BI changed my LAN address - how'd that happen?

Is the home network side using DHCP? I see that Blue Iris is storing a registry entry called "lanip" where the value is the IP address selected in the dropdown box on the Web server settings. I bet if DHCP was slow to obtain an address, Blue Iris could have decided the saved value was obsolete...

Blue Iris occasionally does not add its own files to the data base

Nah, I don't think it would help since you've confirmed there is lots of free space on the G drive. I believe BI logs something every 5 minutes when doing file move or delete. If you can track down the exact place in the log where a database screw-up began, maybe there will be other clues...

BI changed my LAN address - how'd that happen?

Are those addresses both served by the same physical network interface or separate ones? I would assume the .1 interface temporarily glitched or something long enough for programs to notice and automatically select a different interface to call primary. Could happen for example if a driver was...

Blue Iris occasionally does not add its own files to the data base

I've had issues like that before but not recently (Blue Iris's clip database has historically been a real mess). Since you're running a pretty old Blue Iris version I would suggest updating to latest. However doing that will require an active support plan. Anything showing in Blue Iris's log...

Some general camera questions + thermal cameras?

I haven't needed to use IE in a very long time. Most new stuff has a web interface that is highly compatible with Chrome and similar. For older cameras, I use Pale Moon 32 bit to run their plugin, but even that is only necessary for things that require clicking around on a video surface (such...

    Blue Iris UI3

Interesting. I've never seen anything like that before. Your camera layout is very unusual. I'm not sure how you even would accomplish this overlapping cameras thing you have going on. It seems the flickering only happens at very specific stream resolutions, as evidenced by the behavior...

    Auto switch camera layout

It is possible, but pretty involved to set up. You'll need to use MQTT, and connect Blue Iris and the Echo Show's UI3 instance both to the same MQTT server. Then upon the desired events, have Blue Iris send MQTT messages that command UI3 to change its view. You can read about UI3's MQTT...

    Blue Iris UI3

Yup, in fact it is even possible with just port 443 forwarded, via the TLS-ALPN-01 validation method supported by LetsEncrypt and Caddy. I even implemented that validation method in my own reverse proxy server I wrote. Unfortunately, just getting that far is difficult for a lot of users...

No reason not to use amd with latest blue iris, right?

Aha, well 9800x3d is still unnecessarily powerful for BI, but less so than a 9950x3d :) Sure, use it but enable the 65w eco mode in the BIOS otherwise it probably won't give you much if any energy savings over the Intel 9900k.

@wtf911 I agree native web push support would be nice. I've thought a lot about it before and brought it up to the BI dev before, but if I recall he didn't respond to my email (this is pretty typical for such requests from me). I see 3 challenges with natively supporting web push: 1. I...

No reason not to use amd with latest blue iris, right?

Well I assume you mean 9950x3d because 9850 is not a thing in current gen AMD. How did you upgrade from that to something else?? It is brand new and top of the line! Do I misunderstand? I just wouldn't recommend it as a new purchase for BI purposes, but if you have it just collecting dust...

Also, I think Blue Iris does support streaming "WAV" audio via some other URL. UI2 used to be able to use that way back in the day. That is a path you might try entering into the Audio path field. Otherwise you want to leave the Audio path empty. Here we are.

You could try the .ts or HLS streams that Blue Iris provides (see help file for URLs), to see if they are any better. I believe for either of those it would be appropriate to select the Model: "HTTP Live Streaming (HLS, M3U8), MP2TS." Ironically it seems Blue Iris probably does not support...

No reason not to use amd with latest blue iris, right?

Correct, AMD has been fine to use with Blue Iris for at least 5 years now. Intel was the undisputed best choice for Blue Iris from about 2010 to 2017 because AMD was simply not competing effectively. AMD released the Zen 1 architecture in 2017 which made them less of a terrible choice, but...

UI3 can't load separate audio streams of any kind. Only whatever comes with H.264 video. How did you add the group video stream to blue iris as a new camera? It should definitely be capable of doing audio, but you might have to use a different URL to stream from than you are currently using...

has there been a change?--Scrubbing Timeline to view cameras

Timeline playback in the local console does appear to be broken in latest Blue Iris. You should send in a support ticket (Blue Iris Settings > Get support button > Email Support > Copy button). In the meantime you can use the ui3 web interface's timeline as that still is working.

How to Configure a VPN-Based Solution for Connecting Remote CCTV Cameras Over SIM-Based Internet to a Central NVR?

Cellular networks have no impact on your choice of VPN. The biggest problem is typically the learning curve. The more networking knowledge and experience and patience you have, the easier it will be. For example, many users would struggle with even just setting up different LAN IP address...

MQTT-triggered toast messages are implemented in UI3-289. I went pretty deep into the customization capabilities, especially click handling, which can change UI tabs, open groups or cameras, open clips/alerts, and navigate absolutely or relatively on the timeline. Documentation is in the UI3...

I’m having troubles with the alert list.

Check your Blue Iris log file (if you don't have logging enabled, turn it on). Unexpected application restarts (crashes) could cause database corruption causing alerts to disappear. So that is something I'd look for. Typically you will see this at the very bottom of the log file where Blue...

    Blue Iris UI3

@DarkHelmet Ok I figured out the problem. I've sent a comprehensive bug report to Blue Iris support. In the meantime, Name/value needs to match the preset # but description can be whatever you want as long as it is not empty. If either of those columns is empty, it creates a gap in the...

@DarkHelmet If there is a bug it is probably on Blue Iris's end. Look at the camera properties in Blue Iris. PTZ/Control tab. Click "Edit presets". This shows all your presets in a table. Under normal circumstances the "#" column should match the "Name/value" column, and the descriptions...

i7-8700 quicksync or cheap xeons dual socket from aliexpress?

Using optane for the database won't make a difference for timeline seeking. I'm fairly certain all the database operations involved in the timeline feature are happening in RAM anyway. The timeline's database operations are very, very fast (the database is queried when you drag the timeline...

i7-8700 quicksync or cheap xeons dual socket from aliexpress?

That Xeon server probably draws 2x the power of the i7-8700 while performing slower. I would not overclock a CPU for Blue Iris. That makes it less efficient, less stable, and may shorten its life. In fact my main BI machine is a Ryzen 9 5950x, and it was having heat/cooling problems, so in...
