Lux rating vs Sensor size question

Yes, but the point I am making is that most people just plug their cameras and don't spend the time to tweak them let alone look through the setting and set then up for the environment. So If thats they way they want go, go get an Arlo, ring or other brand made for those less technically...

Lux rating vs Sensor size question

If you arent willing to tweak the camera settings to squeeze its performance then you are better off getting an arlo / nest and being a sucker.

Lux rating vs Sensor size question

"Optical zoom is a waste for 99.9 percent of people as you are not going to be sitting there maning the cameras 24/7." there is some truth to that, but I have to disagree. Having the optical zoom combined with IVS is a great tool, plus it can even allow you to fine tune your view framing. Only...

Lux rating vs Sensor size question

Post updated with part numbers and lux information. These are entry level but in regards to form factor they are as big as I can install on my house due to HOA contraints and paranoid neighbors. Optical zoom is just awesome.

Lux rating vs Sensor size question

That is a shame if dahua isnt consistent with their cameras. Makes it sort of a guess game. So far I have found that most 4 mp cameras are a good compromise. Although I have realized that the more MP the more noise in the footage at low lights. Correct observation?

PVC, EMT, or Flex conduit ?

You glue it to keep the water out. The last thing you want is water moisture sitting in your conduit. I rather have exposed cables. For me the reason to install cables inside a conduit it to protect them or make it hard for someone who wants to disable my cameras a bit more difficult. I have a...

Live view on monitors in house ?

I am just wondering of many of you see value in having you cameras up on a monitor or dedicated TV at home. The past few weeks I have been doing this and I really like being able to glance over and see that my driveway and front door are ok. I am even able to go meet the UPS guys at the door and...

Newb question ~ Why do you put SD cards in IP cameras?

I just ordered one of the WD purple SD cards to install in my cameras. can't wait to try them out. To the OP. If some one were to steal your NVR, you have footage on the camera - unless they steal them also but that would be very unlikely.

PVC, EMT, or Flex conduit ?

Thank you guys. I agree, I realized I can paint it with krylon to match the exterior. I just dislike having to put pull boxes here and there, or at every corner, or using the long 90 deg bends and couplings. I am the need to install two J-boxes within 12" in each other to install a second...

Upgrade to NVR or continue with NAS

@intention, get an NVR. I am most certain that id going to be better than a NAS if you dont want to go the blue Iris route. @fenderman and everyone else, I putting together a spec for a small form factor pc. However I cant fit a 3.5HD in there. It will instead have an SSD. So here is my...

PVC, EMT, or Flex conduit ?

Guys so for my information, what is the most commonly used conduit used for CCTV? I tried PVC and it is a bit of a pain in the ass - with having to glue it etc.. in the end for now I said screw it and left the CAT cable exposed (can't be reached) but I am looking for what works most of the time...

    LTS and Pelco vs. DAHUA

I was there until past it was dark outside and saw the camera feeds on the monitors. They looked not so good.. rather bad. Sure it depends on models etc, but like you said for the money they could have had a much better camera.

Upgrade to NVR or continue with NAS

If you dont have the time to invest in learning a bit more of the advanced stuff then yes, got the packaged NVR route. Blue Iris and any other VMS will require some setup. Or, how about you hire someone to set you up. I have decided to move way from the NAS for now. For a basic setup, maybe...

    LTS and Pelco vs. DAHUA

Yeah Insaw the Pelco cams at a county facily I visited yesterday for work. I am sure they are expensive and yes I do not have that county budget. In all honesty I am happy with dahua and hikvision. Thanks for the reply.
