Changing camera recording locations
What is the best practice when changing BI’s recording location for some cameras? As far as I can tell I can change the recording location for a camera, move the previously recorded files to the new drive/location and then regenerate the data base. I had an external (eSATA) drive enclosure die... -

I removed limit decoding from all cameras and plan to keep it off. It was on only for cameras that used only ONVIF triggers and not BI's motion detection, only ONVIF triggers. The only difference I see is the quiescent load in BI went from around 3-5% up to 7-10%. Small enough not to matter...- quest100

This is very similar to my system. When nothing is happening the CPU is around 18%. With lots of triggers it may reach 50-60%. I have around 14 cameras using sub streams at 720p. Most hardware specs are in signature. The computer is a Lenovo desktop with a 4TB HD for Windows, a 512 GB SSD for alerts and database, and a 10 TB WD Purple HD. Defender has everything excluded that is mentioned in the pdf help file - BI, BI folder, alerts folder, db folder, and all three folders for storage of video. Both the alerts and the db are on a SSD with nothing else on them. The SSD made no difference when I installed it a long time ago...- quest100

For at least the last year when BI gets busy the FPS will drop on one or more cameras and never recover. This usually happens when viewing prior recordings. Once this happens the only way to recover is to restart the camera(s) (in BI) with the slow fps. Normally my system chugs along nicely...- quest100

Access camera footage on Mac
Make sure you can access the camera directly through a web browser. In my case I had to specify the different subnet that the cameras were on (In <Auto Search --> Device Segment --> Search>). After that they showed up with no problems. -

Look in the wiki - it tells you how to allow SmartPSS to run the first time. In <System Settings --> Privacy & Security> scroll to the bottom. There will be an item asking if you want to run SmartPSS. Not needed for future runs. I am also running 13.4.1. -
