I need more hobbies.. Working on a PVC post discrete camera housing... (a better birdhouse)

Wasn't sure what you had planned, using a sleeve or just sitting it on top of a 4x4. The sleeve will look much nicer and no paint, hides the cable easily, etc. Better way to go right in front of the house. For mine, I have ~2' of the post buried and ~2' above ground. The sleeve is at ~32"'...

I need more hobbies.. Working on a PVC post discrete camera housing... (a better birdhouse)

Might want to think about sizing it to fit over a post sleeve. That will clean it up as far as the post look and give you space inside for cable and connections. Most have a channel at the corners where you can run cable up from the ground around the post. I just mounted some of mine to the...

Has it been slow here lately?

Too damn cold to do anything outside with cameras here. Snow does make them look great at night though.

Quick start for a local radar "cam" window... Need to change KAKQ to whatever for your local radar site. Or you can choose the larger national/regional maps. I can't see how to post a direct link with area names for the sites, but go here: National Weather Service Enter your Zip code. Click...

BI Finding Amcrest Cams, but not EmpireTech

Should be 192.168.1.108. Change your IP on the device that you're using to access it to 192.168.1.10 (or whatever as a 192.168.1.x address), then try to access the camera at 192.168.1.108. Change the cam's IP to be an address at 192.168.0.x or to to use DHCP. Change your IP back.

BI Finding Amcrest Cams, but not EmpireTech

Amcrest uses DHCP for the default IP address. Dahua uses a static IP at 192.168.1.108. I'd guess that's the root of your trouble. I'm not sure how you're set up there beyond that as far as addressing and how you're seeing it in BI.

    What cha got?

I thought that I'd use some of my old ones for fill-ins somewhere. But every time I've put one up, they look so pitiful compared to my others that I've just ended up buying a new one instead.

    What cha got?

I've got some old Amcrest 2MP with the LED circle around the lens and a few Hikvision's of about the same vintage that I'd part with for shipping cost. We should have a "Pay it forward" thread here for stuff people no longer want that's just taking up closet space.

Openvpn, Blue iris and VPNbook , is this correct?

As many do, you're confusing "VPNs." VPN can be used in various ways. Services like VPNbook, etc. are for encrypting OUTGOING traffic from your network to the Internet. They operate whatever equivalent of OpenVPN on their servers and proxy/anonymize your traffic out over the Internet. For...

    Malfunctioning Street Lamp

Time to take it out... :picfail: ; ) I have a light on a school building in the distance in one view that's been flickering for years. Bugs me every time I look at that cam. lol If it were anywhere other than a school (and with its own cams) I'd have off'ed it by now.

    Picture tuning suggestions

Better for what you're going for. Have you tried just running it on auto? Wouldn't suggest that in most cases but for your purposes that or shutter priority might get you there better.

    Picture tuning suggestions

Decent chance not. Many of these cams adjust the image to brighter lights in ways that you can't completely control no matter what you do with settings.

I wouldn't have guessed that you had any other light there. Curious to see what it looks like without car lights.

    Picture tuning suggestions

You could try it but exposure compensation won't do the same thing as HLC. And, at least as I've found it, it seems to do absolutely nothing on some of my cams when using manual exposure. I don't recall how that goes on the 4K-T. Yes, to the last point especially when you have near complete...

    Picture tuning suggestions

Primary issue - need more light. Even just a little however you might do it would help things a lot. You can play with settings forever and you'll still not really get there otherwise. Could you move the cam to a location where you may have more? e.g., If it were down near the driveway in...

Network slowing down using Blue Iris, then full speed after shutting down and turning back on

How are you measuring network speed? How are you determining that it's the network (vs your client or host) that's slowing down? Do you only see the slow down in your measurement or is there a practical effect that you're noticing and that's what caused you to start measuring things? If the...

    Houston I have a problem

Yes. As the message that you saw said, that's putting things on another subnet 192.168.0.x vs 192.168.1.x. As above, you can go into the router and change the subnet that it's using for your internal network to be .1 and then everything should be as you had if before.

Hacked DAHUA cam and added that names

My Roku devices are like that too. Always at the top of the clients with the most traffic and ridiculous amounts of connections to various servers.

    IR Illuminator or Camera Upgrade

Was looking for a contrast setting but don't see one. Might try playing with SSDR on/off and at different levels to see if that might clear things up some. Also maybe try changing Gamma a little higher/lower to get more distinct black/white. That typically tries to level things to grey at...

    IR Illuminator or Camera Upgrade

The better cameras as mentioned above. I don't know the Hanwha at all but I'd guess that you probably can get those looking a little better. Post some settings if you want and can see.

Numerous rain alerts... any fix for it?

That was the usual easy one. What does the log in BI show when the alerts happen? Should show something similar to below with an indication of what type of trigger/rule caused the alert: 12/28/2024 10:27:29.591 AM FrontDoor ONVIF Event: RuleEngine/FieldDetector/ObjectsInside...

Double check that regular motion detection is not on in the cam interface.

    IR Illuminator or Camera Upgrade

That's a lot better than it was. It's lighting things up in the distance all around. Not sure the cameras are showing it as well as it might appear with something better. Now you need the other half of the equation.

    Color 4k-x 6mm -- Half view out of focus/Blurry

Yeah, the 'blur' in this post seems opposite of what I recall being the issue with the 6mm. It was more for nearer distances. At least for the capture above, it looks more clear closer and loses focus more in the distance.
