    Blue Iris runs only on Windows so you could access a headless computer via Remote Desktop. You would need to be careful with the environment in terms of temperature swings, ventilation, dust, etc. No doubt on some occasions you would need to access the computer to do a hard reset.

    In this case is there any significant difference in terms of performance with regard throughput to the NVR from all connected cameras being local vs. a switch hop and, presumably, a gigabit link cable? Are there any differences from a networking (subnet) perspective?

    Thanks, I'll check the options at my local DIY store. Need to find a connector with an aperture big enough to pass an RJ45 plug if possible. In worst case I'll cut the plug and re-terminate with a new one after the cable is passed through.

    Thanks, I think I meant to say "waterproof junction box". I got hold of a PFA13B but it has 4 holes vs the camera mounts 3 and they are the wrong PCD (diameter). One of those should do it.
