Don't email that file to yourself!!! It should never leave your network. Download a file manager app, plug your phone into the computer or figure out another secure way to get the file from your computer to your phone. Do not use email, drop box or anything else that can be compromised.

    Suggestions on ethernet cable

Definitely use monoprice and whichever cable you end up getting...buy a crimping tool and a box of ends and make your own Cable. So easy. And you won't need a 100ft premade cable to make the 52 ft run that your 50ft premade cable can't make for you.

    Dahua NVR for DMSS app

Also I use the gDMSS app for alerts and remote viewing of recorded video...but use the tinycam app for all my live viewing. Tinycam pro is a great app and well worth the money.

    Dahua NVR for DMSS app

I have my gDMSS app connected to my NVR...not the individual cameras. So, no, it shouldn't matter. Personally I got the non Poe NVR for a couple reasons, 1) it was quieter - one fan vs two 2) it was cheaper 2A) cheaper but then you gotta buy a poe switch...or two...or three 3) I have cameras...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

@nayr suggests in this threads first post running your vpn server on your BI PC as a good second alternative if your router can't do it. In that case you would forward the VPN port (by default usually 1194) thru your router to your BI PC.

I did. Or you mean something more elaborate? I put the metal barn roofing piece over it after the connection failed. I had been thinking about it beforehand, but didn't get around to it.

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

This is a Dahua IPC-HDW1320S purchased from @EMPIRETECANDY. It has the same waterproof connection as my three 5231 cams so I figured it was relevant...but good catch. And yep...very much exposed. It didn't take very long at all to corrode....maybe 2 weeks? And I'm talking about the screw...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

I had this issue as well, except I had the water proof connection installed, but there must have been a pinch in the seal or something because it only lasted a week out in direct weather. I cut the connection off of the cat5e cable I made and put a new one on. I noticed the old one was corroded...

Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 - Change Working HDD

I'll look thru the NVR settings Tonight to see about checking and testing the HDD. I don't remember if there is an option to format it from the NVR, but if there is I'll do that tonight as well. I don't mind losing my 11 days of video right now. And no, nothing besides a monitor, network cable...

Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 - Change Working HDD

Looking back through my logs/videos, there were 5 other instances in the 11 days of saved video of blacked out videos on all channels (about 12-15 minutes each time) and none of them had anything in the logs to give me an idea of whats going on.

Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 - Change Working HDD

I got on my computer this evening to pull a video clip, but Murphy screwed me again and it seems that the 10 seconds of video I wanted just so happened to be in the one block that my NVR didn't record today. So I went to the logs and saw that at the exact time the video cut out, there was an...

Looks like there's a new firmware....I am not sure what I have now (pretty sure it's before the v2.15 that seems to be the last one talked about here...) But I'm still not getting IVS alerts on my phone using gDMSS so I'm hoping a newer firmware would help. Has anyone successfully tried this...

My ISP does not support VPN - alternate way to view my ipc remotely?

If you have a device such as a NAS that has a VPN built in you could probably use that? Or get a raspberry pi and use the program PIVPN. You would forward one port from the router to the pi to handle the VPN. Might be worth looking into. I'm pretty sure you can use a different port than the...
