I celebrated too soon. Web is back, but now my POE cams, which were working and connected before the windows update, are not able to connect. UGH A reboot of the unmanaged switch didnt help. When I was just using the comcast gateway/router the cameras had IP adresses of 10.0.0.xx The two POE...

Ok ...so..... two major developments since the other day. FIRST The Comtrend powerline gizmos arrived yesterday and I put those in place for my Brillcam WIFI camera. I was AMAZED at how easy those were to set up. MAGIC. I get an alternating green and red "connection" light at the camera end...

So by selecting "age" it will keep "everything" regardless of age until the drive gets to thepoint where it is as full as the "file size" allows then? Makes sense. With my tiny drive right now, pretty sure I wont get 14 days anyhow...LOL

    Brillcam POE dropping

Ok that must be it..... I was reading that limit as individual file sizes......duh. Looks like the "new" clips add up to just under 10 GB..... I read somewhere in the manual that you should not "fill" the drive.....I'll set it for 600 GB --- the drive holds 680 GB....that leaves 12%-ish...

I just took a look at the BI software, which has been running steady since around 2am this morning.... Seems that I can only see "new" and "stored" clips for my cameras going back 4 hours today? Nothing from this morning. The hard drive still have 550 GB of empty space.... Is this a...

Good advice again...thanks! I ordered the Comtrend GHN 1200 Mbps powerline ethernet bridge adaptor....no pass thru or wifi....2 unit kit. I'll see how it works on the outbuilding camera and then if it works get another 2 pack. for the second wifi camera and a third use yet TBD. Also ordered...

    Brillcam POE dropping

Thanks very much! I may well take you up on that! I agree with the last sentiment..one thing at a time...but they all overlap......I guess I could start with getting the WIFI cams connected via the powerline first..... Then get the router and get the camera set up on the dual nic......the VPN...

Well, they dont give much info..... " How to set up a VPN With Xfinity, you can set up a VPN through your home router. With your VPN’s “bridge” functionality you can create a remote desktop Web connection and use the Internet securely anywhere. Third-party applications and downloadable...

What do you think about the Asus RT-AX68U? Pricey...but it is one of their newer ones....and I do not want to skimp on the wifi side...... https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-WiFi-Router-RT-AX68U-Compatible/dp/B08S7CK5T5/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=RT-AX68U&qid=1616305189&sr=8-1

I googled these two items and all I can say is ...wow....I had no idea this stuff was out there. Which would you choose? The powerline adaptor seems easiest....? Are they reliable? Would i be able to use the ONE at the POE switch , and then use one each at the two WIFI cameras, sharing the...

    Brillcam POE dropping

So adding the dual NIC card wont be bad.....looks like a PCI 1 10/100/1000 card is under $20.... I think the rub for me will be around the WIFI cameras and the "cheap access point plugged into the POE SWITCH"..... In my weeks of messing with this, I had moved the comcast modem/WIFI router from...

I have the NVIDIA geForce GT 610 card in the box now....I will check out the setting you showed above and see if its available to me... ***UPDATE --- Yep its there and it allowed me to select it. Didnt see any change while recording. I assume it is in the playback where this comes into play.

On the "BI PC hardware" link, its says: "Blue Iris supports hardware-accelerated H.264 and H.265 video decoding through the use of Quick Sync Video, a technology that is exclusive to Intel CPUs with integrated graphics. " So I may be dead in the water already with the AMD system. :(

....but if the cameras are not connected to the asus router, then why do I need it at all? The comcast modem includes a 4 port router and wifi..... The way I have it now is: Comcast modem router , one line plugs in and goes to a small gigabyte switch I have 4 PCs on.....another line runs to...

Those links look great! Pretty intimidating but looks like step by step..... If I went with the ASUS route, could I use the comcast built in WIFI router for my home PCs/android devices and just use the ASUS for my wifi cam, dual nic BI pc and the POE switch/cams? That second picture/diagram...

    Brillcam POE dropping

I am learning a lot here guys!!!! So I just roamed around outside at night in varying amounts of light...porch lights on, off etc. I have to say, the brillcams do a decent job. Watching the rolling video I can see my ugly mug 100% clear, even zoomed in. As WITTAJ said, when frozen they do...

Great points that you and WITTAJ make as far as night time shots etc......
