    VPN Primer for Noobs

I connected to my camera streams today for the first time, remotely. It worked perfectly on my Android phone. When I wasn't connected to the VPN, I got "couldn't connect" when I tried through Gdmss Plus. After connecting to the VPN, I could pull up the streams.

    NVR5416-16P-4KS2E and Smart PSS help.

Ok, I realized that the USB extender still only controls what happens on the NVR downstairs. It doesn't control what happens upstairs. It looks like there isn't a way for any of the USB ports to control what happens on HDMI 2. I think my outstanding question is still how can I get full system...

    NVR5416-16P-4KS2E and Smart PSS help.

Ok, I've got it so it's "touring" on HDMI 2 to the upstairs TV. How can I get full system control on the upstairs TV from the mouse? I want access to all of the menus, just like I can on the downstairs TV. I have the bottom USB mouse port controlling my downstairs TV. I have the top USB...

    NVR5416-16P-4KS2E and Smart PSS help.

So, my last remaining question in this thread. How do I get my upstairs TV to stop showing channel 1? How can I have full control, and go to various system menus? Why is it only showing channel 1? Based on the screen shot above, it should at least show channel 5.

Ok, I logged into my NVR through my web browser, then went to system, display, and changed HDMI 1 back to 1080p. Thank goodness.

I don't know what happened to @jmcu's post. But that screen shot helped. I can see the PSS playback section now. I figured how how to playback. Great! How do I reset the resolution on HDMI1 so it's 1080p? Or how do I get full mouse control on my TV upstairs through HDMI 2 so I can change...

    NVR5416-16P-4KS2E and Smart PSS help.

HDMI1 is connected directly to the downstairs TV. That's the 1080p TV. I had set HDMI1 to a higher resolution than 1080p to see if something would change. HDMI2 is connected to a HDMI extender, which is going to the upstairs 4K TV. That's the one that always shows channel D1, no matter what...

    NVR5416-16P-4KS2E and Smart PSS help.

What happens if I set HDMI to a resolution that my TV doesn't support? I changed HDMI1 to something higher than 1080p, just to see what would happen. I'm getting a blank screen now on the downstairs TV. I wanted to see if it would change what was showing on the upstairs TV.

    NVR5416-16P-4KS2E and Smart PSS help.

@EMPIRETECANDY I'm having some initial setup problems. 1) HDMI 1 is my downstairs TV. HDMI 2 is my upstairs TV. I am using a HDMI extender from HDMI 2 to my upstairs TV. I am also using a USB extender connected to one of the USB ports on the NVR. All I ever see on my upstairs TV is...

Looking for a camera security system.

Had the cameras and NVR installed today. Total power from the APC with the switch, router, modem, Tivo, Ooma, and NVR is 98 - 100 watts. That has an estimated runtime of 72 minutes. I'll post overall thoughts later on the system, and make a few thread specific questions.

Looking for a camera security system.

I plugged in the following into a Kill A Watt meter: * Speakers (two power cords) * PC power * Monitor * Light switch * Ooma VoIP I plan to move the speakers to the "surge only" ports of my APC battery backup, once I get a longer power cord, in a few days. With the PC and monitor off, the...

What if I need another hardwired port?

I am going to get the TP-Link TL-SG108E switch. Will my Asus router's web UI still list all of the connected devices that are connected through the switch? Or will I have to see TP Link's UI to see those connected devices?

Can you get a new router? I ended up doing so, recently, in July. Because I wanted a router which supported VPN. I don't see any difference when I'm connected to my home network. Nothing changed. Only now, I can log into my router remotely through the VPN.

    VPN Primer for Noobs

I looked this morning, and all I was seeing was Gdmss Lite. Almost every result through the first 2 pages of searching. It didn't make sense for me to see a Lite without seeing any other version, and I wasn't finding another version. So after a few minutes of searching and not finding...

I am not sure, but I think if you have a new router, then you'll need a new profile. That's my guess.

    Dahua 5231R-ZE Recording Rule Profiles.

Ok. I remember one of the installers from last year, who did an onsite visit, telling me that it could recognize faces. He gave the example of say a package delivery carrier had come by a few times and dropped packages off at the door. If, at a later date, it saw that face was now in the...

Is it possible to set a recording rule where if it sees my face, then don't record? What about if it sees my face and it's between a certain time range, then don't record?

Thanks. I unplugged it for a minute. It estimated between 135 - 149 mins (it kept going to different numbers within that range). As soon as I plugged it back in, it said 146 minutes. I also just found this, which says that for loads less than 10%, it doesn't do a good job estimating. My...

Looking for a camera security system.

I've plugged in: Router, modem, landline phone, and Tivo. This takes 36 - 39 Watts. I couldn't plug in the Ooma because the shape of the plug blocks too many outlets. So that's in my old surge protector for now. This seems pretty good, pre-NVR. I have 2 empty battery backed outlets, which...

Looking for a camera security system.

I just plugged in my APC. I think it needs 16 hours to charge, even though it says the runtime with 0 load is 179 mins. So I will check back Saturday evening, and start plugging in stuff then.
