameras but it's shocking with so many false positives

    NVR Recommendations - 11+ cameras

OK, so this is what I have decided to do. Build a BI box down the track with the latest generation PC gear when 4K cameras are a little more common rather than now and waste/under utilise the extra processing power on my 1080P cameras. In the short term, I'll grab the NVR5216-16P-4KS2 which has...

You could always just get the camera to email you in the interim while you figure it out?

IPC-HDBW4421E suffering from ir sensor reflection

Thanks, next time my electrician is over I'l get him to adjust it for me. It's on the second story roof eve and I suck with heights. What's a better camera type with similar field of view for outside?

IPC-HDBW4421E suffering from ir sensor reflection

I've got 3 Dahua IPC-HDBW4421E cameras that seem to be getting a reflection from the IR sensor. The glass domes are clean, what else can I do to try and fix? Daytime footage is crystal clear.

How have you found the NVR5216-4KS2 and how many cameras are you running of it? Also, being new here, who is Andy? Edit: Sorry, is @EMPIRETECANDY Andy? I read it as candy the first time around.

Have you got a build log here or would you mind sharing your hardware configuration? I'm going to start specing something up and will post back here for feedback but would love a base to start with.

where are you guys finding i7-6700 Dells under 500?

How did you guys get onto Dell/HP for a suitable build? Is there a subsection in the BI forums with build logs? If there is, I don't seem to see it.

    NVR Recommendations - 11+ cameras

Mine is chewing around 70W with around 11 cameras but as I'm getting something newer and more power efficient, I wouldn't put too much effort into it. A 30W windows machine capable of handling 11 cameras @ 1080P today would definitely be something I would be interested in reading about. Have you...

    NVR Recommendations - 11+ cameras

Uses less power than a windows PC so irrelevant in the context of this topic and it will be the next item on the list to replace with something a little quieter and more power efficient. The main reason it's still in use is because it's currently my only PoE switch (48-port). The location I...

    NVR Recommendations - 11+ cameras

I run Cisco gear at home as opposed to cheaper consumer switches. Whilst price is a factor, power consumption is a higher priority for me hence my question regarding what sort of power friendly hardware can be used with BI to record 4K?

    NVR Recommendations - 11+ cameras

I have nothing against windows or any platform. In fact at home I run CentOS, Windows, OSX, FreeBSD and embedded Linux. I've just found my nix boxes to be far more reliable than my Windows ones. But, seeing as you guys want to talk windows. What sort of hardware is required for 4K recording...

    NVR Recommendations - 11+ cameras

Thanks, I'll take a look. It's for home and I wanted a set and forget solution where firmware upgrades would be about the only thing I would need to worry about. Running a windows solution doesn't appeal to me as much as something running embedded linux like most NVRs. Less OS maintenance from...

Pardon my ignorance as I'm still fairly new to this. I thought ONVIF allowed me to still get basic functionality on a compatible NVR?
