What high spec server would you choose for 50 cameras?

Like spending 12-15k USD for 50 Hikvision Cameras when you get the "same" for 2k USD from Reolink? ;) It is a configuration within the given budget and quite reasonable for a business setup with 50+ cameras. Of course, you can save on storage and buy cheaper disk without on-site support. You...

    SSD, nvme or mechanical?

The "WD Ultrastar DC SN630" has a U.2 interface, which will not work in your computer. This is a very good NMVE, but it needs over 5W even when idle and over 10W on high load. A nvme like Corsair Force MP510 with 2tb would be good enough for any NVR usage in your system. You´ll run out of CPU...

Bought 10 Reolink cams, then found they didn't used to play well with Blue Iris - have they improved enough?

the 4xx and 5xx Series Cameras work just fine with RTMP. So far RTSP is still unusable and most of this series is already EOL => this won´t be fixed in the future. The 8xx Series is brocken, at least with the firmware what was availible in march 2022. No matter what, they did not work stable...

Blue Iris on Proxmox Hardware Specs Questions

I have a similar setup, works just fine without a gpu and 12 cameras. There is 2-3 secondy delay in the telegram notification (aitool) compared with a gpu setup, thats good enough for my needs. My setup is only a i3 9300 and it handles all other vm´s in my home as well (smarthome, pihole, nas...

    Power/Cost Monitoring?

you can also monitor the power usage per camera if you have a good PoE switch. That also opens some options if you run any monitoring or smarthome software, e.g. to check if the IR LEDs are active by checking the power usage.

LIVE STREAM Dahua ip cams to cloud server without setting the port-forwarding and DDNS

Streaming to YT would be possible, but wastefull for ip cameras on an island. if you have any "local" server with a public ip on Fuerteventura, i would recommand a solution like mistserver.org on your camera with rtmp streaming support you simple configure a custom url like this...

    NVR Monitoring Software

PRTG, CheckMK, OMD-Labs,... can handle that, but blueiris does not provide an api like unifi protect, zoneminder or the bigger enterprise soltuions. But with some effort you can simple use regular expressions against the BI logfiles and get the basic informations out of it. Like how often it...

RTSP plus VLC - Creating a Windows 10 BAT file to run - Can it be done?

The problem is simple the "&" sign in your url. You can debug such things when you start vlc like "vlx.exe -vvv rtps:/your-url". This should work: "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" "rtsp:/admin:password@192.168.1.108/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0" --fullscreen --no-video-title-show...

    Blue Iris performance question

check the old setup in detail, i´m sure the avigilon cameras do the "heavy lifting" by themself. The in-camera motion detection was quite good and attached to the server software with their own proprietary protocol. Avigilon server had also support for nvidia pureview, we build many servers with...

Reolink E1 Pro PTZ doesn't work on Blue Iris (offical Response)

sorry, my fault - i mixed up the models. But the E1 Zoom work with just exact the same settings as the C1 Pro. The E1 "Zoom" also has substream support.

The C1 Pro has Substreams and i would recommend to use the default Settings provided by BI:

PoE switch *powered* by PoE — does such a thing exist?

The Ubnt USW-Flex can be powerd by PoE++ (60w) and supports 4 PoE+ devices => Switch Flex it can be powered by a PoE++ Switch or a Injector with 60-80W: https://store.ui.com/collections/unifi-network-switching/products/usw-pro-24-poe...

    Are Unify cameras good?

you can and should compare them. in the end you want a readable plate or good enough picture of faces and other body details. law enforcement or insurance company´s do NOT care about sensor size and MP, they only care about results. thats why we have a "darkroom" for our customers.
  23. S

    Are Unify cameras good?

The cheapest poe camera from ubnt (g3-flex with 1080p), provides a better image at night than a dahua 2431T-AS-S2 (4k) what can buy for comparable costs from andy. In daytime dahua is better, simple because of the higher resolution and quite nice picture for a 1/3 sensor.
  24. S

    Are Unify cameras good?

unifi video is the predecessor of unifi protect. this is about remote access to your nvr via unifi cloud with a 7 years old nvr setup.
  25. S

    Are Unify cameras good?

simple fact, they don´t target anybody who really understand or care about these facts. they provide some facts about the lenes, and for the old g3 series they even provided the sensor vendors (Sony IMX290,..). what the offer is a simple to use package with all needed hardware from one...

    Are Unify cameras good?

motion detection etc runs on the camera, but ONLY if it is logged on to a controller (protect nvr).
  27. S

    Are Unify cameras good?

the bigger cameras came with a bit high price tag, but from my perspective it´s still ok. combined with the 4bay nvr, you would get a simple setup for up to 50 cameras, central configuration and firmware management like you have with your accesspoints. they have the best mobile app on the...

Reolink RLC-810A Cameras - Lots of Problems with Blue Iris

i have quite similar experience, but the issue with ceap cameras is mainly a "reolink" issue. so far i have some customers with other even more creepy venders, but they have only "bad" video quility an run stable with blueiris. you have some simple options: 1. Use a old blue iris version like...

Is Shinobi considered as an NVR software?

there is no magic solution, everyone has to work with the same resources. but basically the performance is good, the developer of shinobi more or less dealt with gpu/cpu acceleration from the beginning. same for different "ai" solutions, where he gives sometimes insights on social media.
