    Dahua 2MP Starlight Lineup

Thanks to this thread and the in depth camera discussions and reviews I've just ordered 2 x Z5's and 2 x Z12's from Andy. (He's been so helpful and efficient.) I bought these 4 cameras to cover my perimeter as per the diagram and distances that I mentioned in this thread here... There may be...

new BI setup - camera advise

Hmmmm... So maybe with the negligible price difference it would make more. Sense to get 4 z12s?

new BI setup - camera advise

Perfect. Thanks so much. Judging by the image you posted above I'll be more fine with 2 x z5s and 2 x z12s. The z12s could be overkill but as this is just phase 1 of my project I will soon find out id they are not better suited in other areas. I guess that's part of the fun of a diy setup...

new BI setup - camera advise

Thanks bp2008 for your response. You've just sent me off on a thermal camera research mission. lol. I never realized that thermal was even an option price wise. - I may get one one like yourself just to play with. We are pretty hot here most times of the year so I wonder how effective it would...

Old bnc cameras and ip cameras together?

Awesome. Ok so I will probably end up with at least 2 switches in the end as I will drive around half the cameras from 1 side of the house and the other half from the opposite side of the house with BI somewhere in between. So how would the network look then? I assumed i'd HAVE to have both...

Old bnc cameras and ip cameras together?

Hi fenderman, Do I understand you correctly. Can I stream the analogue from the DVR to BI as well as run other digital POE cameras to my network? Something like follows: Thanks again for your time. r.

new BI setup - camera advise

Hi All. I'm just about ready to start my move over to BI and digital cameras. I intend to do it in 2 stages. The first stage is to bolster where I currently have very little camera coverage - Property perimeter, which is the most important for crime in our area. I currently have 8 analog...

Bargain then! Not many developers out there charge once off anymore. (which is fair enough)

Old bnc cameras and ip cameras together?

.... So I followed this link and also saw mention of the CAMSWITCH plus. Does this device do what I think it does? Allows me to connect 4 cameras to it whilst only running 1 Ethernet cable back to my "main" switch?

Old bnc cameras and ip cameras together?

Thanks fenderman. Very useful information. Still so much to learn! I think part of my reasoning to swap over to poe is that the current installation is very untidy. There is badly installed trunking/conduits stuck to walls and sides of the house in various places. So I was thinking of rewiring...

Old bnc cameras and ip cameras together?

I was worried that this would be the case. I think then as you suggest I will replace the old system over time then and run them in parallel as I grow the BI system. In terms of cable runs. I saw that you can run poe around 100m or 300ft without injectors. Is this the maximum? Or at what...

Old bnc cameras and ip cameras together?

Hi all. First off.... This is a fantastic forum. I've already learned so much from lurking the past 2 weeks or so. I've decided that I want to use BI mainly because of the motion sensor and zone configuration options. Also the continuous development and improvements that go into the software...
