Importing HP Elitedesk SSF or Tower to Thailand

So here I go at an attempt to answer question 1 myself. It would appear (my googling around) that if I have a valid 7, 8 or 8.1 windows key then I can do a clean install of Windows 10 and the windows installer will accept that key (7, 8 or 8.1) as authorisation and issue an ongoing digital...

Importing HP Elitedesk SSF or Tower to Thailand

I am going to take the advice here and buy a secondhand HPElitedesk, either i7 or i5 and either a gen 3 or if tower gen 4. While I thought IT gear would be cheap here (Thailand) that’s not necessarily the case and it’s difficult ( almost impossible) to find late model second hand equipment. But...

    eBay scam or legit mistake?

Just like you I would be cautious as there are scams out there that are quiet sophisticated. If you separately logged into ebay and PayPal and didnt use a link attached in the email that was sent then you should be seeing a true reflection of your ebay and paypal accounts. Where a lot of people...

    Another NVR vs BI question

Ok so I am heading off on the right track. The camera order - that’s exactly How I sorted it two weeks ago :-) I was reasonably ok with EagleEyes so I guess I’m in for a big surprise. That’s what I’m hoping.

    Another NVR vs BI question

Actually it’s the other way around Fenderman. I have a 5 year old Avtech system now with NVR but I have never used BI. The NVR was running ok until recently and seeing some issues with it I started researching for a new NVR. However on this forum I see so many people praising BI and not so much...

    Another NVR vs BI question

Thanks for the inputs here everyone. Opposing views always provide insights and learning. I am keen to give BI a go as the expanded functionality gives me more scope in setup. If it doesnt work I havent lost much as I already have a laptop I can run for the test and a switch. I should only be...

    Another NVR vs BI question

Thank you dark current. Yes thats good advice. At the moment the UPS can run about an hour then its drained. I definitely need to get smarter on this especially as I start to make decisions on new hardware. I will share progress as I go along.

    Another NVR vs BI question

OK. I didnt know that - thanks Mr_D. I may have to dive in then on BI and pay the $50 plus $10 to get me started. I understand I can still use BI as a remote viewer for an NVR so it wouldn't all be lost. However in reality the more I read the more I'm also leaning to BI so I'm already swayed...

    Another NVR vs BI question

Thanks for the advice Mr_D. I'm learning as I read. Reliability is key to my project. My laptop is also on the edge of being under spec for what I want to do mid term. So what I planning at this stage is initially to use my laptop, and set it all up in my lounge room, get it working, alter...

    Another NVR vs BI question

Thanks Mr_D. I will check my laptops BIOS. Its reasonably new so it should have it. My idea now is to purchase the camera's first and try BI. This way I really have nothing to loose as I already have a switch. If Im not happy with that setup I can revert to an NVR later.

    Another NVR vs BI question

I'm new here and this is my second post so please bear with me. I have read the cliff notes (twice), reviewed the wiki info and many threads here. I feel if I did a poll on who uses a NVR or BI the majority would be BI and I understand a lot of the reasoning which all makes sense. But my...

    Hi from Thailand

Hi to everyone. I'm based in Bangkok and have a house up country with a functional, but outdated, Avtech system I access remotely. Looking to upgrade and reading up here (threads, cliff notes, wiki etc). Hope I can learn and contribute.
