Oh boy a Ring Flying Cam

Q'S How does it know nobody is home? How stable will it be when passing by a heating/cooling vent, or ceiling/desk fan? The hackers are going to have fun with this one.

Why did one of my logs that show age of camera have a starting day of 1970?

Are those date stamps from a server or the camera itself? And you don't power your cameras 24/7/365? If from the camera itself, since the camera does not have a CMOS battery backed RTC clock, it needs to acquire NTP time after booting up, which appears to fail synchronization. Do you...

    Get a dashcam. Period!

I bought a new SUV a month ago. It has a backup, lane assist, and an interior camera pointed at the driver, but I cannot access any of the video which I am sure is stored somewhere upon a collision to absolve the automaker from any liability. I had to install my own separate dash camera.

Caught Catalytic Converter Thieves On My Andy IPC-Color4K-T Camera

Did the owners of the vehicles have cat anti-theft armor? Or the thieves were too lazy to crawl on the ground to take a chop saw to them?

    Gene Hackman: RIP

Reported as suspicious https://variety.com/2025/film/news/gene-hackman-death-suspicious-gas-leak-search-warrant-1236322610/ Could be foul play at the hands of someone, but in a gated community with cameras everywhere seems unlikely. Recent pictures of Gene makes me think he was not in good...

    Plane crash in Toronto

Hard landing collapsed right main gear, right wing ripped off when it hit the ground, lift from opposite wing rolled aircraft. The aircraft never flared just prior to touch down. Either an altimeter error or visibility issue with blowing snow over the runway. I can't even begin to imagine...

    Plane down in DC

From VH60 CVR/FDR: "Verbal reaction" by the crew followed by a pitch up and sounds of impact 1 second later?
  23. E

    Plane down in DC

According the following analysis. CRJ ~160kts, VH60 ~120kts, ~280kts closure. VH60 should have been pitched down as that speed, thus visual of the CRJ may have been obstructed by center console. Apparently there was an ATC CA ~20 second prior.

    Plane down in DC

I know ADSB transmits pressure altitude, but what does ATC see on their displays? I think I read TCAS uses both pressure and radar altitude. 24 hours prior TCAS avoided a mid air collision between a commercial flight and military helo. I don't recall seeing the RA alerts on the fateful collision.

    Plane crash in Philly

Reached a max altitude of 1400 ft. Likely flew into a flock of Canadian geese taking out both engines and/or came through the canopy. Sunset was approximately 5:20 PM local time. Pilot would likely not have been able to see them at that time of day. Dual engine out and/or canopy breach at...
