Thanks that answers all my questions. The switches will be sitting one on top of the other. All-in-one item lost me there.

    DELL COUPON

Here is a 10% off Dell coupon I just received M$QGHBX998B4XB. Very restrictive, no refurbished items. Pretty much on new items only. Good from 10/10/17 to 11/09/17. Maybe someone can use it.

    DAISY CHAIN

I was hoping to link the two switches using just the SFP ports, not using the POE ports, so as not to lose POE ports. Does that work or does it have to be POE to POE? Just trying to clarify what you stated above. And yes it has to simpler at least for me.

    DAISY CHAIN

How would one go about connecting two unmanaged POE switchs together if you where using a switch such as the Zyxel GS1100-10HP. It has 8 POE slots and 2 open SFP slots. Can you use the SFP slots instead of the POE slots for connection back to the computer thus saving a POE slot.

    UNMANAGED SWITCH SUGGESTIONS

With this description: This switch has 8 10/100 PoE powered ports with 2 additional 10/100/1000 gigabit non-powered uplink ports. Would this be considered a fast Ethernet or gigabit switch?

    UNMANAGED SWITCH SUGGESTIONS

Mark I really appreciate your input. I’m not willing at this point to except any risk. If I wasn’t so inept the managed switchs I purchased would have worked out fine. At this point I just want to get my system up and running. It appears this switch is more of a vital part to the system than I...

    UNMANAGED SWITCH SUGGESTIONS

To me also, I’m going by what is suggested here and researching. When I started I had no idea what a name brand POE switch was or for that matter what it is. I’m going by what I read here. Zyxel was my first choice based on one of your recommendations. So it still appears that an 8 plus port...

    UNMANAGED SWITCH SUGGESTIONS

This is from Amazon question section about this product. Question: Will this power Grandstream IP phones? Answer: Short answer is YES, it will power the IP Phone. The V7 POE switch uses networking standard IEEE 802.3at. Reading up on the Grandstream IP phones, they also use the IEEE standard...

    UNMANAGED SWITCH SUGGESTIONS

Giomania is the V7 a name brand company? Seem very inexpensive for what it does compared to other companies. $85.00 total. Know anyone that has used this one with success. Mr. F, I would then need two of these tp-links to accomplish my task, 10 cameras. $250.00 total. $85.00 vs $250.00 quite...

    UNMANAGED SWITCH SUGGESTIONS

Not sure what you mean but if I try the http under your post nothing happens. I have read many most on switches and you were well represented. The problem is many of the suggested switches have only half of the poe ports I need. Strange it’s this difficult to find a Poe’s switch for my needs...

    UNMANAGED SWITCH SUGGESTIONS

I’m looking for an unmanaged Switch for my system. I need at least 10 ports with POE to start. It must be plug and play with no IP address configurations. Idiot proof. Two separate units would be ok but must still be plug and play, would prefer one though. I had wonderful help here trying to...

    ZYXEL TO ZYXEL MANAGED SWITCH

I separated this thread thinking it was a different subject than my other about switchs and that one was getting a bit long. Both my switches work great and can be accessed via a web browser. The two have separate IP addresses. When I attached the two together via Ethernet cable a problem...

    COMPUTER HELP

Most likely I’ll just get everything new that’s needed. The power supply got toasted also. So my thinking, from what your saying, is the CPU, MEMORY, SSD maybe still good. I know the HD is still good. I’ll do some price checking to see what I come up with. If under or around $400 I’ll go ahead...

    ZYXEL 1900 MANAGED SWITCH

Mr. F execellent advise but that horse left the barn already. While basking in my success I shut down everything. The up side I can now do this in my sleep. My advise, through experience now, to anyone wanting just a few cameras like me to hell with a managed switch. Great experience though.

    COMPUTER HELP

Thanks Chris I’ve abandoned the parts swapping; the risk thing. I’m going to just purchase a new motherboard and go that route. Depending on cost that is. It would be a shame to throw away a i7-6700k cpu.

    ZYXEL 1900 MANAGED SWITCH

The router is 192.168.10.254. "then the switch must be 192.168.10.X....where X is not being used by another device... " or should it now be 192.168.10.XXX because of the .254, like 192.168.10.260? Also I have a second switch same model. That would require a different IP address also? They...

    ZYXEL 1900 MANAGED SWITCH

Noloc I went on recommendations from fellow members as to what a good switch would be as well as computer and cameras. I didn’t think there would be much of a difference setting up a managed or unmanaged switch. Still don’t know as I never had an unmanaged switch or managed for that matter...
