Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

Perhaps, but that's outside the scope of this Dahua camera issue. I'm leaving BI PTZ disabled until I finish auto-tracking testing. I don't need any BI PTZ until the camera is installed outside anyway, as long as I can identify the cause of the continuous pan. My other PTZ (telephoto-use)...

Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

Nope, PTZ disabled in BI for this cam. I know what you mean though by BI lagginess at least. I have a ptz outside that is manual-control only and I've seen it misbehave before when manually panning. I think it was clicking the web interface (pc browser) bottons, not the phone app or using the...

Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

Hardware: I have it powered from a Netgear GS728TPP switch (no useful logging), which is powering 48W of other cameras (70W combined, out of rated 384W max poe). I also have a second GS728TP model. Just have my cameras split between them; in case one were to ever fail, I'd still have half my...

Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

Just got one of these for testing. 5 minutes into testing the IVR indoors, the camera went into continuous spinning? I had to log back into the web interface and reset the PTZ to get it working again (or a power cycle would have done the same). I haven't found anything about the cause of this...

    Best day time image camera?

Yep, great pair. One to catch detail (a 1/1.8" speed dome), and one to monitor overall area activity. There is no such thing as a single camera that can do everything, but a speed dome with auto tracking is a good compromise for general, one subject, surveillance.

Mini PTZ camera impressions! 2015 PTZ camera of the year? AVOID THIS CAMERA

Figured I'd come back here and provide some input. Going on 5 years now and my original Huisun 10x is still running strong via poe the entire time. Has been on the South side of the house, getting direct sun since install. Still happy with its performance, for its specs. Added a separate cam for...

    Over-allocation error on Windows-share

I figured this out awhile back - it just clicked while I was at work. The default service account on Windows is local - it doesn't allow network access. Updating the service to run as a custom user allows network access. I wasn't putting the disk space error and permissions together in m y head...

    Over-allocation error on Windows-share

I've tried to setup off-camserver storage for my long-term video retention. 8TB drive with zero files on it. BI shows over-allocation error if I connect to the network share either directly in BI, or via a mapped drive configured on the BI host. If I check the option for "Do NOT monitor free...

    New AMD Ryzen

Nice to see some real data. People can argue theoreticals all they want, but real data is all that matters. Hard to even catch the AMD chips on efficiency. My i7 BI system runs up near TDP only partially loaded. I'm not sure where the Intel chips may bottleneck with BI and HA, but would be...

    New AMD Ryzen

Those numbers look to be in a system with some other overhead/driver issues. My lower-interrupt PC did over "400MP/s" on an i7-3770 running at 8% average CPU utilization. My i7-4770 system consumes more CPU time due to some system overhead someplace, which I've quit caring about since I couldn't...

    New AMD Ryzen

Eh, I figure some future system will have different percentages again. Eventually I'll have an i7-6700 system for a reasonable price. There are a lot of components on a motherboard. It only takes one poorly performing device in an interrupt-based system to do this type of thing. Until then, I'll...

    New AMD Ryzen

Interesting. No, my 3770 system had HA enabled also. It ran at the same BI process CPU usage, but also higher idle. The 4770 shows no obvious advantage over the 3770, even in power consumption and IPC for BI workloads. I was hoping some better Quicksync performance would lower my overall CPU...

    New AMD Ryzen

Just get an older Intel system to run your cameras. My htpc was changed to an i5-3570 USFF PC that only cost me $110 shipped. That thing only has two SATA ports, but it's more CPU power than most people need for BI. It came with a Windows 7 Pro license. Fine to run as-is with a single...

    New AMD Ryzen

7700K supports Quicksync... I haven't tried it to see if BI has any problem with the CPU's IGP. The 7700K is in my main workstation.

    New AMD Ryzen

Ah, yeah - I never pay attention for Xeon CPUs other than ones that are intended for larger datacenter workloads (2 sockets or more). Some of the small-server E3 chips do have IGPs, but there's little point over the i7. ECC would be an advantage, but also at higher power consumption. MHz adds...

    New AMD Ryzen

If the reported Ryzen numbers are close to true, then power consumption will NOT be a factor any longer. AMD may have an advantage over Intel. Hardware acceleration - we need a Ryzen-based APU and appropriate hardware acceleration support for that to work. Neither are immediately available...

is the field of vision on 2.8mm lens and 3.6mm the same on 720p cameras?

"I contacted the seller and he replied me by saying FOV on 2.8mm is the same as 3.6mm on 720p camera." - that is a blatant lie. Focal length and field-of-view will depend on sensor size, not resolution. Other numbers don't mean anything. is your shot wide enough? If not, get the seller to fix...

    Share your BlueIris PC specs

Interestingly, I picked up an i7 4770 system to try with BI. Similar in almost every way to my i7 3770 computer. Both SFF Lenovo (Lenovo M92p and Lenovo M93p), similar chassis. My three drives and 16GB RAM were moved over - no change in software other than different drivers. The 4770 system...

    solar powered security cams

12v? That would be enough storage for at least a week with one camera, without being recharged during that time. If you only need the cameras powered certain times of day, you can save a lot of energy by shutting them off. Maybe an aggressive external sensor could get you more than enough...

    solar powered security cams

For one general IP camera, you will need around 100 Watt-Hours of energy for just the camera itself. You need to store at least 100Wh of energy each day for the one camera, and likely 150Wh to deal with inefficiencies and other variables. My cameras consume 2.4-3.9W each without infrared...

    Q's Cheap Camera Shootout

If you wanted to take on such a task, I'd be down with sending $50. Your positioning in the yard is good, without variables able to greatly skew your results. I can see the value in other scenes, such as larger properties with fences hundreds of feet away, streets, etc, but someone willing to...

    Q's Cheap Camera Shootout

I like how well Q's testing is done. I vote everyone donate to get him a few dozen different poe cameras of varying price ranges! It may seem simple from the outside, but testing things can quickly consume so much time. A basic "drop in bulb comparison" (especially "LED headlight bulbs") I did...

    Q's Cheap Camera Shootout

Yeah, boo to insufficient camera discussion. It's all okay, I'll order one of the Besafe cams in a couple days to play with ;). Seems like a winner for sure. Would be nice to get some direct comparisons to popular cheap Hik 3MP, Dahua 1MP and 3MP, Huisun 2MP, and 4K. I have these sitting on the...

    Q's Cheap Camera Shootout

Sounds about right ;) Yeah, I mess with lighting way more than a sane person should. I have another kilowatt of LEDs being delivered today. I think I'm approaching 50,000 LEDs, ranging from small 2835 strips to XHP70 emitters. Right now I'm focused on security system and holiday lighting builds...

    Q's Cheap Camera Shootout

Appears to be a strong street light backlighting the vehicle and yard, and a weak fill light possibly below the camera (driveway light(s)?). Unknown angled surfaces make the location difficult, but at least one lamp is nearby. The fog is very light, near the level of a slight drizzle rather than...

    Q's Cheap Camera Shootout

As it should. Any local light source with a wavelength less than the size of fog particles (all IR and visible) will make the image worse. With fog, it isn't so much the built-in IR that is the issue. Any light scatter between the camera and the subject will hurt visibility - you just need to...

    Q's Cheap Camera Shootout

Haven't seen that drastic a difference. Of course the scene on those is different so they can't be compared directly. I'm a believer of external IR though, if not motion detection lighting. Stronger light, fewer bugs attacking the camera. 1W of built-in IR is great in my enclosed garage, but...

    Motion Detection zone sensitivity

Tried it. Added two copies of the front door camera. Setup motion detection settings, disabled all video recording. Hid the two cloned cameras. 5% higher CPU usage. Select "show hidden cameras" and CPU usage doesn't change. Disabled the two cloned cameras. CPU usage drops back down 5%. I've...

    Home Automation, Lights and Locks.

I had a car broken into 10 years ago. they tore the passenger side lock out the side sheet metal with some bar (and I assume hammer), and tried to get into the empty trunk (and failed - the trunk isn't an easy one to get into). They got some "xenon flashlight" I had in the car and some cheap...

    Home Automation, Lights and Locks.

And for stronger doors + frames + deadbolts, windows are also very easy to break. I'm not concerned with security of a connected lock. Initial deterrents, security system trigger points, and followup alarm deterrents are plenty for most homes. Home invasions aren't typically like carefully...
