    Sunba Tech Cameras

Interesting post. I am not sure when mine will arrive, SUNBA is unable and China Post is unable to tell me if it shipped via SURFACE or AIR? SURFACE 6 weeks to 6 months, Air I should have it before the end of the month go figure. Specs from SUNBA on the camera are? I am curious if you were...

Did some research, this 22 gauge cat 5 I have is from Belden, got it years ago, and YES you have to have their RJ-45 ends for it. Too expensive to buy more. Looking for some 23 gauge stranded cable. Stranded works better with DC voltages for POE.

Blue Iris Tools - Weather Overlay, Watchdog & more!

Ok I am dumb, Where are you getting the weather data from? I have a personal weather station, I also post data to the WeatherUnderground

What I am really worried about, is that most CAT5 cable is 24AWG. That is pretty small to run more than 1.5 amps through for any length of time. It may take a surge now and then, but continuous is another matter. I know they make 22 AWG CAT5 cable, I have about 12' of it left on my spool...

    Can Blue Iris do this

MexSea Glad you said that, will order a POE splitter and give it a try. I had asked them about it and they said no. I think they may have meant the splitter was not included. If I mount my camera where I really want, it will end up 100-125 feet away too. I would hate to splice the power cable.

I considered the problem with returns and warranty, for the price and options was a risk worth taking.

    Sunba Tech Cameras

I have to ask them about the warranty. No POE due the current draw of the unit. I forget how much current is safe with POE. Have to admit POE would have been nice. MKKoskin.... I will let you know once it arrives and I get it up and running. I am still searching for software. I intend to...

MexSea, Did you have any problems with the included software, or did you use some other vendor? My camera is still on the way.

NVR/PC Do I have this correct

Yes I read about Frame rates and resolution= storage required. Just read another post from another site that leads me to believe a PC based system would be better. Easier to change the control software you are using. I am going to start with the software that comes with the camera. If I do...

NVR/PC Do I have this correct

Good points. Maybe I will just spend the money and do a few upgrades on a PC I have here right now. Not even sure what processor it has in it, but for stand alone operation and doing very little recording it should do fine. I still will put it all on its own router mainly I only have one open...

NVR/PC Do I have this correct

If I understand all that I have been reading. With a PC Only based system: I can control, record from my IP PTZ cam on my PC. Advantages: I already have a pc to use. Can easily burn video/pictures to a CD Disadvantages: I can not use the pc for much else. May put a strain on my home network...

    Can Blue Iris do this

I am kind of fortunate where I live here in Michigan the moon never goes directly overhead, is on a more south of me track, but not by much. It was one of those, when it is low in its track, would be nice to watch it for a few hours at a clip. Would get boring trying to watch it all the time...

    Can Blue Iris do this

It would be hard to hold the moon center frame with any accuracy, I could mount the camera on my telescope mount which has a controller built to track the moon. I was thinking more just track it an snap a shot every 5 minutes or so, if it is a bit off center so be it. I am not sure how many...

    Can Blue Iris do this

I sent an email to BI and they also said it may be possible, but a PIA to set up. Reason I want the camera to sleep is to save wear and tear. That is the one spec I never see posted about PTZ cameras is how long the PTZ drive will last. May have to get back into programming and write my own...

Hello From the Thumb of Michigan

I am using a Davis Vantage Pro2 with the solar and UV sensors. I use a wired version, get too cold here to mess with batteries. I run Cumulus software. Did not like the static (one area of the sky) most people have, and did not want to have multiple cameras. And yes I stumbled across your...

Hello From the Thumb of Michigan

Just purchased a 507-20XC PTZ camera that has not yet arrived. I am an amateur radio operator (HAM) and a weather enthusiast. I plan on using my camera more for sky conditions as opposed to security. I am hoping the included software will allow me to set 8 predefined areas, snap a shot at each...
