4 camera laview system with 8ch NVR for 299

FedEx just dropped mine off and I have to say this is some of the best packaging I've ever seen. Cameras feel extremely solid, everything looks great.

    PoE switch placement

Did the final walkthrough of our new home yesterday and realized that theres no outlets in the attic, where I planned to run all 4 cam cables to a switch and then fish just a single cable own to my router. As of now it looks like I'll have to fish all 4 wires unless I figure out power. I'm...

4 camera laview system with 8ch NVR for 299

If @fenderman posts it, I'm sure it's solid. I don't think you can beat it for the price, even at $399.

Advantages of a NVR Vs. Blue Iris and a PC?

@Chust ..not sure if you just need a nvr but check out the thread in this sub-forum about the newegg special that @fenderman posted. The nvr alone is supposedly $300 and the cameras are around $125 a piece. All that for $299. I ordered 1, probably ordering another.

Advantages of a NVR Vs. Blue Iris and a PC?

I was 100% set on BI and a PC, though thanks to a forum member I scored a great deal for a complete system with NVR on newegg. The only real advantage of a NVR that I know of is cost, a capable PC to run BI is around $300+ if you don't have one, I believe the software is like $50? Could be...

    Home Defense Discussion

@Q2U ..appreciate the input, totally forgot to list signs, those will be going up for sure. At the end of the driveway and stickers on most windows. May add signs to the back of the house also. We'll also have a couple of dogs eventually, by no means guard dogs(hunting breeds) but better than...

    Home Defense Discussion

Aside from surveillance, what's on your list for home defense? I close on my first home next week(in a pretty remote area on a few acres) and making a list. Any recommendations is appreciated, would really like to get an idea of everyones else's setup. Plan so far: DIY alarm system - ordered...

4 camera laview system with 8ch NVR for 299

Thanks. I'm thinking about buying 2 of these setups. The cams individually are $125+ so $500 for 4 cameras. I could buy this entire kit and have 4 backup cams and NVR for much less than the camera's alone would cost.

4 camera laview system with 8ch NVR for 299

Nice find @fenderman ..I've been talking to you about an optiplex / hikvision/ BI setup but if this is quality stuff it's the same price as the optiplex alone and may fit my needs. Any idea which hikvision model these cams likely are?

Appreciate the quick reply, you've helped a ton. I requested a catalog from milk earlier and will check out Nelly's.

@fenderman ..do you have any recommendations on retailers for the hikvisions? Would prefer U.S. firmware and a U.S. retailer, even if I have to spend a little more. Thanks.

@milkisbad ..can you PM me your catalog when you get a chance? Looking to order 4 cams from a U.S. retailer asap. Thanks.

Awesome, thanks. There's no way I'd attempt to run BI on my laptop after seeing the recommended requirements. I was just piecing parts together befor seeing your reply and you're exactly right, no way to even come close to the prices for a refurbed Dell.

    Newbie needing advice

Thanks for the reply @fenderman ..my laptop is just a cheapo that meets the minimum requiremens for BI. I'll definitely look into the Dell's or see if I can build my own for similar $$. With that setup do you see any issue with saving recordings directly to the PC running Blue Iris or do...

    Newbie needing advice

Hi all, Closing on my first home next week and ordered a DIY alarm system today, next up is surveillance. I work in IT so when I found out about IP cams running over PoE switches, recording to a NAS, etc ..instead of traditional setups I became a lot more interested. The issue I'm having is the...
