    stunnel

I didn't read every single post within this thread as I skipped around to the ones that were relevant to me but just to double check that Stunnel is working, The only port I have open in my router is what I have now configured through Stunnel. The old one I originally had open (and unsecured) is...

    stunnel

Thanks to you, I stopped banging my head on the desk. I'm not an IT guy but am tech-savvy and I still couldn't figure it all out. Until now!

Sorry. Seemed similar enough to me. Next time I'll create a new post.

    No signal Error 8000274c

Don't mean to hijack but I've been having the same exact trouble with one of my POE cameras except in my setup, BI records right to my hard drives and not a NVR. The other day, the one Amcrest camera went offline in BI and I could not log in via the web browser either. Went outside and none of...

Question on granting one camera access to a user

Well crap! I guess I'll have to research how to get a VPN working on my system. Initiate brain scramble mode.

    Bad POE Switch?

Thanks. At this stage, VLAN and VPN and all that V stuff scrambles my brain. I'm slowly learning but at 46, my throughput isn't what it used to be. Since I knew nothing about POE switches, I went based off Amazon reviews and then what was most affordable to me. Plus, at this point, I'm only...

Question on granting one camera access to a user

Since I barely know about much about ports and nothing about configuring VPN on my PC, I just want to make sure we're talking about the same thing. When I said I opened a port to check on my cameras, I did it through my AT&T router by creating a pinhole just for Blue Iris. Is that still a bad...

    Bad POE Switch?

So if a switch is functioning properly, it should just be plug & play like the injector correct?

Question on granting one camera access to a user

He lives across the street but him buying this camera and having it point at his house is so that when he travels, he wants to be able to check on his vehicles and garage so remote phone access is top priority. Plus, he does everything through his iPhone and doesn't even own a computer in his...

    Bad POE Switch?

Question on granting one camera access to a user

Is there a cost for a good VPN or are there free ones? I have a PC.

Question on granting one camera access to a user

I have not done anything yet. Is it okay to let him use the Dahua app on his phone? Sometimes on my phone I use the Amcrest app instead of BI to check on the cameras. Is this unsafe? For the BI app, I created a 1050 port to check on my cameras when I get an alert. I know no open ports are the...

    Bad POE Switch?

So I just did a test. I just bought a BV-Tech 4 port POE switch and when my camera is connected to it (no matter which port), it constantly goes offline and re-connects. Within Blue Iris, I can see the bitrate fluctuating between 130ish and 0 even though I have that camera's bitrate set to CBR...

Got it! I'll give him access through the Dahua app. Thanks.

Question on granting one camera access to a user

In short, I installed a camera at my front door to cover walk ups, the street and my neighbor's driveway. I got him to pay for it all and now I want to grant him 24/7 access to just that camera so he can monitor his precious vehicles (don't ask). Is it possible in BI to limit my neighbor to...

Installed a new 4-port POE switch and cameras went offline.

Never mind fixed both problems. I forgot that I had reset my modem and just remembered that I had to reset a pinhole on my router firewall for Blue Iris. As far as the cameras kicking on and off, I unplugged my AT&T router/modem as well as the BV-Tech POE switch and once they were both up and...

Installed a new 4-port POE switch and cameras went offline.

I'm having issues with Blue Iris on PC and my phone. I have the one camera on wi-fi and the two on POE (all static) and BI keeps showing the cameras going offline and online and today, my BI server wouldn't even load on my phone. If I trying looking at the cameras through the Amcrest app on my...

What's the best camera type for an exterior wall that covers front door walk up?

Well you were right about thin. Holy cow! It wasn't about signal degradation in my case because I was never able to connect the damn thing. See I had to cut one end off the flat cable (big mistake) to get it though the hole in the floor and when I tried to terminate it, it was...

Installed a new 4-port POE switch and cameras went offline.

Alright here is the latest. Whether because of a bad lightning storm this afternoon or me damaging one end of camera two's ethernet cable while pulling it through the cabinet, it seems the problem is with the cable. I tried a different cable and it worked both with the injector and the new POE...

Installed a new 4-port POE switch and cameras went offline.

I took the PC off the switch and back into the main AT&T router and it seems to have fixed the wi-fi camera. The PC is what controls Blue Iris. Thanks! One down, 2 to go.

Installed a new 4-port POE switch and cameras went offline.

I must be doing something wrong because now my wi-fi camera keeps going offline/online (error 8000007a) and it's obviously not connected via ethernet. Before adding switch: Amcrest camera 1 connected via wi-fi Amcrest camera 2 POE connected via injector into AT&T router Dahua camera POE not...

Installed a new 4-port POE switch and cameras went offline.

So this is the first time I've ever used a POE switch (BV-Tech 4-port POE +2 ethernet uplink ports) for my cameras and I thought it was plug and play but now the cameras are offline. Looked for directions from BV-Tech but nothing there to help me. I have an AT&T router modem and have the switch...

What's the best camera type for an exterior wall that covers front door walk up?

I'm gonna use a wall mount bracket so it will fit perfectly over that window area.

What's the best camera type for an exterior wall that covers front door walk up?

Is that distance too long for flat type cable?
  26. Weather_Junkie

What's the best camera type for an exterior wall that covers front door walk up?

Now I think I have to brick-mount it because the Dahua dome model I want is 6.25 inches in circumference and that wood corner area between the window and brick is only 4.xx inches. Grrrr.

What's the best camera type for an exterior wall that covers front door walk up?

I probably have about a 25-35ft run from the camera to the router in the kitchen. Maybe TonyR's suggestion is better and I have those cable hiders for my home stereo rear speakers.

What's the best camera type for an exterior wall that covers front door walk up?

Thanks to you, I think I found a fairly easy way to make this work. I can mount the camera where you suggested, but instead of regular cat6 cable, I'll use the flat type so that on the inside, as I run it down to the floor, it'll pretty much blend right into the white trim of the window/door...

What's the best camera type for an exterior wall that covers front door walk up?

I've been under there many times and have never seen low voltage wires running across anywhere. The doorbell box is mounted just on the other side of foyer where I stood to take the picture and the old type telephone wire they used outside at the button seems to go up into the mortar.
