How to understand the magic of bitrate

I think you have a slight misunderstanding of how these work. The frame rate does not have an effect on storage consumption as your implying. Your bit rate is what determines storage consumption. 10-15 FPS isn’t suggested as “good enough” it’s actually better! When you change your FPS, your just...

Checking IP camera if it's in good condition.

If the IP address is static, then there won’t be any effect from rebooting them. You should reboot both NVR’s. That will also reboot the cameras if they are powered by the NVR (most likely)

Checking IP camera if it's in good condition.

Have you tried cutting power to reboot them?

Hik connecting DS-KB6003-WIP Wifi Door Cam to 7616NI-E2

What are the chances your sitting at your Mac when you get a visitor anyways? Maybe connect the camera to the platform access, and use the hik-connect app on your phone

You can also use an Apple TV to stream the NVR over the network

    Captured Frame Rates

OP, what is the purpose of the cameras? If they are simply meant for “monitoring” then I would agree to the higher frame rate. However, if they are meant for “security” then you will want a lower frame rate. For security reasons, a higher frame rate won’t gain you anything. A lower frame rate...

NVR / Hikvision 7616 and shutting it down before UPS loses battery power

Power loss is a normal thing. I assume it’s designed to handle that. Also, there’s no need to “power up” it is designed to automatically boot up and record when power is applied

Yes, it needs to be selected. You could also try Hik-Connect

    IVMS-4500 Connection Failed

If you had it working before, it sounds like you know what your doing. You must be missing something. Check all your settings again, make sure your not forwarding that same port to anything else. Check spelling closely on your ddns entry on the app. Be sure your entering the external port number...

    Jerky recorded footage

A quality NVR isn’t that expensive. I can get a Hikvision 4 channel, POE, and supports up to 12MP camera for $139 and the HDMI outputs 4K!

    Jerky recorded footage

The Blue drive is a “desk top” rated drive. It is not designed to spin 24/7, and be constantly writing. There is a good chance of a failure. It would be a bummer to need footage, only to discover the drive has failed. The Purple drive is designed to spin 24/7, and favors throughput. That Blue...

    Jerky recorded footage

It seems to be rig it’s self, not the settings. I’ve noticed a trend of people having more issues when trying to use a PC. An NVR is a purpose built machine, dedicated to doing what you want to do. Also, no one has mentioned your hard drive yet. Again, there are purpose built hard drives...

No motion event markers in Hikvision mobile apps ?

Yes that’s new... but I don’t have anything on that page. I record continuously, with dynamic motion enabled. I get the motion markers in the web interface playback, and on iVMS-4200 Playback, but I was expecting to see the same thing on the app. I got nothin!

No motion event markers in Hikvision mobile apps ?

Hik-connect app updated today to V4.0. It says it supports event playback now. It doesn’t seem to work for me... I was hoping to simply get lines in the playback, but the event section of the app is blank. Has anyone else played with it yet?

    Mouse Problem

I was going to ask the same thing. Have you tried a different mouse? I have found that the ones that come with the NVR are really crappy and don’t work half the time

hikvision NVR and Hikvision IP camera - smart events

Where did you find that firmware? I’ve looked around on the few portals I’m aware of, and can’t find it. I’m looking for a 7616ni/k2 I’m sure it’s the same file as yours

    Installation question about resolution

I have my NVR maxed out on bitrate... maxing out that aspect will only affect the bitrate setting. Not the resolution like the OP is struggling with

Hik connecting DS-KB6003-WIP Wifi Door Cam to 7616NI-E2

Use either the hik-connect app, or iVMS-4500 app to determine what IP address the doorbell cam has. Then, log into the NVR and add another camera using that IP address

Hik connecting DS-KB6003-WIP Wifi Door Cam to 7616NI-E2

Same here. IP reservation works on my ASUS router, but does not work on a customers netgear router. I still don’t understand why the IP address changes every 24 hours... maybe it’s meant as a security measure

Hik connecting DS-KB6003-WIP Wifi Door Cam to 7616NI-E2
