What is Hikvision "Live-Guard" and is anyone using it?

Looks like there has been no further development by Hikvision. At least for the G2 series cameras. I tried the beta firmware last year but it had some issues so I reverted back to the standard firmware while I waited for a newer release which never came.

Is anyone using Hik ColorVu cameras in a rural location with not much ambient light?

The experiment was to test how the 2CD2347G2 performed against a 2CD2335FWD-I under that same conditions. The 2CD2335FWD-I did a reasonable job under the circumstances and based on the claimed specs, the 2CD2347G2 would perform markedly better. The two cameras were tested side by side and...

How to get Smart Event set up on camera GUI to mark the Event on the NVR's playback timeline?

Ok. I've just tested my NVR to make sure I'm not giving you bad information. Happy to confirm that it's working exactly as I described. In the Playback menu on the NVR, select "SMART" playback mode. Once the camera you want to search is selected and playing back in continuous mode the...

How to get Smart Event set up on camera GUI to mark the Event on the NVR's playback timeline?

Definitely works with Line Crossing and Intrusion detection...I've done it myself on the NVR but I prefer to use iVMS4200 since the NVR is too difficult to access in my case. Using the same process as iVMS4200 draw over the playback footage the region of interest and it will highlight only...

How to get Smart Event set up on camera GUI to mark the Event on the NVR's playback timeline?

I'm 90% sure when I play back directly on the NVR interface using "Smart Playback" setting only the search results are played, skipping over the continuous video where appropriate.

How to get Smart Event set up on camera GUI to mark the Event on the NVR's playback timeline?

I think the NVR and iVMS4200 search functions have improved markedly over the last few years. The best feature, which I stumbled across by accident, is the ability to do retrospective ad-hoc smart event searches on the recorded video By drawing a line-crossing, intrusion detection or motion...

Availability of 8MP ColorVu Turrets DS-2CD2387G2-L(U)

@James022 what are the chances of posting a few day / night snaps from your 2CD2387G2 and a bit of a review? You appear to be one of the few that have managed to get their hands on this new model camera. In Australia we are still waiting for Hikvision suppliers to stock this model and it's...

VCA search not working - No Intelligent Record File

I recently installed a new Seagate ST4000VX013 4TB SkyHawk HDD in my 7608NI/I2-8P NVR alongside the original Seagate 2TB SV2000 drive and after recommissioning the unit found that I could no longer carry out VCA Smart Event searches using iVMS4200. When trying to retrospectively review VCA...

New firmware for AU NVR (DS-7608NI-I2/8P)

@allypally that's what Hikvision Australia will tell their customers to avoid having to provide support for newer firmware releases. AFAIK it's not true. Except for the China region vs World Region products that were available on Aliexpress and other sites you can load firmware sourced from...

    New firmware for G3 Platform IP Cams (2XX6G2 2XX7G2 2XX6G0 XE6XXX) » 5.5.800_210628

New firmware has appeared on the Hikvision Download Portal for the G3 platform cams with revision 5.5.800_210628 This seems to go against Hikvision's advice that v5.5.160 would be the last release for G3 platform devices. link here...

New firmware for AU NVR (DS-7608NI-I2/8P)

Updated 7608NI/I2-8P to v4.51.007 (dated 18/08/2021). No issues to report. By the incremental change in version number looks to be a minor bug-fix release.

    DS-2CD2387G2-L(U)

Comparing the datasheets of the 2cd2386g2 and the 2cd2387g2 they both appear to be identical in size. I have the Gen2 turrets and whilst they were slightly bigger then the previous generation they aren't excessively big. I still much prefer the turret over the bullet style camera. The only...

Excellent! This is what I've been waiting for....effectively the turret version of the 2CD2087G2...uses a 1/1.2 image sensor. I hope the release date is not too far away.

    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

If your camera is a G3 platform based camera, which it is judging by the fact you are on firmare v5.5.160, you shouldn't expect to see any new firmware updates/releases. Hikvision has already announced that v5.5.160 will be the last release for G3 platform cams. Unless you can lobby Hikvision...

Can you please provide the settings used in each camera and the lens details for reference? The exposure times in particular. i have a couple of 2cd2386g2 cams and the low light performance is much better than the 2cd2346g2 simply because it uses a larger image sensor. I’d say the 2cd2386g2...

New firmware for AU NVR (DS-7608NI-I2/8P)

For you information, a newer firmware (v4.51.005) was posted a little while ago on Hikvision's Global site for the 76xxNI-I series NVRs which has been discussed at length on another forum. There has been very positive feedback on this newest firmware update. In particular the web interface has...

Initial review of the DS-2CD2347G2-L(U) ColorVu 2.0 IP camera.

@bobajob. As far as I know the G3 and G5 firmware are not interchangeable. Hikvision published a document which you can find in my last post (see above) which lists the cams using the G3 and G5 firmware. Unfortunately, the 2CD2347G2 is not listed. I'm interested in knowing if you are...

In my travels I came across the attached Excel spreadsheet on Hikvision's Download Portal which seems to clear up which model cameras use the G3 and G5 firmware. The models highlighted in YELLOW are all using the G5 firmware. The instructions also state "Yellow-labeled model: (C) is not on...

In this particular instance the outdoor PIR sensor which once switched on the external lighting was replaced with a smart switch and now uses the camera smart events to trigger the lights instead. The PIR was problematic since it would trigger the outdoor lighting with the slightest breeze...

I think @EMPIRETECANDY has nailed it in one. If nothing else I've learned a few valuable lessons from this exercise. 1. Take Hivksion's stated performance specs with a grain of salt. The LUX specs in particular. When there is no stated basis for the specified LUX levels assume it is at the...

Initial review of the DS-2CD2347G2-L(U) ColorVu 2.0 IP camera.

I'm still trying various settings to find something that I think I can live with. Setting the exposure to 1/12th secs made a big difference to the image. Its how the camera ships as default but its too low to be useful in practice because it will cause ghosting. The 1/12th exposure gives me a...

Initial review of the DS-2CD2347G2-L(U) ColorVu 2.0 IP camera.

I agree that needing some light sounds like a very sensible conclusion but, reading the Hikvision sales blurb it states (or implies) that the cam produces full colour image in any light conditions and uses the supplemental "white light" leds where no light is present. Auto what? Auto shutter...

I might be wrong but the Gen2 ColorVu 8MP camera is a box camera? Its a different beast but yes, from what I've seen in a number of reviews it produces outstanding night images. Maybe that's where I should be looking. Its just that I really like the Turret format.

I'm not going to argue with the fact that the camera does not appear to be the best choice on this occasion. The proof is there in the pictures. The question is then, if a ColourVu 2.0 camera is not the best choice then what is? Of course could jump up to a professional/commercial series box...

Here is the TLDR: Got a new 2CD2347G2-LU and not very happy with the performance! Maybe I'm expecting too much of a $AU250 camera? I wanted to give some feedback on my impression of my first 2CD2347G2 Gen2 ColourVu and for that matter the first ColorVu I've ever used. From the outset I'm...
