    Audio Alerts from smoke detectors?

The nest is cool and I love the idea of the smart features, but it's not a dual-sensor detector. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2014/02/consumer-reports-review-of-nest-protect-smoke-and-co-alarm/index.htm this is good info also: "Smoldering fires, says Walker, account for only about...

    Audio Alerts from smoke detectors?

Same here, and I'd like it for low battery detection in all of my alarms if they weren't $35/ea. In my house, I chase the low battery beeps for a half hr until I find the right one that's doing the chirping. The sound is a terrible choice, hard to locate - such a high frequency that it just...

    Audio Alerts from smoke detectors?

I saw this the other day: http://www.getroost.com It's a "smart" smoke detector battery. Alerts on low battery and alarm. $35 Pretty expensive but if I had only one or two smoke detectors, I might try it out myself. Come to think of it, we have a connected smoke alarm system (one goes off they...

    CPU spikes, whole machine unresponsive

I don't like the thought of using a browser to view my cameras but UI2 is really nice as well as the allcams.htm page which resembles the java viewer more (just lesser quality but I guess that's why not much CPU usage). Thanks for the suggestions and all of the help here. Really do appreciate it.

    500 ft POE run

Laughed out loud at this. I hate wireless, but this would actually be a fun thing to try. At a friend's house. Maybe a friend that knows what he's doing so I wouldn't be getting calls to troubleshoot the 1,000 ways it would probably break if I were involved.

    CPU spikes, whole machine unresponsive

Duhh moment. Noticed something that greatly effects the CPU usage (though can't pin it down to this every time I see a lockup). On my BI server, CPU usage is at 40% when operating normally. Connecting to BI on my LAN using BI Viewer 2.5.2, quality set to High Efficiency, never using Instant...

    CPU spikes, whole machine unresponsive

Wanted to post an update. CPU started spiking again and locking up like crazy. Tried running BI on the SSD while storing Alerts, New, and Stored on the WD Red drive but no help. Wiped the computer clean again, did a clean Win10 install as fenderman suggested. Been running well for 14 hrs so...

    why why why

A foscam was my first wired camera. It was outdoors but under a roof - no rain, direct sun. It died in 4 months and I threw it right in the trash. Replaced it with a small hikvision bullet. Picture was way better and going strong for over a year. Dug up this picture. Of course foscams are...

Ahh, yes. That would be awesome. Hopefully Apple will allow 3rd party apps to control the screensaver, too.

2 - LTD8316T-FT16's with "Connection Failed" errors on NVMS7000 mobile

These are Hik rebranded DVRs. I'm having trouble getting the app on Android to work at all. Logging in from iOS with exact same settings works, though I had to stop using their "cloud" connection after that decided to fail last week for no apparent reason. Now I manually connect to the NVR using...

My Hikvision Cameras Capture Break in Vehicle and Attempt to Enter Home

If someone steps on my porch, Blue Iris sends a "doorbell" sound to my phone w/ a push alert. Dialed in motion detection, masked off areas that triggered false alarms. I get the alert within seconds of someone entering the frame. That's been working so well that last night I set it to text me a...

    Win10 Pro + Remote Desktop + BI4 issue

Abula, have you heard of the Blue Iris Viewer? It was made by bp2008, a guy here on this forum: https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php?93-I-made-a-better-remote-live-view-page I personally prefer that to viewing everything over RDP. I use the JAVA version over LAN and it's solid. When I want...

    CPU spikes, whole machine unresponsive

Thanks a lot. I will definitely do that if symptoms show up again. I wish I would have done that from the start, but things are going well. BI has been running for 21 hrs since PC reset, consistently at 30-40% CPU (usually when I check it's at 34% which is amazing) and using half the RAM (down...

    CPU spikes, whole machine unresponsive

Had a couple of crashes yesterday - same thing as before (BI using 100% CPU, PC frozen). Didn't investigate event viewer errors - got fed up and chose to "Reset this PC". At this point, I have a relatively clean Windows install, and clean BI install (entered all settings from scratch rather than...

    CPU spikes, whole machine unresponsive

I suspected drive problems, too, but I ran diagnostics using each manufacturer's software and all checked out good. I do wonder if my setup would be better with OS on an SSD and everything (including New and Storage folders) on a WD Purple drive. When those Intel 750 series SSDs are affordable...

iVMS (hikvision NVR iOS app) can you view alerts?

I'm using a branded app which is the same as iVMS 4500 lite. It's called NVMS7000. I've logged on to the NVR from both and only see the solid blue timeline. Seems that's just the way it is. I'm just hoping they will eventually improve this with a firmware/software update.

    CPU spikes, whole machine unresponsive

Oh, an odd thing I noticed regarding the RAM.. With 8GB of RAM, I had noticed 80% Memory usage at some points (which seems quite high for dedicated BI server). Now with 16GB of ram, I now see it going as high as 55% Memory usage. It's as if Windows was hungry for more RAM and that was causing it...

    CPU spikes, whole machine unresponsive

Yes, this was an upgrade from Win 8.1 and this is 64 bit windows and BI. Haha, he definitely is a wizard. Since I ran the memory diagnostics tool earlier this week, I'll wait and see if this C++ does the trick before I pull out the old RAM. Thanks to both of you for giving me some ideas...

    CPU spikes, whole machine unresponsive

Been trying to diagnose this for a while as I hate taking up Ken's time if a problem is something I can fix. Every other day or so, I'll find my headless, dedicated BI PC unresponsive and see BI is using 95-100% CPU. Normal is anywhere from 30-50%. i7-4770K 16GB DDR3 RAM Asus Sabertooth Z87...

iVMS (hikvision NVR iOS app) can you view alerts?

Thanks for the reply, RBW. That stinks. Just about everyone needs to interface with these systems via mobile from time to time and looking at motion alerts seems like a super-basic requirement for most. Scratching my head.. One guy (Ken, Blue Iris) can develop a mobile app that absolutely...

iVMS (hikvision NVR iOS app) can you view alerts?

Anyone with a Hikvision NVR using iVMS mobile app, I'm really curious as to how to view alerts vs. just the continuous footage or if that's even possible. MAN, this NVR makes me really appreciate Blue Iris, but it will hopefully achieve what I need it to where this is installed. With BI's...

Good source to buy IP items at

He replied to couple of questions I had in a PM a couple of days ago and was very helpful. Now I'm patiently waiting on him to answer a new PM. I'm sure he's playing catch up for a while after vacation. Edit: I ended up hearing back from him. Edit #2: Got an order placed at a very fair price...

    new install for business

Not sure what type of feedback you're looking for, but it looks good! Two thoughts: 1. Pic #1, the PVC doesn't look quite plumb (using mortar joints as a reference) so maybe watch out there. 2. I'd get some matching spray paint and carefully paint that PVC (slide something thin/flat behind...

    Marina theif apprehended

fenderman now you're starting to show your age. :) I had a "get off my lawn" moment when I caught a kid pissing on my house (party next door), but he said sorry like 5 times and I never had a problem again. Out of order alerts on IOS app

Right, so lets say it's Midnight now. My garage got triggered last at 3PM so that alert still sits near the top of the alerts list because it's the most recent from that camera, and then so on with each other camera. It's a bit jarring when you're used to the way it's been up until now. I'm sure...

Out of order alerts on IOS app

This whole time I thought I was having a problem with my alerts but I emailed Ken about out of order alerts on the app and it's actually a new feature. He said: "The current design puts the most recent alert from each camera at the top for easy access. I will be looking at how to better...
