    Which network

You can add the cameras to the NVR on your regular network. You may have to specify them manually in the camera configuration, but it is easy to do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Upload to FTP on Motion Detection? DS-2CD2432F-IW

That is definitely the key setting. Without that option checked no images are captured and nothing is sent. Once I enabled that setting FTP works fine. I'm running on 5.3.0 and 5.3.6 firmware on a 4mp mini-dome (DS-2CD2542FWD) and 4mp turret camera (DS-2CD2342WD). I have not noticed any...

Upload to FTP on Motion Detection? DS-2CD2432F-IW

Were you ever able to get an image FTP'ed on motion detection? I'm having the same issue when trying to send an image using line crossing detection. I'm also on the 5.3.0 firmware with a genuine U.S. (rebranded) version.

    Hikvision Bullet Install

Thanks for the duct seal tip! I did not even know that product existed and was wondering how to seal up the fairly large hole behind my cameras, since I made the hole large enough to fit all the connectors through. Just stopped by my local big box store and picked some up this morning.

Second entry door cam directly over door?

I appreciate all the suggestions and replies! I'll definitely give turning the camera sideways first to see if that still gives the coverage I need. I may still just get a wire up into the soffet, since it will be relatively easy while I have the wall open. I'd hate to kick myself later if I...

Second entry door cam directly over door?

I'm in the process of installing my cameras and so far have got my mini-dome installed next to the front door about 6' high so that I could get a good view of faces. From this location, however, I cannot see directly under the camera and cannot see what is directly on the door step. I'm debating...

Hik NVR schedule setup--where's the "run schedule" button?

I have the same NVR and can see what you are saying regarding the indicators, but believe you are misunderstanding the feature. You are looking at the indicators under MENU->MANUAL->RECORD, which to me is just a state of the cameras at the time you went to that page. I have 3 cameras attached to...

Live View keeps saying I need plugin??

Are you sure you are using IE on Windows 10 and not the Microsoft Edge browser? I had problems with the Edge browser, but was able to get IE working. Be sure to close all browsers when installing the plugin.

This is doing my nut in, Hikvision NVR Recordings Download Button

I was able to finally get it working. I ended up running Internet explorer in compatibility mode and now the files are written out to the location specified in the configuration. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This is doing my nut in, Hikvision NVR Recordings Download Button

I'm having the same problem and am unable to find the files that are downloaded. I'm on Windows 10 using Internet Explorer. I added my IP address (internal) to the trusted sites and am trying to download locally from the same network. Still no luck in finding the files.

Need help with camera selection for driveway

Ok, I like those options. Will look into trying to get cat5/6 to the carport (that is going to be tricky). Thanks again.

Please help confirm camera choice for front door

Del Boy, do you feel that 4mm for the camera that covers the front of the house would be too tight of a view? I didn't realize that 4mm is only ~70 degrees of viewing. Here is how the street looks. The street is a court and dead ends going North, so most traffic is from the south or west.

Please help confirm camera choice for front door

Oh wow, I didn't realize that camera was not PTZ. Ok, I will go with the mini-dome and turret.

Please help confirm camera choice for front door

Great point about being more discreet. I will change my selection to the mini-dome as suggested! I was also planning on having another camera cover the front of the house. I was originally thinking of the turret 4mm so that I could also hopefully catch some license plates from cars on the...

Need help with camera selection for driveway

My driveway is set back a fair distance from the street, and I wanted to know what the best option would be in terms of focal length for the camera. I was planning on getting the Hik 4mp turret style camera with either a 2.8mm or 4mm lens. Shot of garage from street (similar house to mine)...

Please help confirm camera choice for front door

Del Boy, I was thinking of going with the 4mp turret style camera, DS-2CD2342WD. Would you recommend the mini domes over that one?

Please help confirm camera choice for front door

Ok, thanks for the feedback. I didn't realize that 4mm would be too tight of a shot even if most traffic would be approaching the door head on. Sounds like 2.8mm would be the better option in my case.

Please help confirm camera choice for front door

I've decided to go with Hikvision cameras, but am trying to decide whether I should go with a 4mm or 2.8mm lens for my front door. I've marked my proposed camera location with a red X, which is approximately 6' high. I could go higher or lower, whichever makes more sense. I was thinking of...

Need opinions on camera placement and types

Those 4K and 6MP cameras look nice, but are outside of what I was looking to spend on a per camera basis. I had another question around mounting dome cameras. Could those cameras be mounted on walls or must they be mounted horizontally on ceilings or a bracket?

Need opinions on camera placement and types

What are some other camera recommendations to get better nighttime performance? I had figured the turrets would be better than the domes, but probably not enough?

    Front door camera

Have you looked at intercom companies such as Aiphone, http://www.aiphone.com/home/products/ (look at their J series line). Our house came with one of their systems installed and it works great as a home intercom (room to room) as well as turning on the camera when someone rings the doorbell...

Need opinions on camera placement and types

I discovered this forum a few days ago and have been learning as much as I could by reading through the many threads, and have finally come to what I believe is a decent setup. I've included a top view of my house. Red lines are doors with the larger red line being the garage. Green dots are...

    Hi, new member here

Hi, just wanted to say hi as I just joined this forum. Looking to replace my D-link cameras with Hikvision (most likely).
