IP PTZ Camera No longer powering up

Wow, those connectors are really small to be carrying 5 amps at 12v. You can see the PCB markings showing that it burned on the power side. You may need to do a bit of DIY engineering to make it reliable.

Looking for a knowledgeable paid consultant for setting up a Blue Iris system

That’s hilarious, been there for sure. On a bright note I got my dual NIC card today and it worked great. Looks like I have room for a second one too if I ever need it. The low profile bracket was a lifesaver, wouldn’t have worked without it. New hard drive delivery date for this Thursday...

Looking for a knowledgeable paid consultant for setting up a Blue Iris system

Received my hard drive from Amazon and the vendor figured I wouldn’t notice if they sent me a 4TB hard drive after charging me for an 18TB one. Needless to say this thing is going back and I ordered one from another place for less money too. Still waiting for my dual NIC card too. Those are the...

Ok perfect, so static switch IPs and static camera IPs as well. Just finished running the wiring for the granny suite and need to finish mounting all the cameras on that side of the house.

Looking for a knowledgeable paid consultant for setting up a Blue Iris system

I’m in the process of wiring everything up and I should have my granny suite all finished today as well. Mike is going to help me with the setup on BI and all the cameras but he wants me to have the networking done on the Edgeswitches and the Lenovo (BI server). I know there is a wiki on this...

Considering my setup and the number of cameras it looks like this one would likely fit the bill nicely.......got it on order now too. WD Purple Pro WD181PURP 18TB 7200 RPM 512MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Right with you. I use Samsung EVO SSDs exclusively (currently just...

Looking for a knowledgeable paid consultant for setting up a Blue Iris system

That's exactly how I set up the machine software-wise so sounds like I'm all set there. Do you recommend a certain size spinner HD (ie how many TB would I need) given there might be 14 or so cameras recording to it? Also is either brand better than the other?

Looking for a knowledgeable paid consultant for setting up a Blue Iris system

Quick question for my setup. Should I be upgrading my hard drive in the Lenovo? It currently has just a regular 3TB drive for data storage and the OS is on an SSD for fast booting. The max cameras I could have with those switches would be 14 so given that scenario let me know what you guys...

Looking for a knowledgeable paid consultant for setting up a Blue Iris system

This is great, thanks for the recommendation Tony. Got the NIC card and 4 more 5442 cameras on order. Should have everything by this Monday. Just working on running the Cat6 to all the locations I need for mounting the cameras (the doorbells seem to be the least fun).

Looking for a knowledgeable paid consultant for setting up a Blue Iris system

The only part I can't really change is to bring all the cams to a single switch. Our house has an attached granny suite and the roof lines aren't really connected so that basically makes it a necessity to have the two separate switches to accomodate all the cameras. Other than that I can...

Looking for a knowledgeable paid consultant for setting up a Blue Iris system

My plan was to add a dual NIC card or two single NIC cards to the Lenovo so that I can use the NIC ports for the 2 switches then use the on board ethernet port to route traffic back to the internet. Not sure if this is the best way to do it or not, but definitely open to suggestions.

Here's a schematic of what I'm looking to do, would folks be able to suggest if this looks like the best way to set this up give the equipment that I have now? I just want to make sure I have all the hardware I need installed before I bring in the consultant remotely to install everything...

Looking for a knowledgeable paid consultant for setting up a Blue Iris system

Do you know if there is someone in charge of these (email, text, etc) that I could talk or chat with to find out? It would be nice to know that beforehand so I can get it up and running as fast as possible. Happy to tweak things with hardware or software later but I definitely need at least...

Looking for a knowledgeable paid consultant for setting up a Blue Iris system

This is awesome! So do I need a separate person to handle the networking setup on the Edgeswitches or is this something that the BI tech support can also handle at the same time they are setting up all the cameras? I assume they can also help me with the VPN and getting push notifications on...

Looking for a knowledgeable paid consultant for setting up a Blue Iris system

It's been a little while since I last posted. Short story is that I've been wanting to set up my camera system for a while but was taking my time to figure everything out since I thought it would be a fun project for someone who's decently tech savvy. Well needless to say lots of other...

Need help with cam selection, layout and system build

Ok looks like I have some work to do on the layout (thanks again everyone for the input). My thought was originally to cover as much area as possible but it sounds like I really need to just cover the entrance points alot more carefully. We live out in the country so the best security is...

Need help with cam selection, layout and system build

I've attached the property layout and proposed locations for cameras but I need help with selection of specific cameras that would work best in my situation. You can see the rear is heavily wooded and it's rough going to approach from there (still possible via snowmobile). The blue dots...

Blue Iris Gradually Goes to 100% CPU Usage

X2 It’s always important to create the proper VLANs / network rules to isolate your cameras so they never have access to the internet. That way any cameras vulnerabilities are then rendered useless.

VPN Suggestions - Unifi USG & Switch?

As long as you have a lower speed internet connection and basic firewall rules then the USG is fine but if you get above 300mps then start looking at the higher end Edgerouter gateway setups (works fine with unifi APs) or a PFsense box.

    PoE Switch Options

If you go with the Ubiquiti 8-port version I prefer the Edgeswitch8-150w (vs 60w version) which runs POE+ to all 8 ports and has gigabit capability. That’s the switch I run and it’s very easy to do VLANs to sandbox everything off if you add an Edgerouter on the front end.

How do I choose a PoE switch for residential video security?

Smart move on the Edgeswitch, you’ll be alot happier with that setup, definitely rock solid and lots of ability to upgrade if you want to grow the network.

How much watts does a R-ZE need?

The ER-X is a pass through POE device only, to power a camera you’d need either a POE injector or a POE switch like the Edgeswitch8-60w.
