    PFA 137 vs PFA 130e

I've been reading up on ethernet cables and termination solutions, field termination plugs look awesome for the NVR or Switch end even though they're more expensive. But they seem so quick and easy to use. And I'm really interested in CAT8 cable, as the increased shielding and lower resistance...

Hello Bob Schulz, can you give us a basic drawing of the area that you are placing the cam in? It may give folks better ideas for you.

Order another cpu or get discreet gpu?

Basic CPU and update BIOS, you should be able to post with the i9 then myknownself. Definitely a BIOS issue, the i9 is probably not supported by the current flashed version.

    PFA 137 vs PFA 130e

In fact I'm a little bit envious of you Andyh747, wish I had the experience to terminate my own ethernet cables. As I consider myself frugal, also I like to do things myself instead of paying someone else a small large fee.

    PFA 137 vs PFA 130e

That's good, had to use off the shelf cables myself at the moment Andyh747 and discovered that the strain relief solution on the ends of the cable don't play nice with the waterproof boot connector that Dahua supply. But as you terminate your own, you should be fine.

    PFA 137 vs PFA 130e

No worries Andyh747, I'll sort one tomorrow for you to give you a better opinion. Are you going to use off the shelf ethernet cables or terminate your own?

Order another cpu or get discreet gpu?

myknownself, is the Motherboard BIOS the latest version? As it's certainly sounding as though it's a BIOS issue, and updating to the latest version may resolve most issues. Then BIOS settings will need to be tweaked to use all components to their optimal potential. The only issue is that...

    PFA 137 vs PFA 130e

Hello Andyh747, I have a Dahua IPC-HDW4231EM-ASE mounted on a Dahua DU-PFA130-E. It does give you more options and it doesn't give a massive visual impact either, unfortunately it's dark out now where I am (UK). But I can take a photo tomorrow when it's light if you'd like?

That's another reason for constantly recording footage, motion detection may not get all the footage you need.

Hello fljoe, if you want or need good low light performance. 2MP (1080p) cams with a large sensor will be the best option.

That's if the case speaker is attached crw030, which we hope it is. I was thinking that the mobo may well need the BIOS updating to support the CPU.

Are camera's useful anymore for theft?

notta, you could consider using constant recording at night time.

    Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

Sorry, back again with another query. Can you set Motion Detection with Constant Recording? I have tried to enable both with 0 seconds prerecord and don't seem to be having much luck. I'm sure I'm missing something, so any help will be appreciated. Even if it's to tell me no, you can't do...

    IPC-HFW5231E-Z12E vs. IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E

2MP will have the best low light performance and keep costs down, and a high shutter speed will help capture action.

    NVR Questions

BullCity, you see my point. I'm not saying that 4K is terrible, it's just not quite developed enough yet and given time the technology will improve. I have an interest in Astronomy, only a basic one at that but I do have some nice toys to play with and I'd get lost without Stellararium. And...

Need help identifying and unbricking IPC

I'm noticing IP addresses beginning with 192.168 there, try changing to 1.1.01.01 and using an ethernet hub or switch to try and connect. Otherwise you may well be using an IP address range that is incompatible with the cam.

The mystery of the "invisible" license plate on my LPR cameras

You could try playing around with manual IR and shutter speed, as it kind of looks like glare and too high a shutter speed at night would loose detail. Has anyone got the LPR tweaking or tuning link available please for wtimothyholman?

Need help identifying and unbricking IPC

Hello gubergren, I think that the IP address is 1.1.01.04 on the label. So you may well have to change your ethernet adapter to an IP in that range to connect to it. I've tried to find out more using information from the barcode, but unfortunately I haven't had any luck finding out anything.

    Driveway Dusk to Dawn Light

No worries crw030, it's a good idea though. Just means that I'll have to practice my Google Fu and see if I can trawl something up from the depths of the net. At least it'll keep me busy.

    Driveway Dusk to Dawn Light

crw030, I really like the looks and execution of those Leviton timers. But not really that useful for the UK market, as we use 240V AC and they're rated for 120V AC. It's a bit disappointing.

    IPC-HFW5231E-Z12E vs. IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E

By the looks of it Rickoo, either of the Z12E cams are possibly a good option. They have a good CMOS and the focal length is from 5.3mm to 64mm (the largest focal length range available from Dahua. 5231 tech docs say that the maximum frame rate is 50 FPS (PAL) and 60 FPS (NTSC), whereas the...

    IPC-HFW5231E-Z12E vs. IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E

Just checking with you Rickoo, so you are going to be observing at approx 16 feet or is the mounting location at 16 feet? The distance to your object or objects of interest is necessary, as this relates to the lens needed.

    IPC-HFW5231E-Z12E vs. IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E

I think that shutter speed will be of more importance Rickoo, but that's an advanced tweak that's not too terrible to do. But what distance is of interest, would you like dome or turret style cameras and do you need either a microphone or speaker on the cameras? I'm more the dome camp (metal...

Connect camera to NVR via powerline adapter?

jj007, you'll still need a POE hub or switch for multiple cameras or possibly a POE injector for a single camera. Otherwise you'll have to consider how else you'll provide a camera with power?

    NVR Questions

The 2MP cameras have better low light capabilities due to the larger pixel size on the CMOS, so they're a better choice in some respects. And the price is a lot more reasonable on the pocket, which is always good as allows you to spend money better elsewhere as I mentioned in my previous post...
