    right so i don't understand what I would need to power the microphone. 12v power is not available next to the camera and there's no outlets in the area. Hence the decision to go POE in the first place?

    Well I use POE for everything to avoid having to add new outlets everywhere my cameras are located... If I have to have 110v power i guess I will have to continue going without sound.
