Sorry I'm in UK, that one I linked is £250 from Andy without discount, not sure what that is in dollars? I don't think there is anything inbetween, you might get similar low light but better resolution with the Hik low light cams, not sure what the price is on these, Andy only lists Dahau... -

No, it's the generally considered the best budget, or bang for buck, low light camera. Dahau do a similar but more expensive version, but only you will know if it's worth the premium. Plenty of far higher priced cameras avalible too. If link works I believe this would be considered, next step... -

Very strange, it allowed me to enable, CPU dropped for a short duration down to high 20s then reverted right back up, still enabled but not working!? The note in the link does say it doesn't work on demo but I can certainly enable it. -

Um, I'm not sure we are discussing cheaper? Are the ones the OP mentioned cheaper? I was thinking more like Teslas decision to drop the tried and tested 18650 to develop their own superior product etc etc... I'm certainly not against tried and tested, if that's what you want, more power to... -

What a horrible answer! I mean I'm sure your right but that's just a depressing attitude in general, imagine where Elon Musk would be now if he stuck to the tried and tested?? Although I'm not sure hard drive choices quite deserve that comparison :D -
Looking for a camera security system.
Just to offer some defence, perhaps they meant image quality... often in a very similar price bracket, fixed lens do give better image quality, you will see that in normal cameras too. I think the benefit that the exact fit a varifocal can give you would more than make up for a tiny improvement...- Jinx

Looking for 4K 8MP camera
You werent wrong, the 4 k vs your 3mp should enable further plate reading ability in the well lit area you mention. It's just you will see more improvement with a greater zoom and better viewing angles. I bought a 4mp and a 4K Hik recently, the 4K version is significantly better in daylight.- Jinx
