    Paint it Black?

Got some new Dahua cameras today (Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE). Some will be soffit mounted, where I have very dark brown or black aluminum (as per this photo from another post). Is it going to present any serious longevity or other issue if I paint the white body/housing black or dark brown? I...

    Need front door camera help

Good to know. I have ordered a few IPC-HDW5231R-ZE and will use one at the front door, I expect with a tigher zoom for that location ... just have to try different wall heights before I finalize the mounting location! Thanks all for the help. I will advise on results once I have some!

    Need front door camera help

I would drill a small hole then add the connector afterwards. And ideally would be able to do that hole through the mortar AND also mount the camera via screws into more mortar holes with plugs. Unfortunately about the IVS features (which I just read up on a little): I am using Blue Iris so no...

Agreed! Although I didn't do that at the old house...but that is a long story! :)

    Need front door camera help

OK thanks for the feedback. Attached is requested image showing more of front: under the porch slab is the cold room: you can see the two vents on the stair face. As noted, I will have separate camera(s) at the corner of the house under the eaves at the right side of image I don't like the idea...

    Need front door camera help

Thanks ... I will look up that camera. The left side is actually a bedroom (and yes it is a mailbox there). On the right is the office - and a desk and hutch covers that wall, which already has an ethernet jack for the room ... so definitely easier to keep the camera on the right, which also...

    Need front door camera help

I've moved and need to install a bunch of exterior cameras. I need help for the front door area (see attached photo). I don't want to spoil the aesthetics of the new place either! MOUNTING LOCATION? I will probably install a doorbell camera (left side of doorway). But ideally I would have a...

Not sure if this is good enough, but I managed to find a 5.1.6 version firmware here: Downloadcenter

2CD2032 Firmware ... current web location?

Hey thanks very much Alistair, who knew ... the Russians have old firmware. :) UNFORTUNATELY I still need to locate the 5.1 firmware for 2CD2xx2 to get the complete set for upgrading. ANYONE KNOW WHERE V5.1 FW CAN BE FOUND??

2CD2032 Firmware ... current web location?

Thanks ... The problem is I need also 5.1 and 5.2 ... or else what are the odds that an attempt to go from 5.0.2 to 5.3.0 will go smoothly without problems? Anyone know where 2CD2x32 f/w versions 5.1 and 5.2 can be had?

2CD2032 Firmware ... current web location?

I've seen various URLs here but none of them are current it seems: I need a link to get the DS-2CD2032-I firmware (WR in serial number, not CH). I think my current version 5.1.2 build 140116 f/w is not the latest, but that camera is working and an older one with 5.02 130805 firmware cannot be...

Use Two LAN Ports (1 for cameras only)?

Funny ... I was just reading the help and noticed the point you made: I was going to come back here to make an update but you beat me to it. Thanks.

Use Two LAN Ports (1 for cameras only)?

This is an interesting idea, but then I realized it has no value for me: Blue Iris puts its own time stamp overalay on the video. I think this idea would only be useful if you had an SD card in your camera for local recording, which I do not do.

Use Two LAN Ports (1 for cameras only)?

Thanks guys. You are right - the two LAN connections on the same subnet to the same router confuses things. Now I have received my used 11 year old Cisco switch (48 port POE C3560G, $150 IIRC) and configured a VLAN with 16 ports for cameras and second Blue Iris PC NIC: this VLAN of course has...

Use Two LAN Ports (1 for cameras only)?

If I add a second NIC to my Blue Iris PC and put all my cameras with this second Blue Iris LAN port onto one VLAN that cannot reach the internet, and use the current/main Blue Iris PC LAN port for internet connectivity, will this work OK? Has anyone tried this? I am waiting for a used Cisco...

Can't upgrade Annke I61R? (no file browser dialog)

Wait ... didn't realize Internet Explorer is still installed on my new Win10 PC! Tried that and it let me run and enable the add-on and the Browse button now works!! Thnx! (Still had an issue with path too long when picking digicap.dav...but it worked (so far) when I picked Firware Directory...

Can't upgrade Annke I61R? (no file browser dialog)

No Go: On my Windows 10 Blue Iris PC I've tried to "browse" to a s/w file with no response in all 3 installed browsers: -Edge -Chrome -Firefox This includes trying also to download and run/install (with the browser closed as requested) the WebComponents add-on offered on the Annke Configuration...

Can't upgrade Annke I61R? (no file browser dialog)

I have v5.3.5 in an Annke I61R camera and was going to upgrade per V.F. post (here). However on the Annke camera's web page, on the config tab, under the maintenance section: when I click on the "Browse" button to load the digicap.dav file, well... nothing happens! :( I get no file dialog...

    Hikvision vulnerability detected by Rogers

If you will read upstream you will note as per fenderman that UPnP is already turned off. My old modem does not have great wifi...I would replace it if I decided to bridge my Hitron.

    Hikvision vulnerability detected by Rogers

Hmmm...reset the router and Zoomeye still finds those 2 HikVision cameras, yet all port forwarding is off. How does this happen? Maybe it is cached and not really re-running the test? Also forgot to add: no VPN here. Not sure that is worth the trouble? I don't want to spend more money on...

    Hikvision vulnerability detected by Rogers

OK, thanks for the replies, ...here is an update. I ran the full port test at ShieldsUp!! Unfortunately it does not give a report. Yup ... router had a quite a lot of port forwarding rules already! See sample below. Those rules are now all disabled.Safe now!?!?

    Hikvision vulnerability detected by Rogers

OK thanks for the quick reply ... I checked and indeed you're right: cameras all had UPnP enabled, as did router: I disabled all of them. Is that all I need to do? Or should I also upgrade software? (Currently have four of model DS-2CD2032-I: 3 run V5.1.2 build 140116; 1 runs V5.0.2 build 130805.)

    Hikvision vulnerability detected by Rogers

Related point...I was wondering if it would be beneficial in any way (including addressing the above issue) if I used a second NIC in the Blue Iris PC and put all cameras on one switch connected to that NIC, so that there was no path from internet to camera?

    Hikvision vulnerability detected by Rogers

My internet provider (Rogers) sent me an email and left me an automated voice mail of a somewhat threatening nature regarding, and I quote: They link to a Hikvision page about a vulnerability: link is here. So my question is: is it safe to follow the firmware upgrade procedure from that link...

    Missing following action

I have an issue where I capture initial motion, but when that motion moves out of frame and then comes back in a second time (a short time later, maybe 5-20s), the second time motion is not captured/saved. Anyone know what setting to adjust for this? How many people just record EVERYTHING...

    DS-2CD2032-I Power Connector type?

I was concerned it might be an issue with my POE switch perhaps ... however after sorting out some configuration issues I now have them working reliably via POE! But it is still good to know what the connector type is ... might use that for some more remote cameras since I already have a good 5A...
