    Good point. Would doing the same check from inside the network count for anything? I'm just at a loss here with this email thing. I cannot figure out what the problem is.

    Tried your exact gmail settings with no success (I allowed third party apps in google settings). I also checked port 465 using yougetsignal.com and it said port 465 was closed. Could this be the problem?

    Zero, You are my saving grace on this forum! It looks like my firmware is up to date so i'll leave that alone. I'm actually not using gmail, though i'm going to try. Here is a link to a thread I started related to the issue...

    I'm trying to figure out the same thing. Just got an NVR (LTS8716P16) and am having issues with the email alerts. After talking to a few people, they recommended checking the firmware but I have no idea what is current or what any updates involve.

    Ill give that a try when I get home. Still, it should be good since the email notification was working just prior (30 mins) to changing to the new NVR.

    I tried port 587 and 465 with and without SSL. Confirmed the username and password worked on the actual mail server. I just have no idea Should I set up port forwarding with those ports? I dont think it should matter since the other ports are already forwarded.

    So I just got a new NVR from LTS (LTN8716-P16) and can't get the email to work. I had a similar hik NVR and using the same settings, can't get it to work. Does anyone have any idea where I am messing this up? Also, under authenticaion, I tried it with the @optonline.net and without.

    I'm actually looking for the same thing. Aside from having a separate computer everywhere I want a monitor or running multiple HDMI cables (or hdmi over cat5), I came up dry. Is there some sort of remote viewing protocol built into NVRs?
