    IP Camera Tester

What is the easiest way to view the image from a single IP camera on my notebook? Can I just use a browser? I want to see a live image to aim the camera. Thanks

    Network cable tester opinions

I have looked around and I am leaning toward this: http://www.triplett.com/shop/real-world-certifier-rwc1000k/ Does anyone have any experience with this? I am looking for something that is more than a basic cable tester. Second choice is...

Best body cam for around $150-$200?

I have several Mobius dash cams. I like them a lot. I have not yet used one as a body cam. They sell long cables so you can mount the lens (camera?) separate from the rest of the unit. They can accept a 64GB MicroSD for a very long record time, but onboard battery is good for only about 60 min.

Condolences to family, friends and fans of The Network Camera Critic.

I exchanged a few message The Network Camera Critic. He was extremely helpful. Very polite, professional, and knowledgeable. This is really a loss for our community.

    WTB WTB: PTZ IP camera

I want to buy a decent PoE PTZ IP camera for less than $1,000 (preferably a LOT less!). For outdoor use. 2MP+ Good low light performance. Optical zoom. I prefer a USA version camera but will consider a camera that has English menus. This is my first IP camera system so this is a learning...

    Infrared strip for plates

How high-tech are you? You can buy IR diode lasers with any wavelength you want. They are about the size of half an AA battery. Cost is maybe $20. I bought a couple to try and make a laser speed-gun jammer but I never got around to it.

Let's see your wiring / switches / routers / wire management

When I first opened an openwireless.org hotspot I had someone use it constantly. I just cut the bandwidth. If they need a connection so desperately that they are willing to wait that much then I am fine with it. I just like the idea of spreading this meme. It is not for constant high bandwidth...

would you buy a refurbished harddrive?

No way I would buy a "refurbished" (used!) harddrive these days. There is really nothing that can be "refurbished" in a harddrive. Any damage to the platters or heads is permanent and progressive. Google found that the critical number of errors for a harddrive is ONE! This post gives a good...

Let's see your wiring / switches / routers / wire management

Wow! Mega-props for the openwireless.org hotspot! I recognize all of your host names except Muhr (Mohr?) and Segan (Sagan?).

Solar Power - Self Install or Not?

This is absolutely true and safety should not be neglected. BUT, if you have read networkcameracritic's blog you will know he is not stupid and I assume he will be able to avoid electrocuting himself or accidentally arc-welding his solar panels together. I also assume he is smart enough...

    WTB: Sargent 4100/4200 crimp dies

I have both crimp tool frames and a few dies. Both frames accept the same dies. Unfortunately, Sargent has discontinued the dies. If anyone has a source for these dies or has any dies they want to sell please PM me. These are some of the dies I want: 4100-30 4100-36m 4100-37m 4100-56 4100-65...

Solar Power - Self Install or Not?

I have been interested in solar power for many years and I have tried to keep up to date. The hardest part will be the actual, physical installation of the panels. They have to be mounted very well! Imagine a sheet of plywood on top of your car driving down the highway! I was just talking...

    Some great deals at Cyberpower

I am buying a computer today and they have some really great upgrade deals. If you are in the market for a PC you should check it out. I would post a link and/or more info but I do not know if that is allowed. These are "Labor Day Mega Sale" specials so they will end sometime 1 Sep 2014...

    Computer for Blue Iris

Did you look at the CyberpowerPC Desktop Configurator? I think this is what I will use/buy. http://costco.cyberpowerpc.com/system/CSINTEL1 It may be a little more expensive but there are a lot of options! You can get a SSD and they will sell a system without Windows if you are a GNU/Linux user...

Thank you for all the great info!!!

Yes, vector18 and shockwave199 have both made very good posts! I think I missed you two because your posts were usually about Dahua cameras or too advanced for me (at this time!). This is my first ever project like this so I have decided to buy the (slightly?) less expensive Hikvision cameras...
