    Another CPU usage reduction trick

Resource Monitor and BI are in agreement that usage is now 63%, down from 79%.

    Another CPU usage reduction trick

I set each indoor dome to 15fps (down from 20fps) and restarted each cam. I then went into each cam setting in BI and made sure the framerate was at 15 or higher. I picked 15 because it's about the lowest you can go before noticing stutters and such. It seems 27 cams dropped 5fps each equals...

    Another CPU usage reduction trick

I'll see what the lowest framerate I can set that still gives the quality expected. I'll then take that rate and apply it to all 27 internal cams and see what it does to reduce usage.

    Another CPU usage reduction trick

I did change it on the cam interface and then set BI to match (although BI usually found the new rate on its own). Since it is a 264 stream and goes directly to disk, how is BI impacted by this? I know the data stream will be larger, but what part of BI is affected by this? Motion...

    Another CPU usage reduction trick

Running the 5820k @ 4GHz. Previously I was running it at 4.5GHz, but there wasn't any benefit and didn't need the extra heat.

    Another CPU usage reduction trick

Yep, but it made no noticable reduction. Since it goes directly to disk, and the cameras do all the encoding, all it did was lower the file sizes and reduce the clarity with motion. The outdoor cams need to stay as high as possible as they need to catch details of moving objects (license...

    Another CPU usage reduction trick

I have 27 3MP dome cameras running indoors at 20fps and VBR between 1024 and 4096 bitrate. Then there are 7 3MP bullet cams outdoors running 30fps and CBR of 5120 bitrate. I had the outdoor cams on VBR, but I felt the cameras didn't ramp up the bitrate fast enough when there was fast motion...

    Another CPU usage reduction trick

I am looking for any other reduction I can find as I have to add 5 more 3MP cams. I don't think I can get that done with the CPU currently in use, but the latest and greatest ones don't have Intel graphics. I really don't want to split the system, but I might have no choice.

    Another CPU usage reduction trick

You never know, but on a slower system, with fewer cameras, it could have a decent reduction in CPU usage as well.

What's up with Intel HD acceleration BI 4

No new updates during the process. The entire process of starting, testing and reversing changes took about 45 minutes total. I made sure to not make multiple changes at once, keep track of my changes and reverse the changes exactly.

What's up with Intel HD acceleration BI 4

I rebooted after every change. I made 4 changes. Turned HA on, rebooted. Stopped running as a service, rebooted. Turned HA off, rebooted. Turned back on running as service, rebooted. No other changes were made.

What's up with Intel HD acceleration BI 4

Now that I know why it doesn't work, I still am at a loss as to why my CPU usage is higher when turned back off. I liked the headroom I had running under 80% and rarely saw higher than 88% for short periods.

DEAL: Dell Inspiron Intel i7-6700 3.4GHz Business Desktop $629

I used a full licensed version and I even tried moving over the settings from the original machine.

What's up with Intel HD acceleration BI 4

Well that would do it. My fault for not investigating that. I guess I figured it had what was needed since it was a high end chip. Thanks for the info. I hope they implement another means of helping out the process for those of us not able to use HA.

DEAL: Dell Inspiron Intel i7-6700 3.4GHz Business Desktop $629

I tried this system and returned it. When compared to my machine running an intel i7 5820k and 16GB DDR4, the Dell ran at 100% and mine was running at 49% with the exact same BI setup and number of cams. I looked into it and found that the Dell systemboard is the problem. They don't take...

What's up with Intel HD acceleration BI 4

I turned off VPP. I read it could be worse the more cams you have, so i kept it off.

    Another CPU usage reduction trick

I've been reading and implementing all the tricks for reducing CPU usage in BI 4 and think I found one that hasn't been discussed. I do directly to disk and realize that the on screen names and info doesn't get recorded, but I found it useful when viewing live feeds. As I added cams it was...

What's up with Intel HD acceleration BI 4

Okay, been using BI 4 with 34 3MP Longse IP cameras. All but 6 are 20fps and VBR. The other 6 are 30fps and CBR of 5120 (the VBR wasn't ramping up fast enough when movement was happening). I managed to get my CPU usage down to 78% using all the tricks (direct to disc, low realtime frame rate...
