    Adding more storage for clips

If you do not have room for more internal disks you can add external disks. If you have a newish computer with 5 Gbps or faster USB use an external enclosure that contains as many disks as you need. Make sure the external USB enclosure also supports 5 Gbps or faster. My setup has two...

Windows 11 - Powerup after Losing Power?

I recently had a couple of CyberPower UPSes that did not restore output power after the input power was restored. Turns out if the battery is dead the UPS will not deliver power even with input power. Restart the UPS and everything is fine until the next power outage. Worse than useless. My...

    System upgrade question

Yes, it powers back on when power is restored. It is connected through the built in USB-C 3.1 gen 2 port. My system is recording 24/7 at around 170 Mbps. Three drives in enclosure, each running 4-6 MBps. Room to add two more. No RAID - just a bunch of disks. Bought from bhphotovideo.com...

    System upgrade question

I am one of those that use USB external drives with not problems. I have a 5 bay USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 enclosure (Oyen Mobius Pro 5C) with 3 WD Purple drives installed. I have had zero problems with it, including concurrently running BI with 20 cameras while copying ~5TB of video from one external...

    Cleaning the camera lens

I prefer Zeiss lens wipes. Bought from Costco but have not seen them there for a while. If I suspect dirt or crud on the lenses then I first blast with air from a rubber bulb dust blower that I originally got for cleaning 35 mm slides. My alternative is a lens/screen cleaner sprayed onto a...

    EmpireTech Security Settings

Instead of using two NICs to isolate the cameras I use firewall rules. My router is a Ubiquity UDM-B. My firewall rules are basically Allow local camera viewers to see cameras. This includes BI, NAS, my personal PC, and my iPhone/iPad. Disable camera sub net from accessing off subnet. This...

    Backup of BI videos?

I hid a Synology NAS in a closet under some stairs. I have BI ftp some alert images and/or video to the NAS. Just the alerts that I consider most important, i.e. front door, PZT, and LPRs. I have room for about 6 months history.

    5.9.4 - June 20, 2024 NGROK

This is because I pointed out to Ken that the order of evaluation was wrong. I emailed Ken: Using CopeProject.ai the order of evaluation is wrong. It appears that first the trigger image, then the pre-trigger image, and finally the post-trigger images are analyzed. Looking at the AI Status...

Second Dead Hard Disk in BI system

Another update: I am half way through moving 2TB of bvr files from an internal hard disk to one of the three disks in my external USB enclosure. All while BI is busy writing to all five disks in my system. The copy speed is stable around 150 MB/s and BI seems to not have noticed. This is...

    Putting faces into facial recognition

After entering 6 names, each with 10-30 images, I find CP.ai's facial recognition to be a complete failure. Someone in the database walking up to the front door generates ip to 8 faces for identification. The returned identities are all over the map - young, old, male, female, same and...

    Putting faces into facial recognition

I recently upgraded my PC from one that chokes on any AI to one that has plenty of horsepower for CodeProject.ai. I am now using AI on six of my older cameras that do not reliably trigger. My PC is still humming along with typical trigger times of 250 mS. This is with no graphics card in the...

Second Dead Hard Disk in BI system

Just thought I would post an update. For the last month I have been running the three external hard disks using USB with no problems. As far as I can tell absolutely no glitches recording and/or playing back video due to the USB interface. After a power failure, which exceeded my UPS’s one...
