As bigredfish suggested. One is for Ethernet (even if not used) other is WiFi. I've seen this two IP address discovery on other cameras that work on Ethernet or WiFi.
I understood that the Smart Search is just for standard motion detection. Within the defined area that you create. So just shows any motion detection within the frame you have created.
Normal if you give DMSS permissions for internal storage and then save videos or pictures within the application (DMSS). It will store the saved videos or pictures within your standard gallery/media app.
Could their be a possibility that the administration rights for the live view be messed up. Or you've logged in under a basic guest account that has live view disabled.

I think if you take on other forum members sound advise ie: constant bitrate/correct codec/shutter/gain adjustments aswell as a possible separate IR illuminator. You should be good to utilise those cameras your so disappointed with.
