Can you change the NVR Channel No. assignment?

Once a camera has been added to the NVR, it seems to be assigned the next Channel No. in order. Can you edit these? Can I move a camera to an unused channel in an effort to reorder them logically?

Video Adjustment > Screen mode> Indoor vs Outdoor?

Hi, Can someone shed some light on what these settings do or what they change? I did some searching but found little information about them. The cameras seem to default to outdoor. I assume make it the right setting for where the camera is? :-).

Hi, I have a varifocal 2.8-12 that I have zoomed in. Is there anyway to see what focal length I am zoomed into? I have checked the camera page but cannot seem to find it. Thanks in advance.

IPCT 8 MP(4K) Starlight IR Fixed Bullet, Camera Powered by Night Eye

I know they are vastly different form factors, but I would love to see a mini shootout between this camera and the 2 MP Starlight IR Fixed Turret. I assume the 2MP would have better low light and night performance but I wonder by how much. In daytime the 8mp should outperform it all the way...

    Hik-Connect and UPnP

Yes - that is pretty much it. Here is a summary. Once setup correctly, your Hik device (cam or NVR) and the Hik-Connect web service have a direct communication path (tunnel) without the need of a port-forward. This path is only created after you have a web account with your credentials and...

    Hik-Connect and UPnP

So here is my take... The Hik-Connect service creates an encrypted TLS tunnel between the NVR or device inside your network and the Hik-Connect web portal. You do this when you use your serial number and create an activation key inside the NVR. You supply that key to the Hik-Connect service...

Hik-Connect, trying to understand the security aspect (or lack there of).... and use of it VS iVMS

So this is becoming somewhat more clear, based on some new information I found on the interwebs.... therefore it must be true. "However, if you want to use a browser on a PC/laptop/Mac when away from your system, then you cannot unfortunately do so via Hik-Connect. You will need to configure...

Hik-Connect, trying to understand the security aspect (or lack there of).... and use of it VS iVMS

Hi, I have been looking into Hik-Connect and other remote access options. Hik-Connect has been billed as a "more secure" method to access devices. Perhaps I am getting the "more secure" impression from Hik's marketing and I am simply brainwashed. Either way, I am wondering if this is simply not...

Hik NVR - ignore built in PoE?

Hi - I am looking at a 16 ch Hik NVR with built in PoE. I do not want to use the built in PoE switch. Other than cost/power consumption, is there any other downside, i.e. will it function the same as a the model NVR without the switch? I am having a hard time sourcing version I want without...

iVMS-4500 an Android - live view portrait only?

Hi, When in live view using iVMS-4500 viewing a single cam in the portrait everything is good. When I switch the phone to landscape mode, the phone auto rotates but I loose the image. Is this normal or do I have setup wrong? Should I use a different app? Thanks.

Storage Management / Quota / sizes not changing?

Ok - I will give that a shot and report back. Should changing the picture/record % change these numbers on the fly?

    Raspbery Pi2 Camera Monitor w/Rpisurv

User feedback sought - I am using Hikvision cams and using H265 for recording the main stream to SD card. I am going to use the secondary stream h264 (640 x 480) for the Rpisurv display. On a 32-47" TV do you think a 4 x 4 grid will look good enough? Do most people use the main or sub...

Storage Management / Quota / sizes not changing?

Hi - I have a 64 GB card that I am not sure is working correctly or it is user error... I assumed that when you changed the percentages for picture and record the max/free sections above would change automatically based on these settings. On this camera - the picture files size got set to 14...

Hi, I have done some research and found some options for this including IVPM Camera Calculator, JVSG IP Video System Design Tool, and the various VideoCAD products like VideoCAD Lite. I am probably missing some others. Background and what I am looking for: I was in the industry when analog...

Thanks for your help Paul. The frame rate is 15 currently. I have the mem set at 128 so I think that is good. The problem is in the config file somewhere as it never gets to show an image fuzzy or not :-) I don't seem to have a problem with VLC or omx on the player.

Hi, The main stream is unwatchable... it really a picture just digital noise. I can't make it out. It seems there are many different commands for these cameras - I wonder if I using the wrong one? I see some that specify h264 and av_stream... etc. I have tied a couple different versions...
