    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

Read the article. Most of those deaths SHOULD be classified as COVID deaths. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

Asymptomatic folks are a very small percentage of overall tests (last I heard under 5%, captured during routine screens). Many of these are actually presymptomatic (meaning they develop symptoms later). But most people getting tested do so because they feel sick. Specific exceptions for those in...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

COVID-19 Is even more infectious than the flu, by several fold, and due to the long potential incubation period before symptoms (up to ~two weeks versus just a few days for flu), it's relatively easy for people to think they aren't sick when they are infectious and spreading it. Studies show a...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

No, unless there is a positive COVID-19 test, it's not a COVID-19 case, with rare exceptions. Most of the non-positive-test cases on the books were from early in the pandemic before the tests were widely available, and frankly many of the doctors didn't bother with it because the cases were both...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

The problem stems from two big issues: Many states, due to ignorance, put into place confusing and sometimes nonsensical rules for deciding what a case or a COVID-19 death was. Mostly this only affected fringe cases, but it fuels a fire of disbelief in the numbers as a whole. The other problem...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

Nice. Two super conservative hit pieces and an April-vintage WaPo article from before the impact of cloth masks on stemming transmission from asymptomatic/pre-symptomatic spreaders was understood. What drives me nuts is that there are objective facts to be be seen, tested and verified... and...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

@bigredfish, just read the analysis. I've read the original at archive.org and the AIER review. Both are critically flawed. For example: "“These data analyses suggest that in contrast to most people’s assumptions, the number of deaths by COVID-19 is not alarming. In fact, it has relatively...

You really shouldn't try to commit burglaries in your own car

Thanks for this detail. So, about 8 msec exposure, comparable to what I use. That 2MP 1/2.8" Starlight sensor rocks. My neighborhood is much darker, and several of my cameras are higher res affairs more optimized to daytime. I don't come close to that clarity even with a heap of supplemental IR...

You really shouldn't try to commit burglaries in your own car

What type of camera is the PTZ around ~1:39? I'm blown away by the clarity and lack of grain/motion blur. Maybe your neighborhood has lots more light than mine, or maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Hardware Dedicated Blueiris PC? is it a Good Deal ?

I was about to suggest getting a <$300 eBay PC (I have one that was $250 2 years ago), but 28 or 30 cameras is out of my league. Cost of PC irrelevant compared to cameras. I don't think the i7-9700 is a laptop CPU... usually those end in -U or -T, and are power saving variants...

Lazy & careless Amazon driver TWO days in a row

In Maryland where I grew up, a wanna-be cat burglar tried to break into an art museum. The intent was to open one of the skylights and come down on a rope. Least competent criminal apparently encountered some problem while opening the skylight, fell through it, and was seriously injured in the...

    Tapatalk update

Thanks @Mike . I never bothered to report any issues, but I noticed with Tapatalk the "like" button doesn't give options (like love, sad, mad...). I wonder if this would be fixed with an update?

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

Active cases is not a terribly useful metric because it requires a lot of follow-up to maintain. Cases overall is a useful one because it is a leading indicator ... while many cases are relatively harmless, many are not, and ICU usage tends to follow within a couple weeks of a case spike...

Please link your source. I believe that the analysis above doesn't take into account that the most common commodities listed along with COVID-19 on death certificates are actually CAUSED BY COVID-19. This creates a false perception that most people who died had a serious pre-existing condition.

People, virions leaving the body through nose and mouth are mostly attached to droplets of water that are large enough to be caught by plain masks. The smoke analogy is bogus... Cigarette smoke particles aren't attached to water droplets Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

OK, ok, if you don't believe it that's fine. :) But for the record: warm, wet spray is trapped on the way out much better than fine, dry particles on the way "in." No doubt. Funny story: I was drinking some diet coke inside an airport while checking in (returning from my father's burial) in a...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

No, not at all. Outgoing droplets bearing virus are large and wet and relatively easily stopped by masks. In air the water evaporates and the particle size shrinks and is more easy to make it through the mask of a healthy person wearing a mask. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk

One more thing: just because 70% percent are mask wearers actually says nothing about how infective they are while wearing a mask. Maybe without the masks they would have infected 10x as many people... It's not a simple math equation. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
