BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

Surely, you would have some static IP devices such as router, switches, access points, printers and cameras. I'm in the Unifi world, so I may be missing something when you refer to 'reserving every device'. In my mind I believe that means reserving an IP address range where DHCP cannot use...

Is this the best set out for my current needs?

From one Aussie to another, welcome to the forum. I can vouch for @EMPIRETECANDY, I have purchased all my cams from him, mostly 5442's (excellent cameras, very expensive in Australia). I'm not a big fan of a local, or Australian based, Facebook group related to CCTV, as most are installers...

BlueIris is amazing! Why bother with NVR today?

I really can't comment on the pros and cons of Blue Iris versus and NVR. I've been a Blue Iris user for 3 years now, and no complaints. I have never personally owned an NVR but in my occupation, I do have reason to check CCTV footage and my biggest peeve with NVR's is not the NVR itself but...

Chat GPT - What is the most important feature of a CCTV camera

Alright, I'm late to the party but this morning I finally had a look at Chat GPT, my first question was: What is the most important feature of a CCTV camera? The answer that came back, I'm thinking I could run all my future responses by the AI machine for confirmation and/or grammar.

Have i maxed out my BI system?

I've got a HP Prodesk i7-7700 cpu, 8 gig of ram, 13 cameras (12 x 5442's) and my cpu hovers between 7 & 10%, ram currently showing 5%. I'm running Windows 10 de-bloated and hasn't been windows updated for nearly 3 years. There must be something else going on with your system.

Install pipe under concrete driveway for less than 6 bucks!

All this fancy equipment; all I used to get under my 1.2m footpath was a sledgehammer, long crowbar, and elbow grease (a lot of it). Granted, I don't want to do that again any time soon.

    Missed Motion on BI

It's trial and error. Try reducing the Make time to 0.5 or 0.3. I don't think your zones will work until you put something in the 'Object crosses zone' box. For testing though I would first turn off the advanced settings and just mess around with the basic settings, which includes the Make...

Narrow side of house Bobbie cam or 5442?

While you're are frame-up stage, run your cables to all locations where you think you could put cameras ie. all corners. So, each corner area would have two cables (two potential cameras) and some would say add an extra for the 'just in case' scenario. Cable is cheap and if you can do it...

Narrow side of house Bobbie cam or 5442?

Thanks for the tip, don't know why I didn't do it earlier. From camera to rear fence is 17.5 m. Width is 1.8 m. I reckon this fixed 6 mm 5442 lens is about right for the job.

I know I'm not adding anything of value to this thread, but I do have to laugh at the fact that after 10 minutes it all became too hard. I'm sure that is a generation y or x or z (or whatever the newer lot are called these days) thing.

Narrow side of house Bobbie cam or 5442?

I reckon you could get away with a 6mm 5442, that's what I have for my narrow side. In the image attached the width of the side is about 1.8m and from the camera position to the fence at the end it's about 15m. I have a lot of my brick wall and neighbours' trees in the field of view. In...

I'm more interested in your TP-Link Omada system. I'm in the Ubiquity eco-system but from all my research on Omada, the software and hardware setup is similar to the Unifi way. I'm researching Omada because I'm setting up a system for my daughter and the Omada is more attractively priced...

Dahua cameras (Andy's) - Settings / System / Safety / System Service - which to turn off

You are absolutely right but the curiosity got the better of me. Before I posted these threads, I did hit the web and the Dahua wiki to try and get an understanding of what each component does or doesn't do. FWIW, PSP and UPnP were already disabled. My curiosity was piqued because I could...

Are you sure that's not a Reolink camera :) There are many settings but in the first instance I would set a faster shutter speed. What we are seeing is motion blur, the only way to fix that is with a faster shutter speed. The faster the shutter speed then more light is required which...
