Windows 10 - Disk Not Ready with Run as a Service

I just did a fresh install of Windows 10 on my computer. I was running Windows 7 previously so trying to get this computer up with the times. I remember when I originally setup BI on Win 7 I had a hard time getting BI to "Run as a Service" and record to my network drive. After reading the help...

    Blue Iris version 5

I can confirm the same. Bought the extended service with BI on a Win 7 computer and it said not eligible. Upgraded the computer to Win 10 and I now see I am eligible. Next steps will be to do a fresh install of Win 10 on my computer!

Drive-thru KFC in Gainsborough fines people driving past

Well that would suck! The amount of times I’m in and out of the hardware store on any given weekend! There is always something you forget to buy! I guess I would have to use the second car...

    Fixed vs Vari-Focal Lenses

Hmm so I guess I took the sunrise and sunset program a little too far than. I am assuming you are suggesting that zooming in and out once a day will wear out the camera faster? FWIW, I am able to clearly identify people at night assuming they get closer to my house (the driveway is 75’ long)...

    Fixed vs Vari-Focal Lenses

I would vote budget. I bought a vari-focal because the guide said it was recommended. Originally I thought it be fully zoomed out all the time so I thought about just getting a fixed camera but I thought if someone went through all that effort to make a guide, it best to learn from someone...

Andy how to get black cameras

Chinese (New Year?) or some holiday over there shuts down everything (or at least factories) for about a month. I’m pretty sure it’s either happening now or soon so he may be getting a nice sun tan on the beach... I’m actually very curious what everyone does for a month over there!

Andy how to get black cameras

Never bought a black camera from Andy so I would definitely confirm with him. I would guess that you don’t have to pay up front but I would also guess that the black cameras go fast once he receives them.

Andy how to get black cameras

He placed an order of the black cameras from Dahua. The earliest he will receive them is March. The typical cameras come in white so it takes longer to get the black color as it is a special order.

16:9 is horrendous, please stop buying them

I got all excited about changing a few of my cameras to 4:3 as it would be nice for a few cameras... only to find out that all the resolution options for those specific cameras are only 16:9. Got all excited for nothing.

Package theft - what you really need is a new smart door!

That’s cool and all but my delivery guys can’t figure out which button to push for a smart doorbell... in fact most the time they run up to the door and literally slide the package to the front door and run back to the truck. No chance they try and figure out how to work this door.

Public WiFi and Open VPN being blocked.

I have found 443 to be the best bet, of course that is the port that hackers know and will try and exploit. I switched to a different port as my logs showed may attempts to get into my network. As soon as I switched to an obscure port the attempts went away. I agree with the others LTE +...

Blue Iris - Door Bell Button Trigger

I have a RCA DB1 Door Bell installed and working with BI for the past couple of months. It's currently setup to trigger my phone app if someone enters a zone on my front porch. It's been working as one would expect with BI (i.e. I haven't had any issues :)). At this point I have deleted the RCA...

New RCA HSDB2A 3MP Doorbell IP Camera

I have the older version and I literally had to take my second WiFi router and place it almost directly underneath it in the basement for it to connect to the WiFi reliably. After doing that it’s been rock solid. I would take your closest WiFi router and find a long Ethernet cable to run the...

3 WD Purples failing @ the same time.

It’s certainly possible that all the drives could fail “around” same time. As a rule of thumb, for server applications, it’s best to not buy all the hard drives (same size and brand) all at one time as we have seen correlations that hard drives from the same “lot” seem to fail around the same...

Car Spinning Donuts On The Corner

Out of curiosity, does every time someone turns that corner at night, do the headlights cause an alert? Or do you want to have your cameras make an alert every time a car comes by? I just recently put up an outside camera for the first time and am slowly learning about zones and zone crossing ...
