Migrating BI from Windows XP Pro to 8.1

... making some progress but need some help. Help file says . . . "How do I backup and/or restore all settings or move them toa new PC? You can use the new Export button from the Optionspage. Right-click and Merge this ontothe new PC. The caveat is if you aregoing from a 32-bit OS to 64-bit...

Migrating BI from Windows XP Pro to 8.1

In a nutshell, XP machine met an unfortunate death. Building new machine with 8.1. I'm hoping I can recover data. I did create a backup using the Blue Iris software. I also created backup within BI Tools (I think these might be the same?). I remember reading in the help files something...

Remember to take the oldest firmware update first, then consecutively add newer updates.

    Stop Action Recording

Have you tried to update the firmware on the Foscam or try selecting a different camera in the configuration? When I updated my Foscam I could then use direct-to-disk. Sadly, the camera new out of the box needed 5 consecutive firmware updates. Mine is a different model but this might work for...

Blue Iris Schedule configuration just "gone"

I just reconfigured the schedule and I will wait and see if it is stable. Civil twilight is working, but civil twilight was never a problem for me. I think our issues might have been unrelated. Thanks for the updates mcx.

Blue Iris Schedule configuration just "gone"

Looking at your attachment, I see that the profile is still there when civil twilight is unchecked. In my case, it doesn't exist with civil twilight checked or unchecked.

Blue Iris Schedule configuration just "gone"

No. I have BI App (Android) but made no changes there either.

Blue Iris Schedule configuration just "gone"

Noticed BI was sending copious alerts today. Also noticed that the schedule was on "profile 2", my settings for night time. After reviewing the configuration settings for the schedule in BI options, I noticed that all my settings for profile 1 and profile 2 no longer exists. What happened...

I do believe, in time, Google fiber will make the competition compete. We have already seen Charter make a change in favor of the consumer with Charter Spectrum ($29.99 for 60mb) nationwide.

Economic solution to view IP CAMs on TVs

The only hardware you need is the Chromecast dongle. It really is pretty simple. As Icerabbit said, a lot of variables for each owns decision. Total investment $35 per Chromecast device. Groupon sells them $25 refurbished.

    Computer for Blue Iris

Looks like the 6 core i7-5820K is about $50 more than the i7-4790K quad. DDR4 memory is running about $100/8GB vs the same for DDR3. Haven't looked at motherboards yet. <edit> Motherboards are running $250-$400...

Economic solution to view IP CAMs on TVs

I had to go back and read the OP, and I think there is a much simpler solution. This does for me what Karateo is trying to do. I cast BI using a Chromecast to my 80" display in the entertainment room. To do it use chrome browser on the machine hosting the BI software. Select Google cast...

    Computer for Blue Iris

Well time is not my friend. I'm starting to see issues requiring a fresh install, and don't want to do it a second time after new hardware is delivered. What's with AMD? I've had good performance with them on several machines.

    Computer for Blue Iris

Great topic. I've recently added more cameras and realize it's time for an upgrade as I'm taxing the cpu. I only need a new cpu, motherboard, memory. I plan to install a crucial M500 SSD for the OS (W8.1), with additional hard drives for data that I'm currently using. Is the i7-4770 the only...

Network cabling issues for POE cameras

Thank you Nayr and Icerabbit. You guys nailed it. I picked up some cat5e connectors last night from a local box store, put them on the suspect 58' cable and presto. I bought the premier cable from a local electronics parts distributor. I can't remember where I purchased the connectors...

Network cabling issues for POE cameras

Nayr, I currently have it on the floor in the office. No HID/Fluro ballasts, power mains, etc. that would be suspect. Icerabbit, I suspect the cable. So far, prefab cables work in all ports with all cameras. Long custom cables will not work with any cameras, both POE or with power supply...

Network cabling issues for POE cameras

Nayr, I tried this. Plug the custom 50'+ cable into a non POE port and added an ac adapter for power, ran the SADP utility from Hikvision and no luck=no data. When I put the custom cable back into a POE port (without the adapter of course) I get enough power to illuminate the IR LED's = good...

Network cabling issues for POE cameras

The cameras are Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I. I get the same issue with the Foscam, although I have the Foscam running on the 40' cable no problem. Yes to POE switch.

Network cabling issues for POE cameras

Well, my next spool is cat6. Just can't believe a 50 foot cable doesn't work. I'm confident that the connections are tight. So, does the pin out assignment matter? Straight-through or cross-over? Can the POE switch be suspect? Just want to make sure all the basics are correct since the...

Network cabling issues for POE cameras

I keep experiencing issues when making a cable over approximately 50 feet. I'm not sure if it is the distance, the connectors, or something else. I test the cable after making them and they test correctly for the pin out. Cable is UTP 4PR 24AWG Cat5e. The last one I tried that would not...
