    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

I recall someone else mentioning the crazy\stupidly low bit-rate with this camera. I know variable changes, but not used to a 4k camera pushing a 200 kBs on highest quality settings when my 2k Dahua's HDW5442T-ZE require 600-700 kBs. That's like 3x retention for nothing with lower compute...

Best night cam special use case - No illum/No Ident

In a very dark location, I need to use the in-built LED or external lighting, works well for objects up close, but don't expect the led to illuminate any objects in the distance. I found a low-powered solar light works well. I also have the DS-2CD2087G2-L(U) which does perform better in low...

    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

I have a few different ones, but specifically comparing to the IPC-HDW5442T-ZE. IPC-HDW5442T-ZE stills look picture perfect, but get any motion and there is no detail. Tried auto and the various manual modes and tips from the threads here for this specific camera, but I am disappointed with all...

    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

Stills mean very little, I can get a good night picture with any cam. I have a 2.8 ColorVu as an overview and 3 overlapping Dahua varifocals. When on maximum zoom, really disappointed with the Dahua night performance, should have gone fixed focus. Guess that is another lesson. The other...

    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

I have the LED turn on when it detects a person, when the LED goes on, people seem to look directly at the camera for just a brief instant which enables a clear shot of the face. Not magic just an extra active deterrent.

[tool] [tutorial] Free AI Person Detection for Blue Iris

Has been a while since I set it up, I recommend; a) Using the dynamic mask feature b) Having a cooldown of at least 10sec under AI Tool -> Camera -> Actions (10s could be the default, perhaps you changed it) Although I don't recall it being directly related, in BI -> Camera -> Triggers set a...

[tool] [tutorial] Free AI Person Detection for Blue Iris

Okay, so I have found a new use for AI Tool a) Flag my BI Clips (I constant record), to quickly review footage b) Send Telegram Alerts when people are detected when I am away c) On Object detection, trigger a clone of my overview CAM (this creates a daily view) for my playback The new use which...

PoE Extender - 2 Cameras on 1 Cable

Sorry really dumb question the specs say seem to imply to run 3 cameras you need to extenders, with 1 cam to each Extender. ie: The out port is not designed to have a camera attached, only the cam port, ie: designed as Ethernet extenders. I am reading your post as you were able to connect to...

    NVR VS Blue Iris

Reliability and Cheap to Run = NVR (Dahua NVR will support non-Dahua ONVIF compliant cameras, but not all features will be available. Just the same as running them under BI) You also get to use the advanced Video Formats so you can store...

HW acceleration errors and wonky behaviors...

I agree a refurb is the way to go, I personally would not recommend "limit decode" as you can experience some weird behavior. If you do decide to upgrade your cameras, be sure to use sub-streams this really reduces load on the system. PS; H.265 is always more resource intensive both on the PC...

IPC-T5442T-ZE dual IR - electrical tape?

So same version version as all of us, yes older build date. Different build dates though, yours is older. Perhaps you had a pre-release version and they pulled the feature before official release.

IPC-T5442T-ZE dual IR - electrical tape?

I did the factory reset before updating it, but not after. Will try again, both the Cam and F\W were from Andy.

IPC-T5442T-ZE dual IR - electrical tape?

I supposedly have this camera, System VersionV2.800.15OG004.0.R, Build Date: 2020-12-03 and also just have the single control.

Doubt it I am running a GTX 745 and it's still working fine on the latest release. Have checked it's still using the CPU. A 1080ti, while not a 3000 series is not an old GPU. Wasted in this application though.

Need help setting up port forwarding

Good write up. It should be noted that the first type, home to the internet while pro-privacy does come with risks. The key one being you delegate the trust of filtering internet traffic to your VPN provider, as such a host based firewall (even windows defender configured properly is...

    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

Wow David, I agree that doesn't make sense, even for VBR that is a ridiculously low BitRate, I am confused. If it wasn't for the screen shot showing 8MP, I would have thought you have connected to the Sub-Stream!! But your screen grap looks very clear. I am only guessing, wondering if the BI...

    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

As pointed out by others the cam is kbits and bi is bytes. 1 bit = 0.125 BytesI don't have this cam, butI also feel the CBR is a targeted bit rate, and with the efficiency of H.265 it often won't reach the target bitrate. This isn't so much a flaw, but a positive of the high efficiency of...

Are there IP Cameras (for outdoor) with night vision but not IR LED night vision?

They could also just look with their eyes and see where the cameras are. Generally speaking the IR coverage is wider than the camera's FOV so if anything they may assume more coverage than you have. In reality someone going to that extent would just put on a mask, sun glasses and hoodie\cap...

Does using AI for motion detection reduce minimum system requirements enough to run on an i3 Nuc?

While you are correct in your recommendation, you are however wrong about i3's not supporting QuickSync. I have a old i3-8109U in a 2018 NUC and that definitely supports quicksync and happily runs a 6 4k cameras. NUC's are designed to run 24x7, which is why a lot of people buy them, even though...

Does using AI for motion detection reduce minimum system requirements enough to run on an i3 Nuc?

If you enable sub-streams, direct to disk recording and hardware decode should be absolutely fine. If it does struggle try H.264 not H.265 much lower CPU requirements. Deepstack is quite low on resources, I wouldn't even bother with the Intel Movidius, especially under windows just too...

Have a proposed system build. Need advice please.

That CPU supports quicksync, so with 4 cameras and using sub-streams I think you would be fine. Write video directly to the Purple drive though, don't write to the SSD's first. Sure writing to the SSD's first would work, but you increase your overall IO shuffling things around and the system...

    Key Not Found

It's a problem with BI servers, I had this issue today with all my installs. On the phone edit the connection and "de-select Lookup Key at each logon" then manually enter your WAN IP and Port. Hint: It's easier to Delete and Re-scan the QR code, as when it adds the new connection, adds with...

    Graphics card options on PC

You don't need a GPU, infact if you add a a GPU, you may need a dongle or other tricks to get CPU Hardware decoding working correcty. If you do need a GPU, consider the nvidia not because it's better but supported by other tools such as DeepStack GPU used with AI Tools. I have a $10 Nvidia GPU...

    Dahua IPC-HDW5442TM-AS VBR looks terrible

Lol.. that is a reach. There is a big difference to not wanting to pony up for cash and being wasteful. 3x the space usage (especially at night), could make the difference between someone using constant recording vs trigger recording. I also find that even with 1gb pipes, VBR places less...

    Dahua IPC-HDW5442TM-AS VBR looks terrible

Similar experience except I use a lower frame rate. The thing is though 8192 at CBR is well what it says, that's a lot of disk space, compared to a Hikvision running VBR no problems. (Disk savings are huge, especially at night) :(

    Dahua IPC-HDW5442TM-AS VBR looks terrible

In all of my Dahua's VBR hasn't been the best, on some it improved after a firmware upgrade but is never as clear as CBR. As others have said with VBR need to really up the Bit rate as high as it goes and iFrame around 3x frame rate (be aware BI direct to disk recording starts on the next...

    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

Need some front light. Light behind won't help capture a face walking towards those cameras. There is no substitute for good light, a good security light on it's own is a great deterrent at night and a bonus if you have CCTV just makes the footage at night so much better. If you don't want to...

Help! Need to catch mice or rats on camera at night!

If you can't kill them for legal reasons (native mouse or something) use a cage trap. They trap the rat or animal in-side. If the food is gone afterwards and you didn't catch anything then it's a mouse. TIO: Crunchy Peanut Butter works better than cheese!! Rodents move so fast you need a...
