    Figured it out.... when I specified the folder, it created another folder in it, so my recordings were a level lower than expected. The old camera folder that was empty was probably from a previous attempt where I forgot to click "Enable" or something.

    For one Dahua camera only, I get success on test, it creates the camera folder, but nothing is ever created inside, for the other cameras, they work, but I got them setup a while back and I don't remember the Voodoo I did to get them working.

    This isn't accurate and isn't answering my question. The DMSS app is the mobile app for Dahua, but it can be used with more than their NVR. It can also be used with their cameras directly (without needing an NVR) and other products such as IVSS, VTOs and access devices.
