Wireless devices not working over vpn?

LAN address (private IP)...all other cameras are working that are hardwired. The only cams that will not work over VPN are the wireless. The wireless cams work fine while at home and connected to LAN via wifi.

Wireless devices not working over vpn?

As the title states I have a few wireless ip cams I configured a few weeks ago and they work well on LAN but no go while connected over openvpn? Any ideas? Btw, I have hardwired ip cams and samba shares I am able to access just fine on openvpn just the wireless devices are giving me trouble...

Dahua NVR / gDMSS app ?

Bumping this thread once again due to me just getting a chance to go over to my buddy's house and attempt to further troubleshoot the no sound issue from the gdmss app. I went into the NVR and found the option for both main stream and substream and both options had audio selected. I figured...

Dahua NVR / gDMSS app ?

Thanks for your response....2 quick ?'s 1. I believe I know where to look within the camera itself to enable / disable sound per stream but did not see anything within the NVR itself? Any ideas where exactly that would be in the NVR? 2. How do you know if your pulling mainstream vs substream...

Yes, I have toggled the sound button via the app...sorry I should have stated that in my opening post as well.

Dahua NVR / gDMSS app ?

Hey all just a quick ?...I helped a buddy set up a dahua nvr system with multiple cams and everything is working great except for one thing...sound is not coming through via the gDMSS app. The sound is working on the nvr because we have it hooked up to a tv display (via hdmi output on the back...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

Just an FYI, if you block all internet access under the "network map" for Asus routers it will block incoming connection from VPN as well...been there done that! So basically that is a no go if you plan on VPN'g back to see your cams.

    Need Feedback/Opinions on IPC-HDW4431C-A

@zero-degrees - I just put one of these up in my garage and overall I am happy with the image as I feel it compares to my current 4mp Hik turrets. My only complaint / concern would be this is the cam that was trying to "outbound" to a china IP until I put a non descriptive DNS address within...

    Dahua Backdoor Uncovered

I just wanted to post back and say since I changed one cams dns settings to point to a non-existent address (1.0.0.1) it is not communicating with the China ip any longer. Instead in the logs it just lists the cam's ip address and then the destination address of that non-existent ip I changed...

    Dahua Backdoor Uncovered

Yep, understand what your saying...although I fully understand that a VPN connection is a must and not to forward ports, use upnp, cloud crap, or anything else. What I am getting at is that even with all this done (VPN setup etc) that only blocks incoming connections to your cams not outgoing...

    Dahua Backdoor Uncovered

And I think you are "underestimating" this too much! I do not want my IP cams to be network devices across the net to distribute malware to me or anyone else or to have some peeping in on my cams!

    Dahua Backdoor Uncovered

I still would go down the line starting with my router and turn off UPnP, port forwards, etc. Then go to each camera and turn off all that stuff individually to (including any cloud service stuff P2P, etc). That way you use a VPN whenever you want to connect to your cams or BI. Most modern...

Probably good practice to change all passwords every so often anyway. Whether or not people actually do that is another subject...hell you have people that don't even change default passwords on wireless routers when they first install them.

    Dahua Backdoor Uncovered

Just because you can't reach your cams from out to in doesn't mean the cams can't contact Vietnam and different places from in to out if you know what I mean. In my case I had a cam that seemed to making an outbound connection to a Chinese IP as you can see from an earlier post. Best course of...

    Dahua Backdoor Uncovered

Yeah the one camera that I posted that was reaching out to google dns I logged into last night and removed the all dns settings...even though the settings were not set to google dns...go figure (they were set to my local ISP's dns Comcast). Anyway, I removed the settings so now hopefully that...

    Dahua Backdoor Uncovered

Well just for giggles I figured I would go home and log onto my router and see if I could find any outbound connections so I viewed my "active connections" log under my WAN section and cam across two of my IP addressed cameras connecting to various outside addresses....not sure what this is all...

    Dahua Backdoor Uncovered

I have an Asus router as well so I will take a look at that other discussion link that you posted. Also another question for anyone that might know....is there a specific clear cut way that you can figure out if it's even possible for your current cam to communicate outside your network? Is...

    Dahua Backdoor Uncovered

No, in my particular case I don't run an NVR...I just have the cameras recording to BI on a Windows pc. I will log into my "consumer grade" router tonight and see if in the FW section it allows you to block certain IP's from communicating to the outside world. If so, then I will just have to...

@nayr and @hmjgriffon.... Just so everyone is clear regarding VPN....if you have a VPN set up on your router and no ports forwarded and nothing in the individual camera settings (like UPnP, P2P, whatever that company wants to use) are you pretty much safe from the camera being able to...

    Dahua IPC-HDW4431C-A mounting ?

@zero-degrees ....lol...don't worry that camera is not my "primary" garage camera...I have my primary camera diagonal to this one. This camera was basically a chance for me to one try a "cheapie" dahua cam for fun and two just to keep an eye on my "kegerator" in the corner of the garage:)

    Dahua IPC-HDW4431C-A mounting ?

Just wanted to post a pic of the cam since it was installed in the garage..... Also wanted to inquire for those familiar with the camera under what settings area would be p2p or easy4ip be listed as I do not see anything like that? I just wanted to be sure since these are cams from china there...

    Dahua IPC-HDW4431C-A mounting ?

Thanks for the input...I am familiar with reading about the starlight cams on here and understand how they are all the rage right now (with good reason I might add). But for me I couldn't justify $170 bucks for multiple locations at this point in time compared to $64. I can almost buy 3 for...

    Dahua IPC-HDW4431C-A mounting ?

Sorry for the delayed response....I have to admit...after reading this it kind of has me concerned? I will log into the camera menu to ensure I see an option for "cloud" or "p2p" and make sure it is turned off. Although not sure how else to tell if there is a back door set up for someone in...

    What's wrong with this cam?

Thanks fenderman for the help. I tried switching from day / night via the Web interface and also tapped / smack the cam physically to no avail. I contacted the seller to report the issue. Hopefully they will repair / replace.
