Hav not tried hlc and actually kept it on but when playing with the settings I also noticed how non linear it was.

Thanks when trying to capture the number plate the vehicles are usually stationary as i am right by a junction during day it is great just the night light blurs them out. I will check LPR forum.

Hi Still trying to get to grips with these cams i have installed 2 of them and use via synology nas and in terms of general use all seems to be going well all settings are at default from box except for resolution and max bitrate which i have increased to take advantage of camera capabilities...

Thx for your reply I have added the camera as general hikvision onvif but surveillance station does detect all of the smart features the camera has ie line cross and entrance exit events. Should I be using these and disabling motion. ?

Thx For that at the moment no Ai as away from home and lack use of computer but what settings would you recommend for the ai ? I set recording to h264+ and cpu utilisation on nas seemed to drop but will set back to plain h264.

Just read a story on mitigated technology review saying hikvision may be put on us sdn list, thus banning other country's from doing bussiness with hikvison. It states u.s has already started briefing other countries on its plans for hikvision.
