More Reolink recommendations from a professional youtuber.

Exactly, but now he can't just explain it away as ignorance, seeing as he created a video talking about focal length, sensor size, etc. Now I truly believe he is on Reolink's payroll.

More Reolink recommendations from a professional youtuber.

Yeah, even if you go by his rankings in each section (daytime, moderate light, low light) the reolink is not #1 in any of them, but somehow it is the 'best motion capture' out of all cameras in all conditions. Absolute garbage.

More Reolink recommendations from a professional youtuber.

So I thought this youtuber had finally been educated on cameras and their features, seeing as he posted a video 2 years ago talking about Reolink cameras and their downfalls after he was called out. I personally wasted about $300 on Reolink cameras due to his recommendation, and then wondered...

    Frigate 0.14 UI updates

Yeah, you have to copy/paste it into the config.yml in 0.13, but I believe in 0.14 you can just save it from the UI and it writes it directly into the config.yml I don't think the documentation has been completely fixed for 0.14 yet, there is still a lot of documentation from 0.13 in there.

    Frigate 0.14 UI updates

I'm running frigate as well. I'll look into doubletake. Regarding frigate 0.14, how does zone/mask creation compare to 0.13? Can you create and save the zones/masks all in the ui, or do you still have to copy/paste the yaml?

    IPC-T54IR-AS vs 5442-AS Housing/Mounting Differences

Just curious on why the camera is dangling when you install it? I take the camera housing completely off and attach the bottom plate. Then I just put the eyeball in the housing, connect the eyeball, and put the housing to the base and tighten the screw. I guess if you had to put the power...

    IPC-T54IR-AS vs 5442-AS Housing/Mounting Differences

I think the varifocal has a narrower fov than the 2.8mm too, right? Maybe I should have bought the varifocal, but I was just looking for fixed focal length cameras.

    IPC-T54IR-AS vs 5442-AS Housing/Mounting Differences

Isn't the varifocal still the s2 version? The new camera balls won't fit in my old style housing, so unless they updated the old style housing for the new camera balls I don't think it would fit.

    IPC-T54IR-AS vs 5442-AS Housing/Mounting Differences

I can crank the lock screw all the way down and still move the ball. It's stiff, but easily movable.

    IPC-T54IR-AS vs 5442-AS Housing/Mounting Differences

I just tried. It seems as if the new ball is too loose in the old mount, even though it seems about 1mm larger in diameter. To better show my confusion, here are the mounts/housings. On the left is the old style. It has the baseplate, the housing, and the set screw. 3 parts. On the right is...

    IPC-T54IR-AS vs 5442-AS Housing/Mounting Differences

Hey all, So the last time I purchased cameras was in 2022. I bought a handful of the 5442 s2 cameras from Empire Tech on Amazon. They have the 3 piece housings with the security torx set screw. I thought these housings were great. Easy to install, small footprint, sleek, and when you lock the...

    IPC-T54IR-AS vs 5442-AS Housing/Mounting Differences

I'll cross post there. I've attached some pictures as well. Yes, mickey mouse is a perfect way to describe it. Is there any way to get my hands on the old mounts?

I was looking at that 1/1.8" one. I think I will get that one instead, but I have to wait for a sale.

IPC Color4k-T vs IPC T54IR-AS vs IPC T54IR-ZE

Awesome. Thank you. Why would you recommend against the mini ptz? I can fit a larger ptz, is there one you would recommend over the mini? I saw a diginlur review on YouTube and it looked pretty impressive. For reference, the mini ptz I am referencing is the PTZ425DB-AT

IPC Color4k-T vs IPC T54IR-AS vs IPC T54IR-ZE

How much better is the s3 vs s2 series? I have the s2 currently. I'm also considering the mini ptz as well. Not completely ready to pull the trigger though. Is there any decent way I could measure the light to see if it would be enough for the color 4k? I've seen conflicting info where some...

IPC Color4k-T vs IPC T54IR-AS vs IPC T54IR-ZE

Hi all, I'm looking at expanding my camera coverage after recent events in my neighborhood. I currently have Empiretech 5442 cameras in a mix of 2.8mm, 3.6mm, and 6mm focal lengths. Im trying to figure out what I should buy. The last time I purchased cameras was 4 years ago. It seems as if...

    White specs in 5442 lens

So I'm having IR bounceback issues with my 3.6mm 5442 again. Went out and cleaned the lens cover and noticed that there are what appear to be a bunch of white pain flecks inside. What is the best way to remove the lens cover? Do I need to disassemble the camera completely, or can I pop the lens...

Fog/light reflections washing out night image

I like that one, small and compact. That's a fucking cannon, holy shit. Do you run 12v over the 18 gauge wire, or do you have an adapter on the end? My concern is voltage drop over some of the distances I'm looking at.

Fog/light reflections washing out night image

I really would like to add auxiliary IR illumination. I was considering POE illumination, but they all pull a ton of power. My switch can do 195 watts total POE supply, currently using 25 watts with 6 cameras connected. I might see what I can do. Maybe I'll just run a separate 12v power supply...

Thanks for the help. Hopefully these don't accumulate a lot of crap on them. I can imagine a dome camera.

Fog/light reflections washing out night image

Shutter is between 0-8.3 and gain is between 0-50, although I can turn it down to 30 and not get any degradation in illumination performance. I cleaned the lenses of both cameras. The one on the right had a fingerprint smudge on it. I don't know how to remove the faceplate, but it seems...

Even if I set IR to auto, it still blows it out like this. If I enable Smart IR, it crushes the entire picture, no matter how much I change exposure settings. Smart IR on

Here it is later at night. The IR you see if from a camera that is mounted behind and to the left of what you are seeing, with the ir being cut off by a wall. Illuminator: 0 Illuminator: 50 Illuminator: 100 Navy blue towel, and globe removed Different towel, globe removed. All...

Fog/light reflections washing out night image

Okay. Here is when it switches right after dusk with no IR illuminator. Illuminator set to 50 I'm going to see what it looks like as it gets darker and post more pictures, but it definitely seems like a bounceback issue.

Fog/light reflections washing out night image

I'll have to get that tonight. These are daytime shots. 2.8mm 3.6mm Once again, both are at the same settings. The daytime view doesn't look that different, so not sure if it's a sensor issue. I can pull the camera down and move it to a different spot with no other IR to see exactly...

Fog/light reflections washing out night image

Moving the camera does not change the image. I thought maybe it was from my neighbors lights. I thought we wanted Smart IR off? I haven't tried the 2.8mm yet for face washout, but the idea is for the camera to reduce shutter/gain, seeing as it can do that faster than the IR. I've had this...

Fog/light reflections washing out night image

Hey all, I'm trying to tune night settings for my cameras. Currently I have a 5442 2.8mm, and a 5442 3.6mm. They are placed roughly ten feet apart. The 3.6mm one is giving me a washed out image. Both cameras are on the same firmware, and have the same settings applied. I've tried messing with...
