    Ubiquiti question or general wifi

Depending on your soil, you could also use one of these in a drill: http://www.lowes.com/pd_607332-89403-79002_1z0wgdt__ Worked for me if you take a little at a time, come in from both sides, and let the auger do the work.

    Use Laptop Cam On BI?

I did the local laptop cam with Blue Iris running on the local laptop when I was first investigating BI. But now that you mention it... I think I'm going to add a simple USB webcam to my server in the studio now that I've committed to it... not a bad idea.

Panarama of the valley I live in with the HUISUN V2 PTZ

Very nice. I like how the PTX overlay changes color based on contrast of background. Makes me want to get up on the roof and mount my Imporx tomorrow.

    Tp-link

So just for the heck of it... and because this thread peaked my interest... I did an experiment last night. I have a simple Sensor, that talks to a Receiver using RF (with very little range) then the Receiver connects to my Network using only a wired connection. I bought this to remotely keep...

    Tp-link

Along RBW's comments... They all say they will not work if plugged into a power-strip (what I assume RBW is referring to as power points), or if plugged into a surge suppressor or UPS unit, because those have circuitry that interferes with the Data Signals. All of mine (3) are plugged directly...

    I wouldn't even try that.

    Tp-link

Different brands have different issues. When you say different circuits... and you mean different circuit breakers, that should not be a problem. If though, you have circuits coming from two different sub-panels... I'm lead to believe that may not work. The three I have hooked up (one at the...

    Tp-link

I have two of my cameras linked up using Netgear Powerline Adapters similar to those in your link. I'm not having any real problems with them. Certainly fewer problems than when I tried to use WiFi.

    What hard drive to choose?

No sarcasm intended... Bad choice of word on my part. For the record, "cent" meaning "hundred" has its roots in Latin, well before it became a measure of money in "Britian" [sic] or the U.S. (Ok... that was a snark) :)

anyone have a membership to ipvm

I have to say... I began getting frustrated when every page/link I clicked on asked first for my email address, over and over... even for the "Free" information. Ultimately, I lost interest when I was told this: Just some feedback.

    What hard drive to choose?

I'm running a single 3TB WD Purple for my Blue Iris Storage, and twelve 3TB WD Reds for my Plex Media Storage. Like nyar, I left Seagate long ago. Just my $.02. (not sure how that calculates in £) :)

Found it. Not sure if it applies to my camera, but I'll try it when I get it hooked back up. How to unlock extra Tilt on your PTZ Speed Dome:

Need your help guys... (Simple Viewer)

I've skimmed through that thread before, perhaps I'll take another closer look at it. Thanx. Here is a screen capture of what I want to do... this is using something I found this afternoon called IP Camera Viewer. It's a simpler program than Blue Iris, but I have to open that program, load...

Need your help guys... (Simple Viewer)

I've just discovered that I can "Open in a Desktop Frame" any camera within BI... And... There is a setting to keep that window on top. It's a nice simple frame-less window, and it passes at least one-way audio (BI doesn't seem to want to do two-way audio to my Amcrest cameras - but it does...

Need your help guys... (Simple Viewer)

I know you guys can help me with this... I need a simple way to view one camera out of my 8 that are managed by Blue Iris. My wife is not doing well, and I now have a camera in our room that allows me to keep an eye on her when I am running around the house, out in the studio, or otherwise not...

    Anyone solve palm tree shadows?

(Just kidding - I have a similar problem in my front yard with some willow trees that blow/sway and trigger constantly)

This camera just looks like fun...

I'd swear I stumbled across a thread/post/article somewhere that there was a way (on some cameras) to override the factory default and set it to -10, but now of course I can't find it anywhere. It appears that when the camera is at its highest upward view, there is still some room for slight...

This camera just looks like fun...

That's cool. Now if I could just find one about thirty feet tall and could lean over about 8-10 feet, that would be perfect. I've thought about just renting a man-lift for a week or so and going ahead and painting the upper portions of the house while I had it... but then I fixed myself another...

Just a few weeks ago I was installing two new high-tech garage door openers... I was standing with one foot on a small folding table and one foot on my sturdy, new, 6' fiberglass ladder, holding the opener overhead with my left hand, and a power screwdriver with a screw wobbling in the barely...

This camera just looks like fun...

Sort of... Camera is now mounted on corner bracket and painted to match the house... albeit the house has faded a bit from this new paint. Split off the Cat5 cable behind the TV upstairs and mounted a 4-port switch where this camera will attach to the network. Got a junction box with PoE...

Software just to VIEW my cameras?

When you say "just open them up in a browser" are you referring to accessing the cameras software directly by using its IP address? Or do you mean that you would not like to use a browser at all? I use Blue Iris Remote View in my browser from my office to see my cameras at home. No second...

Sorry I didn't get the camera mounted this weekend and have some clips to share. Had to take my wife to the hospital and that kind of... well... trumped my plans. Hope to spend some time some evening this week on it, since there is possible rain in the forecast for Sat/Sun.

    What Software Is This?

The notes indicate, "Cisco Packet Tracer" Did a google search on it and came up with: http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/netacad/course_catalog/PacketTracer.html It does look interesting. More to learn now... Thanx. Jim

How to control & monitor garage door with PC

I just installed two new Chamberlain openers with their proprietary My-Q interface. (One had the WiFi and the other linked to it, but I control them independent). It actually works very well. I also added a My-Q controlled light switch to the outdoor lights and tied it to the opener, so they...

My Huisun PTZ V2 10x arrived - need advice
